  1. The problems, as I see it, are multiple. First off, NT has NO tradition to build from when compared to the other D-1 programs in Tx. People in the north Texas region are big timers, meaning, if you're not in the Big 12, you can't even think of competing for publicity, especially when try to compete against the pro teams in this area. Secondly, I do not think NT will ever escape the doldrums they're in now because no one (BOR excluded) in power @ NT really gives a rats ass about NT. Oh sure, you get the lip service, but, where is the passion, where is the action that's needed to kick start this fine university. Music majors and teachers do not give much money back to their university. What is needed (LJ, or one of his cronies, are you reading?) is for the engineering school, pharmacy school, and law school to get off the ground and produce money giving individuals who feel a tie to NT. That, and getting into a conference with schools that the local Joe can identify with. My rant. Fire away.
  2. What about Cullen Mills? Haven't heard much about him since the first couple of days.
  3. Mean Green win! MEAN GREEN WIN!!
  4. "Joe Montana was a QUARTERBACK, you idiot!" "I said Joe Montagna" Couldn't resist...
  5. Jonesboro...
  6. OK, I'll jump in... TEXAS!!!!!
  7. All in all, a pretty lousy game from an offensive standpoint.
  8. I'll go farther than that. I say scrap the entire athlethic department! Fire them all and let's just be a fine little music school, then all you pissers and moaners can go and find something else to bitch about. Geez!
  9. We definetly need big crowds at both of these games. If we could get 3k, that would be awesome!
  10. Head Coach, Bill O'Reilly!!
  11. I just pray to all things holy, that RV gets us in CUSA. We must have regional, local schools for the casual fan to identify with. That is the only way we are going to be recognized as an "equal" to the folks in Texas.
  12. This is the biggest recruiting weekend of the year and there will be many of them there which also culminates with the basketball game.
  13. A win is a win is a win. SFA beat Tulsa earlier this year?
  14. I think Plumm posted this question a while back, but I think it's worth repeating during this bowl season. TCU has positioned itself quit nicely, and while not in a BCS conference, has managed to garner national and LOCAL respect and has become a force to be reconed with every year and is a legit Top 25 team. So, why can we not do the same thing? Yes, I know the Sun Belt is the dregs of college football, but so what? Do we just use that as an excuse to NOT recruit blue chip talent? Can't blame it on facilities, or lack thereof, anymore. Fouts, you say? BS! We're stuck with it, so deal with it and focus on the positivies this school has to offer. North Texas should not have to take a backseat to anyone! If the students and local fan base would get off their dead asses and attend games, that would be a shot in the arm this program needs. While attendance continues to improve for football, have you been to a basketball game lately? Embarrasing and pathetic attendance. There are many fingers to be pointed for sure, but the biggest (and should be MIDDLE finger) should be pointed squarely at Administration who continually hamstring the AD and ignore and alienate the passionate alumni who become not so passionate anymore. Or some of those on the "Negative Board" who "on principle" will not support the AD by buying tickets and have nothing better to do except criticize RV and DD at every turn. (Maybe they are members of the DNC!) I say that it is time for administrators, coaches, and fans to stop making excuses and lets just 'git er done!' Go ahead and fire away, but most importantly, have a Merry Christmas. GO MEAN GREEN. Beat the hell outta Houston!
  15. I would rather see us schedule TCU, Okie State or Baylor.
  16. Reminds me of the Tt game in Lubbock when Scott Hall was a frosh and nearly pulled out. Phillips has the swagger you need at QB. The team sees it and responds.
  17. Name a 60's pop song that Eagle-96's graphics might remind some of you and who was the musical artist who made that song title famous? OK, I'll bite. "Good Day Sunshine" - The BeaTles
  18. Adler and I were leading the chorus of boos when FFR was led out, but I didn't see the incident w/ RF. If it's true he threatened a fan beacause someone questioned the obvious lack of coaching, then RV should fire him immediatly. That is totally uncalled for and un-professional. On a personal note, adios mo-fo. And take your sorry, middle school offensive game plan with you. You won't be missed!
  19. Darryl wouldn't know what to do with a good QB if he had one. All he wants to do is hand the ball off! How do we get playmakers to come to NT if all we want them to do is block? AS long as the Darryl is here, get used to boring offensive football.
  20. Jeff, hopefully it was nothing more than the sting of defeat and being humiliated again and knowing they're going nowhere with Darryl's offense. Getting your ass handed to you repeatedly is a hard thing to take and sometimes you just want to go and hide. Don't be too hard on them. It's the Darryl that should be getting well deserved heat.
  21. ...is making this quite an embarressing year. This team is not even competitive, which leads me to believe that they are not being prepared to play. Combine that with a coaches fear of offense, and you have a team that doesn't believe in itself and has already given up on the season. Who can blame them though with the pathetic offensive game plan that gives homemade vanilla a bad name. It's as though we're afraid to try to make something happen. Darrell, your talent is gone and your true vanilla is getting pretty bland. Do something to at least try winning a ballgame. And who is in charge of developing QB's? Is there anyone?
