  1. maybe the AD and Coaches need to stop having a bunch of "Yes" people around them and read the room properly, but instead they are going bunker mentality in some areas
  2. oof 600 yds given up, Cal had the ball 2x as long. Not quite the start we had hoped for... oh f**k it, pathetic start.
  3. I hope Aresco does not allow SMU to keep their olympic sports in AAC. Tell them to take them all because AAC is no longer their home
  4. She did not mention him, but I will ask her, I know she loves WBB and BB in general so she will be a regular at the games later this Fall.
  5. new opportunity is AState: https://astateredwolves.com/news/2023/8/16/womens-tennis-sujay-lama-named-a-state-womens-tennis-head-coach.aspx Curious if he stays more than 1-2 seasons, this job has a been a revolving door the past 2 seasons
  6. daughter was very impressed with him when they were at DATCU Stadium event; looks like school is doing awesome getting the Freshmen involved during welcome week. She did mention the incoming freshman class is largest in history. Lets hope they get involved and support athletics more than previous classes
  7. classes start the 21st, gotta make sure players make it to campus and are enrolled. Besides right now Football/Volleyball are main sports starting immediately
  8. Bienzobas maybe as a Grad Transfer would be about the only one to be honest, others have already transferred 1x or are graduating as 5th year
  9. yeah losing 3 of Top 4 is going to be tough to fill, especially this late in the year. I bet she brings a few transfers and maybe get a few to come in January
  10. Community oriented, she had a great following in Ruston, retains players well, especially considering Ruston is not overly exciting. She also is good at hitting the transfer portal. Think she will do extremely well, she is 180 degree change in demeanor from Lama, fairly soft spoken.
  11. umm yeah that was kinda ugly. She was a solid coach and I think she would still be there if not for this pretty bad incident, happened 2 days before team played in the NCAA's.
  12. unfortunately it is looking like a rebuilding year. The job is attractive, big market, very good conference. I have no idea the salary, but assume Coach Lama had quite the raise from the previous 2 coaches who were only in the 40k range. Also add in Lama had a full-time assistant coach, so budget has improved obviously. Hope the next coach can recruit and keep talent at UNT, that appears to be the problem at end of Lama tenure was a revolving door of players, that needs to stabilize.
  13. you are correct, Jeff Maren, thanks for the correction BTW another transfer out Tennis Transfer Portal Report @10SPortalReport · Jun 18 North Texas transfer Matilde Morais has committed to Michigan State, per source.
  14. Jeff Hammond at Liberty would be #1, but he has everything there right now for a mid-major Ryan Haymond - Associate HC at Memphis, but they are finishing off a new 24 ct Outdoor and 12 ct Indoor Facility, plus he has been there for almost 10 yrs Courtney Steinbock former UA HC, but she may still need a few years out of sight before any AD takes her back Lauren Longbotham-Meisner former Auburn HC, she did well at Auburn in a tough SEC and also did very well at SMU. She has been out of coaching for a few years now, so not sure she would have interest, although family is from Texas Amanda Stone HC La Tech; just won ITA Southern Region Coach of the Year, she has also done a tremendous job getting community backing in Ruston, doubtful she would leave small town for DFW Area, also did extremely well at Northeastern St prior to La Tech.
  15. Lama put in a solid 17 yrs, but look at his bio and it was eerily similar to his tenure at ILL, really good early years then stagnant. Add in transfers out every year and was not good for winning stability, while allowing teams FIU, Charlotte, La Tech to pass UNT in Tennis, while never competing with Rice. Solid coach for years, yes. HoF - Sorry but no, thank you for the time and the early Sun Belt Titles, but no wins at NCAA Tourney that would warrant consideration, but then again the bar is very low at UNT
  16. Hope they hire a coach soon. Already lost #1 Adams, now #3 Alogo transferring to SDSU. Need a coach to stabilize the roster and hopefully pick up a player for January
  17. I hope Sanders fails and fails mightily. He is all about DS and not about the team. He is a paper tiger and will be exposed when the opponents are at the same level or better than his Colorado team.
  18. totally random, dropping my daughter off at camp today in Little Rock, was wearing my North Texas Polo and a dad mentioned his son was at the football camp yesterday and loved it. Did not get a good look at the high school shirt the son was wearing, sorry 😞
  19. Love this hire, he just wins at the 2 levels he has been at, so with more resources at UNT versus UNA and ATU, reason to believe he will be just as successful. Look at Grant's background before UNT, very similar and he fared quite well. I am looking forward to seeing who they hire for Tennis.
  20. Correct Transfers do not sign NLI's so they need to get on campus to be official.
  21. Coach Pittman does not put up with any of this garbage, why I believe staff did not know any of this until now. Also Renfro family paid off all these victims with NDA's attached. What a sick and twisted family.
  22. sounds like a spoiled little rich kid that mommy and daddy covered for all the time so he could live out their dream of playing college sports. Pathetic!!! Good riddance to him.
  23. Like Lama but was time, had not done anything worth note in 10 years, very similar to his stint at ILL, started well but the last half was middle of the pack, then add in losing players every year to transfer portal does not help, when you only have a roster of 8
