  1. UNT was/is a great school. I had a blast when I attended and I'm excited that my nephew from Nashville is so high on going there based on our tour of the campus this past summer. Our football program is what it is...it's a nice diversion from the busy work week. We've enjoyed listening to the games and attending them in person (my wife and former college roommate when to all of them). We're going to get better and it's only going to be a matter of time. One only had to be at the Navy game to realize how much fun crazy, wide open football can be (plus the flyover before the game was incredible.) And the fact that we were dressed like stay-puff marshmallow men against Western Kentucky and saw that amazing win only makes lasting, really enjoyable memories. I appreciate what TD is doing. He's bringing a whole new level of excitement to the university. I never thought I would be this excited about a 2-10 team.
  2. we'll be there. we decided before the season began that we were going to support the team no matter what. i agree they are our team and our university. we owe them that much. and this way we can say that we were there at the beginning of the dodge era and the return of the university to more halcyon days!
  3. I agree with you 100%. That's been my biggest observation about the defense. Compared to the big schools, our team seems SUPER-SLOW! Like a bunch of 40 year old white guys out there.
  4. What has happened to Jamario? I think I read that he was averaging 5+ yards a carry, but it would be hard for me to believe it.
  5. I pretty much agree with your assessment. I guess the part that bothers me most is that this happens far too often. I hate to have a knee-jerk reaction, but it's just frustration rearing its ugly head. I do try to keep telling myself, that TD is laying the groundwork for the school's future success. I'm still on board with him, if for nothing else that I believe he brings a presence to the clubhouse that is important. The players should be "Men first" a "Student—second" and an "Athlete—third" on the priority list. We're never going to be a big time school. We pretty much have to face that, so if the players learn some life lessons that they can take from the program, then I should look to that as a positive. As far as the rebuilding of the football program is concerned...It's like the riddle: "how do you eat an elephant?" "One bite at a time."
  6. Unfortunately, I've come to expect that if we're winning in the fourth quarter, somehow we're going to screw it up and lose. I hate that feeling, but I haven't been given any other reason not to feel that way with this team. I was truly living in a polyanna world after we hired Dodge at the first of the year. I just "knew" we were going to win 7 games. I never in my wildest dreams thought we would be this bad (ranked 117th out of 120 NCAA Division I Teams).
  7. EXACTLY! it was driving us nuts...did you notice that we didn't even get the "yellow line" to show where the first down line was? by the way, i think we counted 32 people in the stands in case anyone wanted to know what the official count was for attendance!
  8. ha-ha-ha!
  9. on a positive note though, our receivers looked incredible...jackson, sticker and fitzgerald must feel like they have a new lease on life in this offense.
  10. i hope and pray that there aren't that thick of ties with Mendoza...i was officially embarrassed to be a north texas fan tonight. every time they would show the "20th time the defense had given up a touchdown with less than 2:00 run off of the clock," i cringed.
  11. I know we're going to win and it's only going to be a matter of time, but my hope is that the interest in the Mean Green doesn't fade anytime soon with their losses mounting. With hockey (the Stars) starting up tonight, the Mavericks showing up to training camp this week and the Cowboys hitting their stride only leaves so much time for any more sports to follow. I keep looking to teams like Boise State, Hawaii, USF and others and know that if they can turn around and make their schools into winning programs then so can we. Who would have thought teams like Notre Dame and Michigan would be struggling like they are? The time is right (and ripe) for a major shake up in college athletics. If there's any lesson to be learned in all of this it is that colleges are catching on that investing in their sports teams can pay HUGE dividends down the line, both from marketing and increased enrollment standpoints. I can't believe it's taken us (UNT) this long to understand that idea, but maybe we're catching on.
  12. I heard a rumor that this weekend's game is going to be on TV. Can anybody confirm this?
