Will We Go After One Of These Dt's?
GreenMachine replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I agree with this post on so many different levels. As alum we gripe and complain about the lack of attention, lack of exposure, lack of publicity, lack of respect, etc that is given to our fine university and yet we ourselves are the ones that constantly run us down, both publicly and behind closed doors on this forum. I am proud of my degree from NT, I have done well with it (to me anyway) and I wouldn't trade my experiences here for anything. I think for too many years the very vocal minority has tried to point out every single flaw we have while the very silent majority stood around with our thumbs up our rears. NT needs to start standing up proud and getting the respect we deserve from the general public and our alum base as well. -
At&t U-Verse
GreenMachine replied to greenminer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I have a MAC and one time in 6 months my computer couldn't recognize the router, lasted about 3-4 hrs and has been fine since. I have heard other people with MAC's have this problem more frequently though. -

At&t U-Verse
GreenMachine replied to greenminer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I have the HD TV package with high speed internet bundled which makes it cheaper. I work for B of A and we get 20% off all ATT products so that puts it back below Verizon Fios for me. I like it. -
I like when the band plays Fly Like an Eagle. However, I don't like it when they play it 50 times a game.

Irish people are brothers. We are not only from the same continent but the same country.

Lists him at 227 lbs, what did AK come in at as a freshman? Seems like he was around 200. If he can add 15-20 lbs and retain his speed, he could be a good one. I like how he wraps up and tackles with authority.

How Would You Rate The New Coaching Staff ?
GreenMachine replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I was fairly excited initially about the HC hiring but after listening to how motivational and inspiring he is on one of the interviews posted here, it really got my football woody dancing! -
The heck with all this discussion on uniform colors and accents. Lets go back to the old leather helmet and absolutely nothing else. We would be the first team in NCAA to be running around in the buff (except the leather helmet) and I'm sure it would garner us a ton of publicity.

So Long To The Mean Green Club Deck?

standing on the deck watching Fitz run the opposite direction put him approximately 2.6 miles away when he crossed the goal line. You have good eye sight. -
So Long To The Mean Green Club Deck?
GreenMachine replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
posting opinions on this board probably isn't going to be heard or read by very many people, if any, that can do anything about it. If it really bothers you that bad, contact the people within the appropriate departments that can do something about it. -
Mccarney Sighting On Campus Yesterday
GreenMachine replied to GabeGMG's topic in Mean Green Football
what if Jackson wants him to live in Dallas -
How was his worth examined? When you say "more examined" what is your thought of his worth and how could it have been examined more/less to keep him on staff? What talks did McCarney have with Shelton? How much film did McCarney watch of Shelton's progress? Did Shelton express interest about staying on staff with NT? Did Shelton interview with other programs? How do you know what McCarney's thoughts were on keeping or not keeping Shelton?

Mwc: What Would North Texas Bring To The Table?
GreenMachine replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm certainly not making light of this but I wonder how much ,or if any, the border drug wars would play in the decision to invite UTEP? Didn't some students cross the border recently and get murdered in some dive town? Also, didn't some buildings on campus get hit by gunfire from across the border? I doubt that situation will improve drastically anytime soon, might make Denton a better choice. -
I posted something similar to this a few years back and got totally blasted for it. I agree with your post, especially the part about getting past being just a liberal art or music school. We bitch and moan about alumns not donating a lot of money then sit back and brag about what a great music program we have. Many people even within the DFW area don't know squat about our music school and don't care. I'm sure that as a music grad if you make it as a professional musician you can make decent, not great, money but on average they probably don't make a lot. I know some fans that are teachers and they are some of the most dedicated alum we have but they aren't gong to be able to donate a large sum of money. We need to start promoting the business and engineering schools. These schools are going to crank out alum that have a greater earning capacity than musicians or teachers or artists. Not knocking other areas of study at all its just that, like you stated, we have to quit being looked at as just a liberal art or music school at promote ourselves differently in the future.

I have 2 SMU graduates that report to me at work, your 3rd point is funny. Go home now, mommy is calling.

you are worrying for nothing. We can't even get our own alumni to direct their attention and resources to NT, why would they direct it at TCU?

Wow, is Leach even too much of an outlaw even for Miami? At first I liked the pipedream idea of Leach somehow coming to NT but I am more than happy with coach Mac and truly believe he was the perfect fit for us. Did the article state why Trump would be in his corner? Is Trump a Miami alum or fan or a fan of Leach? I could see those two teaming up on some business deals with Trumps money and personality plus Leach with his personality and he is an attorney, that could be a deadly combination.

there is just no comparison between Mac and Dodge. Dodge was an outstanding high school coach, no doubt about that, but he had absolutely no experience as a college HC. Mac has been there and done that. I am skeptical of a lot of things but I won't be skeptical of the coaching staff that Coach Mac puts together. This board probably realizes that I know everything about everything but even Coach Mac knows more about football than me. I'll let him do his job and I'll enjoy the fruits of his labor in a winning program next year in a brand new kick-ass stadium.
