No this proves that Dodge unfortunately was still running the offense and misused Dunbar much like he misused Jamario when he first arrived.

Dunbar had a rough patch in the middle of the season with FIU and also earlier against Army otherwise he would have been the winner. There was some misuse by Dodge and Company through first 6 games or so.

Actual LinkHmmm, I guess he did not have athletes at WKU, because we whipped his @$$ this year, hopefully no hard feelings towards Canales. Just not sure I guess his 12 years at KU under the fat man makes him a good hire, but the WKU defense this year was worse than our defense.

There will be some competing interests in my house for the game tomorrow night. My wife is a SHSU Grad, although she did get her masters at UNT. I also spent 2 years there while asst coaching. Should be a great game, but one we really need to remain near the top of the Mid-Majors. Curious to see them without Marlin at the helm.

WKU may fund the sports, but they are not competitive in several. There tennis teams are the joke of the Sun Belt. They can offer 8 Women's scholarships and I believe they only fund for 4, so it looks good having a sport but they underfund several of them. Now they focus on Track and Cross Country but at detriment of other minor sports.

Have a buddy at work who is hearing the same thing, he has a brother being recruited right now. The Roberts firing is not a surprise really.

The university as a whole needs to support athletics and future BOR members and President need to acknowledge what athletics can do for the university as a whole. Do not make the mistakes of the past that has shorted athletics.

I would see Big East taking Memphis over the Texas Schools, although they also should be ready for a revolt by the Non-Football Schools.

Their TV contract is much better than CUSA or the SBC right now.

Add in Fresno, Nevada, and Boise and it is still a good but not strong conference, better than CUSA and SBC. No brainer we join. Easy travel to name destinations.

I will agree with one exception, Dodge got to choose his Defensive Coaches, Canales played with what he had on hand. Also Dodge had 4 recruiting classes to shore up the defense but instead spent way to many scholarship on players from similar HS as SLC who for the most part bailed on UNT after 1-2 years.

I agree with you DM needs to win immediately, but one could also assume if DM wins here he will be gone just quick, except he will now make 3-4x his predecessor. Am I happy DM is coming here, not really but he can grow if he reaches the community, I am like you though there were better candidates who have coached and won at Non-AQ and AQ schools with +.500 records. Fran, Bowden etc.. would have been at top. Kragthorpe would have been a stretch since he bombed at Louisville and I would be ok with DM then. Either way it does not matter DM is here and he has my support, but he must win immediately.

That is such as Bull**** comment. Canales can not win with some of you guys. You do realize the administration basically kicked him to the curb, so why should he still have allegiance to UNT. You whine that he is self-promoting and he brings the fans to the games despite a miserable season and depleted ranks, goes out into the community and then is told see you later do not let the door hit you on the way out. The pipe dream of Canales staying on as OC is sad. Canales has been nothing but classy, but all he gets in return is a bunch of ungratefulness. Oh thats right every team he played sucked so bad a trained F'n monkey could have done the same, so I assume then DM will have this team winning 7-8 games next year since he has 12 years of experience to go off of.
