Sounds to me that this would perhaps be a great opportunity for the gomeangreen.com(munity)! Since he brought it up, I nominate 97&03 to be the chair of the decorations committee! Some Cray Paper & streamers, a pick-up, a trailer and a cooler of Irish Soda Pops and were in business... I would be willing to pitch in some scratch to get this thing done!!!

I hate to interject "facts" into this thread, but UT still enrolls more Texas Residents that UNT enrolls students. According to this news release, UT enrolls 46,993 students of which, 80.8% are in-staters. That would equate to appx. 37,970 Texas residents enrolled at UT compared to the appx 34,200 students renrolled at UNT. (BTW. appx 92% of our students are Tx residents/ At A$M, according to their Fall 07 figures (look at page 8 if you are really interested), 46542 students are enrolled at Aggie, of which 14.74%, or 6861 are out of staters leaving 39681 as Tx residents. Thus, A$M presently holds title as the supposed "University of Texans", unless U of H has some outrageous percentage of Tx residents. But it is U of H, I am in the admissions business and I dont care enough to go through the U of the Third Ward website and page through their numbers. I think i might be too depressed...

Were number 7 in the nation for graduate programs in accounting according to this source. We were also offered the 1st combined 5 yr BS/MS program in Accounting in the nation as well. -
I noticed Justin Edwards had initially been considering Hawaii as an option, but decided he would rather return to his home in the DFW area. I hope that June Jones does not renew his recruiting of this young man. Could be a big hit on Feb 1 if he does...

Sir, UNT is not cheap.... It is a GREAT value!!!

While I support and understand the necessity of securing student service fees in order to build the new stadium and grow the athletic department, bear in mind the following... UNT Cost of Enrollment for 15 hours (1997-1998) $1053.10 UNT Cost of Enrollment for 15 hours (2007-2008) $3196.10

UNT has the 3rd largest undergrad enrollment in the state and the 3rd largest Grad enrollment in the state. However, when Uof H adds in their professional schools (ie. law, optometery & RX) they presently exceed our total enrollment. On a side note, UNT presently rolls it's UNT Dallas figures into our totals while UH does not count the UH-Downtown or UH-Clear Lake enroillments.

I wonder if we should begin to question RM's recruiting abilities as well? IF RM is unable to land even one of the of the most pressing needs of this defense, and in fact is not able to "close the deal" on one (Atkinson) I am more worried than ever...

As an admission officer at UNT, I have the honor to introduce our great institution to prospective students from every corner of Texas. I may be accused of the "soft sell", but my number one priority as a recruiter is to get students feet on campus. Once a student has arrived on campus, my job, in many situations, is done. The growth in facilities, academic programs, enrollment and campus spirit is testament to the fact that what we have here in Denton is special. The excitement on campus regarding the hiring of Todge was palpable. In fact, this year I took it upon myself to take my mini-UNT football helmet with me to display on my recruiting table, hoping to get to talk a little MG football if asked by a student or parent. A couple of students in Frenship (yup, Tech's backyard) liked the helmet so much, they "borrowed" it. I haven't seen it again... Why would a recruit come to UNT? Get them on campus, introduce them to the stellar academic programs on campus, the award winning student service programs, the fantastic new residence halls, the state-of-the-art Athletic Center and Student Rec Center, the outstanding faculty and staff of our university, and the question easily becomes... WHY WOULDN'T A RECRUIT COME TO NORTH TEXAS????

Dadgummit, after seeing all of those names, I began to tear up... Good Luck Seniors!!!

Hey all, I hate to beg, but I am trying to get several of my non-UNT friends from the D/FW area to come up for the game this Sat. If any of you season ticket holders have any extra that you do not plan to use, please let me know. I have several people that would love to take them off your hands. PM me or drop a note to my E-mail Address Thanks, JMP

Best Places To Park For Game Late-comers?
Peacock replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
NT Admissions is running our big Open House house event on Saturday and we expect a significant numbers of additional cars to be on campus. We are requesting these participants park by Fraternity Row in the Morning to keep as many of the lots closer to Fouts Open, but there are guarantees. The event will end about 2pm, so there may be some really good spots that may open up late if people don't follow our instructions... I might recommend parking at the athletic center accross 35. Might be easier to park their and walk accross the bridge than elsewhere on campus... -
Ron Springs Is In A Coma
Peacock replied to SUMG's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I had the pleasure of working with Ron and his daughter this summer as they attempted to get her admitted to UNT. He had a heck of a sense of humor promising he'd come up to Denton and tackle me if we didn't admit her. My prayers and thoughts are with Ron and his family... JMP -
The UH enrollment figures do not include UH Clear Lake and other campus enrollments. It does include the enrollment of professional programs such as law and optometry. If comparing apples to apples, UNT has a larger undergrad enrollment, a larger grad enrollment and no prefessional program enrollment. This is how U of H is still larger... but not for long... GMG!!!!

I think he is injured and out for the season. I spoke to a counselor from SLC the other day and I am pretty sure that is what she said.

Often it is not the athlete's "choice"...
-
According to the NCAA Red Shirt vs. Grey Shirt: Red Shirt: A year of non-participation. You’re enrolled Full-Time, but you’re not competing as an athlete. The 5-year clock for Division I (only) is ticking and using up a year of eligibility. Grey Shirt: Non-participation. You enroll Part-Time (less than 12 units) your first semester in college in order to postpone your NCAA Div. I, 5-year clock. If you feel you are going to require more than two years at the community college because you need substantial remedial work before you transfer, (for example: you placed low in Math and English) then you should consider the possibility of “Gray Shirting” for a year. When you gray shirt you enroll for fewer than 12 units to keep your Division I “5-year clock” from starting. Please discuss this with the Athletics Counselor and coach prior to enrolling. Grey Shirting can only be done your very first semester at Pierce, you can’t Grey Shirt if you already started your clock by enrolling FT at Pierce or anywhere else.

He was at the SMU/ UNT game on Saturday... I believe he is presently a "grey"shirt... not associated with the team , and therefore, it does not effect college playing eligibility at all. He may be waiting for his good buddy Riley to get here this Spring.

Moreland has a hell of a boot for an 18 yr old... Take a peek at his recruiting website. It looks like he is already "comfortable" kicking at Ford...

I am in Norman, waiting for a cab to pick me and a buddy up... I was so excited last night I didn't sleep. It is like christmas, new year's and easter all rolled into one... GO MEAN GREEN!!!

As much as I detest all things SMU, I must admit, I admire their ability... hell their moxie, in promoting such a half-assed idiotic marketing plan. Their athletic department's willingness to drop loads of $$$ in securing TV ad buy time to remind everyone across the metroplex of the height of Pay-for-Play Univ. is bewildering to say the least. GO $MU...

IMHO, Chopsticks has the best chinese/viet/thai/philipino/japanese food on the planet. Cheap and wonderful... It is also uniquely Denton because of the huge Vegatarian menu...(personally i must have meat) I just wish the waiters would bathe...
