I was very disappointed when the 32K was announced. I went to the AC several weeks ago and viewed construction from the deck. Maybe I'm not a good judge on this but the stadium seems like it is a lot larger than Fouts. I went to a SMU game last year and it seems a hell of a lot larger than Ford. Maybe recruites will hear the seating capacity as a negative but i wonder what they'll think when they see it. I've had a lot of co-workers that have driven by and commented on how large it looked and when i told them capacity, they were amazed. Maybe seat count won't have a huge negative effect on recruiting.

what was the rumor? We throw tortillas or we score touchdowns?

So, Looks Like No Announcement...

a victory against us? -
Actually I was going to mention the non-revenue sports because Hedlung, Stracke, Hubbard, Dykstra, Lama, and Murczek have been doing an outstanding job but again, they are the non-revenue sports that most people don't pay much attention to. I think most AD's are measured on successful FB and mens and womens basketball. In those 3 sports he difinitely gets an A+ for the JJ hire and I'll leave it at that.
-
Again, you have to look at what we had. The soccer complex is better simply because we had no soccer complex. We converted a high school property into the womens soccer field. Definitely nicer than before but its still an average facility. Same with volleyball and tennis. It would be completely different if we had average facilities before and he upgraded them to above average or great facilities. I'm not slamming RV but people around here are so used to our athletic dept being in the crapper (budget and support wise) that any little improvement seems great.
-
The United Nations doesn't have that much access.
-
One must admit that RV had the most athletic friendly BOR and President than at any other time. I agree he improved things somewhat but he had a lot more support than AD's in the past.
-
I understand what you are saying but you are comparing RV to Helwig, probably the worst AD in the history of mankind. When RV got here there was no tailgating, probably the only school in the nation that didn't have tailgating. So coming in and setting up some type of tailgating wasn't a spectacular feat, it was doing what all the other schools had already been doing. I agree that RV has done a good job here but you have to look at who he is compared to. The stadium fee had very little to do with RV, the female facilities, again they are a lot nicer than they were but look at what was here. Also, besides the tennis facility, the other female facilities are probably on par with the rest of the belt. He has had 1 good coaching hire in JJ and the rest have been nothing to write home about. Look at it this way. A girl weighs 450 lbs and goes on a diet. She loses 150lbs (which is very impressive and quite an accomplishment) but she still weighs 300lbs. Is she a lot better (healthier) than before? yes she sure is. Is she going to win a fitness or health contest? Not a chance. Helwig = 450 lb girl (bad) RV = 300 lb girl (not quite as bad)

Yeah but damn it, our coach is a hell of a nice guy.

I like RV and appreciate some of the things he's done but if this is the case, RV needs to head out the door with Dodge.

Future Of Head Basketball Coach
GreenMachine replied to Green Dozer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Inside info? I hope we do spend a lot more for a football coach and bump up JJ's salary also but we need to be paying asst coaches much more. -
So How Did Your Adopted Player Do . . .

I adopted the entire dance team, need I say more. -
so how is it unique and different. Football isn't the primary focus of a lot of large public university's. In fact, no university official at UT, OU, USC will say that football is their primary focus either. What make NT unique is that we still have professors that hate everything about NT not just football and are allowed to cut down football players in class, poke fun at NT athletics in general and even send out emails through university email system with "Go Whorns" in the signature line. That is unique because that crap wouldn't be tolerated at most universities whether they focused on football or not. Our apathetic (a some are just plain pathetic) administration is what makes us unique.
-
Maybe we should hope the market only does good some quarters and not so good other's. Maybe we should hope that inflation goes down a little but not too low. Maybe we should hope that drug cartels take over only parts of Arizona but leave other parts alone. What in the hell does your post mean? Maybe we should not hope for a conference championship each year? I can't understand our fans sometimes.
-
why are we different and unique? We are a large state university just like a lot of other large public universities. By different and unique do you mean apathetic?
-
this is so retarded. Crows caw, Eagles don't.
-
I believe your count still excludes long haul trucks thus pushing that number to 419,157. Does anybody know what % of people driving only have 1 eye? I'd like to calculate number of eyeballs that see our stadium on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
-
I really like the blue and red colored seats they have. Any chance we are going to have green seating? The silver at Fouts looks very bare when unoccupied.
-
I was dead serious. Banging asst coaches wifes won't get us on NCAA probation and if its not him, it will be someone else. I don't care, I want to win.
-
if he brings winning football to NT, who cares?
-
not as a deodorant, why?

I'm not 14

If we hired Leach, our football team would be greatly improved before he even stepped foot on campus has our HC. There is no more risk in hiring him than anybody else mention, it would be a great hire. If Leach weren't available I would go after Dennis Franchione, he would bring instant credibility to the program as well. Either or those two coaches and our new stadium next year, I can't even imagine the attendance numbers we'd have every single game.
