Our ranking went from 119 to 113. Last week it remained unchanged after we beat SMU.

Yes. Chad, the owner, supports and attends UNT games including trips to New Orleans. Isn't his ad still on the side of Fouts? I thought his support was commonly known.

Sagarin ranks Montana State #69 after they lose to a Division 2 school (Chadron State 35-24) and beat (19-10) an 0-2 Colorodo team that is now ranked #104. A loss to a Division 2 school should have lowered their rankings much more.

Both Channel 11 and Channel 8 had interviews and film clips for our game with SMU. Dickey said something like no matter who wins it will be a great game. Hanson at the end commented that of course Dickey cares who wins. Bennett referred to it as a rivalry. All in all it was good coverage.

I don't know what is happening on campus. It seems to me that students whine about conference affiliation etc. Well, they need to know who is largely to blame for that situation (i.e. smu). The NT Daily should have guest editorials from alums and should push this game. I have a friend who is a UT fan who is going to the UT vs. OSU game and he wishes that the games were not at the same time or he would be at Fouts. Every SMU fan I know is going, and one told me she is bringing 25 people with her. Any student who would stay home and watch UT vs. OSU should be put in stocks at the Union Building and publicly humiliated.

I was at the game and Baylor pretty much shot themselves in the foot. I disagree with the belief that TCU does not belong in the top 25. I was really impressed with the number of fans TCU brought. It was the largest opening game crowd in Baylor history (they don't pad those numbers) and I would estimate conservatively that at least 8000 of the fans were from TCU. I spoke with a TCU fan at George's before the game and when he saw my UNT gear he commented that he went to the game in Austin Saturday. For what it is worth he thought we looked better than the stats showed and said he thought we actually had a pretty good football team. We obviously will be able to put the game against UT in perspective next week when UT plays OSU and we play SMU. How does 96 yards vs the UT defense compare to SMU's 180 some yards against the TT defense? We will soon find out.

Perhaps it is more than a coincidence that a Hawk attacks the squirrel shortly after ULM changes their mascot to the WarHawk. the ASPS should place blame on theWarHawks. Perhaps they could have the Squirrel stuffed and mounted and could make the game against ULM the Battle for the Albino Squirrel to be awarded to the winner each year.

Considering the success of UT Basketball over the last few years and the enrollment at UT that number is very low. Less than 4% of their enrollment.

Perhaps we should e-mail Hansen and tell him we liked the coverage and would appreciate more. I don't ever remember receiving coverage that extensive at the beginning of a season (although I am sure it is related to who we are playing).

The overpriced seats are absolutely the worst I have sat in anywhere. Any seat in Fouts is closer to the field. I will be at OU next year, it is a great place to watch a game.

I have not seen him in person recently, but he does seem to be a changed man.

Did anyone else see the live interview with Dale Hanson on the 10 o'clock news? I thought he did a good job, and after all the publicity UT has been receiving in the DFW media this week it was nice to see us given to see our coach given a few minutes of live air time.

Most if not all Sun Belt teams play 7 away games. This accounts for the greater distance, not conference geography. Most teams with higher travel distances are in the western conferences.

I believe that as long as DM is healthy on Saturday he will start.

As far as fouts goes. We should demolish the stands and enclose the track and field making it an indoor practice facility. If the track was open to students and the field was used for intramurals maybe it could be paid with student service fees.

I was glad to see Sonny Sixkiller make it on the list. He was a great quarterback at Washington with a poor team. The only number they were unable to find a player good enough to make the list with was 69.

If we could swing an invite to the MWC and become TCU's travel partner I would take it in a heartbeat.

The WAC had 8 teams and UNT or ULL could have been the 9th. We both declined and then they invited Idaho. If they had gone to ten and include UNT and ULL or had gone to twelve and included ASU and either Troy or MTSU we would have joined. The Eastern WAC would have been UNT, ULL, ASU, La Tech, NMSU and one other SBC school. The Western WAC would have been Hawaii, Boise, Nevada, Utah State, Fresno, and San Jose. They only wanted to add one school and did not want to divide the pie that big.

Why would the Big East pass up a chance at getting a foot into one of the best recruiting pools in the country? Yes folks, you know where I'm headed with this. North Texas into the Big East in 2009! North Texas in the Big East makes about as much sense as putting the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East. Where is Tex Schram when you need him?
