  1. Why on earth would any of our fans be happy with losing to tulsa, SMU, La. Tech or any other non-BCS teams??? We should be able to compete and/or win against every Non-BCS team in the country and the bottom fifth of BCS teams. It would be pathetic to except a 1-3 OOC record again only to cruise thru the CrapBelt again.
  2. If we go to a bowl game it will be with a 6-5 record and then lose in Bowl game that is only .500 so not sure what the point is b/c we will not go to a bowl game with a losing record.
  3. I know you love JT with a passion but his 3 fumbles at critical times in the FIU, Troy, and La. Tech games were drive killers and some can look at them as game changers?? PC has been the ones raking up some yards this year and probably would have played most of last night if not for an ankle injury. Wish there was a way to get both guys the ball 25 times a game but there is not and right now PC is the one holding onto the ball.
  4. What are the chances that DD and RF forget that a 3-step drop and quick passes actually worked tonight against a stout Def? If we play offense like this and make sure we take advantage of Red Zone Opp. then there is no reason we should lose any of our next 4 games.
  5. I must have missed something why did PC only carry the ball 3 times?????
  6. if there are any remotely negative things it is our pass defense in patches and our lack of production in the Red Zone is still a problem. Overall good game and I think the referee screw-up on the 4th and goal took the sails out of the team. B+ for the game, now just carry the momentum into the next 4 games.
  7. MTSU/FIU Ppd. ULM and Arky state are off
  8. They are rotating QB's and their 1st String RB got hurt in the 1st Q. so yes and no, plus they just blocked a 24 yd FG
  9. Already used more timeouts than plays. DM should stand for Drivekilling Maniac Nice 15 yd run by Cobbs though
  10. Yes as long as he learns to keep the ball in his hand and off the ground. He has 3 straight games where we could have either put a nail in the coffin or got back into a game and he fumbled, maybe this is why he is now only getting sporadic carries.
  11. As long as we get some OL who can block for our stud RB and more experienced QB, also replace our CB's
  12. He is long snapping why not let him also play some TE he is definently big enough, plus we have already wasted his red-shirt so play him a ton and let him be our TE of the future. What else do we have to lose but a little respect now?
  13. He is long snapping why not let him also play some TE he is definently big enough, plus we have already wasted his red-shirt so play him a ton and let him be our TE of the future.
  14. I have to disagree with you somewhat, all the sports have to be visible in order for the Athletics Department to get notice. Do you think Stanford feels their Women's Tennis Team is invisible? Do you think La. Tech feels their Women's B-Ball team is invisible? We have to recognize that all the sports need our support, if one of the other sports gains national attention they can bring in better recruits, who in turn might tell their friends who play another sport to show up at UNT and that can help all programs. You are correct though on the Slinker tenure though.
  15. Gotta feel bad for Beau, he transferred down from Syracuse, but for the most part was ineffective, partly due to injuries and then of course last year Andy Blount had a stranglehold on the #1 TE position. Lets hope he can come back as well as Warren and Monroe
  16. I know I have been harsh on the football team, mainly due to the high expectations raised by the last 4 years. Seeing how we have been hounding the football for poor play, should we also not hold the other teams accountable as well. Men's B-Ball: This should be a breakout year for Jones he is now in his 4th season and his first set of recruits should be matured by now. Women's B-Ball: Slinker seems to continually get great recruiting classes but success seems limited, yes they went to the NIT a few years ago but lost by 30 to a .500 Washington club. She has been around for a long-time and maybe it is time to light a fire and have a great season, they are picked #1 in their Division this year. Women's V-Ball: They are very, very young this year, do not think there are any Seniors starting, next year should be a breakout Soccer: No complaints here, the only UNT team to make it to big dance in the recent past. Golf: Unfortunately tough to follow, seems like middle of the pack Softball: Team in infancy, but when formed RV expected to compete from start, somewhat lackluster results in first 2 years, but very young. Track & Field: The coaches seem to have some great athletes with several making regionals, think Sun Belt crowns not out of question. Swimming and Diving: 0-2 this year, not sure of past results or championships Tennis: Best finish 6th in conference, no Seniors in Starting line-up, but could have better results. Good HC, and a great Asst. Coach to help the ladies grow. I guess overall we are so critical of DD and his results, but in order for the program to grow we need to start winning championships in every sport and right now only Soccer sticks out far above the rest. Coaching and recruiting will allow UNT to rise to the top of the Belt overall but all sports need to step-up not just Football and their annual trip to So. Louisiana. Just my 2 cents.
