  1. Sharp, articulate, no nonsense individual. Not a fast talking BS artist. Hire him!
  2. Tech is lucky to be there.
  3. If so, congratulations to U of H. They've done what is necessary and worked hard to do so. UNT, take note. Go big or go home.
  4. I still say, put an embossed SOW over a silhoutte of the State of Texas. I'd buy a hundred.
  5. If we didn't have ten losing seasons out of the last eleven, maybe people would come. Put a good product on the field and against teams that travel well and we'll see attendance increase.
  6. Harry, do we know that the consultants have met with the Pres and are there any details of the report?
  7. That's what RV was supposed to be. Fundraiser. Correct?
  8. After attending the meeting and reading the posts associated with it, I still see pessimism abound and for good reason. Those of us who have been around awhile, have seen it all before. New coaching staff, new promises, all with the same results. It's no wonder this university is not taken seriously athletically. I'll never forget the quote from the late Dr. Pohl who stated that athletics is the window through which (UNT) is viewed. Though we have achieved Tier 1 status, what is the first thing (justified or not) that is thought of when you mention NT? That we suck on the football field, the basketball court and are barely an afterthought, even with alumni. There is so much dysfunction, it's hard to know where to start. I remember when the commitment was made to move us back to Div.1-A in football how much excitement there was. Goals were set and met to reach that goal. Twenty years later we find ourselves struggling for relevance, not only to the general public and the world of college athletics, but to our own students and alumni. Years of losing in a watered down conference will do that. I want to see a new commitment from our administration and the new AD, whoever that may be. If we want to be relevant in our own state, we need to aspire to be what this university can be. If we want to get fans and alumni interested and excited again, then the powers that be need to position us to not only win and win consistently, but make it a new goal to achieve P-5 status and seek admission to a P-5 conference. No more half-assed measures and pretending to be a player when we're not. I'm sick of being categorized as a mid major in everything. And that is why the Athletic Department needs a cleansing enema and get people in here who will accept the challenge and strive for greatness. THAT will get people's attention and send the message that UNT is serious and not just blowing smoke. My message to the BOR's, go big, or go home.
  9. This illustrates the amount of apathy, of hopelessness, that has been allowed to fester with nothing to look forward to athletically. Losing in football, losing in basketball, losing in women's basketball, no baseball, no commitment to excellence from anyone. Most of us are disheartened that even with RV gone and the consultants coming in, very little will change in the foreseeable future. Hype is just that. Hype. I fear this latest effort by Dr. S may have come too late.
  10. I understand who is making the decision. I just think part of the underlying problem is treating your fan base with disregard which I know has happened on many occasions. IMHO, that's a problem.
  11. Since Hank is campaigning for the job, he should come on this board and tell us why he wants it and what his specific goals would be if he got the job. I, for one, would like to see us model ourselves after U of H. As I stated in another topic, they're doing something right. Keep Hank on to maintain the local business community relationships, but bring in a big hitter to build and establish us as a major player on the national stage. That's what I'd like to see.
  12. U of H might be a good place to look for our new AD. They are in a similar situation to us. Large metro area, pro franchieses everywhere and they have to compete in a non P5 conference and for space in the sports pages. They are obviously doing something right to at least be considered for Big 12 expansion. Why aren't we in a similar position?
  13. Though not necessarily on the helmet, I'd like to see us incorporate more of our Texas heritage. I like the Texas star with the interlocking NT. I'd also like to see an outline, or a solid green, state of Texas with the SOW inside of it or superimposed on it. Anyone good at clip art?
  14. I should be able to make it. Who is conducting the meeting and will fans be given a forum?
  15. This is why I have NOT renewed MGC or season tickets. Mac and RV have hurt us for years to come. The new AD really has his/her work cut out for him. F'ing ridiculous.
  16. This is what I mean by saying we have squandered the past 10 years by pretending to be a 1-A program when we should have been the big dog in the conference. Thanks, RV, BOR.
