Does the Big 12 lose it's P5 status because UT and OU leave? Seems to me the B12 could cherry pick the AAC rather than the other way around. I'm sure UH, smut, Memphis et al would love to become a P5 school. Besides, TT, TCU, and Baylor ain't chopped liver.

Perhaps a well timed corespondence to your Texas representative would pay dividends for good ol North Texas.

The Big 12 could expand to 12 teams after the big 2 depart. Offer Houston, smut, Memphis and Louisville and now there are 12. Perhaps then, we could slide into the AAC with the departure of the old nags along with Rice, UTSA and UTEP.

I know, but hope spring eternal when you're a Mean Green fan.

Because we need to win high profile OOC games to bolster our standing. Beating them would give us a little cred.

This is the year we REALLY need to beat smut.

Seems to me that Big 12 expansion, without merging with the PAC 12, would create better options for us.

This is the time for The Wren to flex his muscles and position UNT in a totally new conference (new SWC?) Or as a replacement school in the leftover Big 12.

I'll get a lot of pushback for this, but here goes. For a lot of people, all is right in the universe when the University of Texas is dominating college football, particularly regarding the Big 12. The natural order of things is askew when the likes of Baylor or Iowa St. are winning and representing in a New Years Day bowl. When it comes to college football and the Big 12, it should always come down to Texas and maybe OU. That said, there is no question that UNT should be the Texas of CUSA. Oh sure, La Tech or maybe S. Miss can make occasional noise, but our beloved university should routinely be at the top every year in football and basketball. No other school can match our academics, facilities, location and leadership. Therefore, I hereby proclaim the University of North Texas as the flagship university of CUSA. Thanks to Dr. Smastrick (sp), Wren Baker and the BOR, we are well on the way. Shout out to Grant McCasland for what he has accomplished since his arrival. The best is yet to come! Now if Seth can raise our game, and quickly, we will have arrived. Then, it's on to bigger and better digs! OK, fire away. GO MEAN GREEN!