  17. OU is sitting alright if you think about it. Their 3 losses were to Top 25 Teams with combined records of 18-1. Our opponents we lost to are closer to .500 and all outside of Top 40 or so. They stomped K.State, beat Tulsa, Baylor, which we probably could not do, infact 2 of the 3 blew us out by 45+ pts. Like others have said in previous threads it is unfair to compare us to others, so we can not do it here either.
  18. This would probably be more directed for Cerebrus, Harry, or Illuvius We keep hearing about our awesome Freshman class and with what many consider to be disappointing play, would it not be wise to maybe throw some of the true freshmen into the mix and see how they do? I know Steve Warren has been playing Safety due to injury and he seems to hold his own. Why not then Banks, Washington, etc... getting a shot? or will this just be what everyone is saying a rebuilding/reloading year and get ready to dominate next year?
  19. I am playing devil's advocate here but we are so enamored with DD last 4 years, but do we choose to forget about the 3 prior years to that. He got a great recruiting class in and went on a roll and last year's class and this year's class maybe just as good, but why the tunnel vision on just the previous 4 years? I am may not like DD at the moment but you can look at my prior responses I do not think he should fired now either, he has earned a grace period, but at what costs to progress. We should be thinking reload (IMO means right back next year), rather than rebuild (2-3 year process). Just my .005 cent.
  20. So then what is clear to write about players?? Would our QB play has not improved over 6 games be ok or is that being critical? Our OL blocking needs to be greatly improved or IMO the coaches need to devise a better blocking scheme to better suit our players. Our RB's need to hold onto the ball better, so that we do not have drive killing, game changing fumbles. Our DB's need to learn restraint and quit getting all of the 15 yd Unsportsmanlike penalties? Can our coaches learn to adjust in the 1st half rather than waiting until half-time and being down 3-4 TD's? If I remember correctly our 2Q has been then achilles heel for the past 3 seasons (i.e. Arkansas, Air Force, Lousiana Tech, Tulsa). but I never played college football so what do I know.
  21. I am glad you speak your mind and the references were not directed at you (reading between lines). your above quote says it all about degrading (aka criticizing a player). All I did was look at facts. We had a great debate about our RB's, I think that race is all but over after 3 consecutive fumbles. Numbers do not lie. As far as comparing us to other teams why, that was done all summer and for every game. Why can't we compare with any other team, outside of the BCS conferences?? There is no excuse for us. For some reason we seem content with the what we have. I trust in RV to get the athletics ship turned around and head full-steam into the future, I was there when he came in. I met Gene Stallings when he came in and reviewed the athletics facilities. All in all I guess it is to much to expect more here. Expect more from the coaches and expect more from the players. That is blasphemy here. Oh well!!! This is UNT anyways.
  22. I am not degrading a player I am basing it on numbers from games, sorry the facts hurt. There appears to be little difference between Game 1 and Game 6. Competition wise the teams have been pretty similar. Why do we have a double-standard for UNT, Memphis is better than us?? Why we are similar to them in everything so why would they be that much better than us??? This apathy and ignorance to the facts is mind-boggling. Bring up numbers and I am degrading a player, very nice.
  23. How is it lucky??? The main point as to why the team is looking bad this year is inexperience but teams across the country are doing quite well with little experience. Yes OU is having a down season but their QB has pulled it out when needed for some victories, see Kansas State and Baylor. So by your thinking we got lucky then with Andrew Smith leading the team to a victory at the NO Bowl a few years ago. That seems contradictory. We have a RS Freshman with a year of experience in this system to learn, plus he was in Fall Drills, yet limited improvement can be seen after 6 games.
  24. Not sure how you can say we will get better recruits considering our best years were with recruits when the Eagle Point stuff was only a blip. Hopefully this recruit class gets better b/c right now it looks plain ugly, hopefully this season will be just like you said a rebuilding year. As for the QB situation see Memphis who seems to be doing quite alright with their 3rd String QB who got thrown in the middle of season without Spring Ball and 2 a Days to take snaps and learn offense better.
  25. Exactly how many of those teams are getting blown out by an avg of 40 pts by mid-level and lower teams??
