sounds like a knee jerk, get it over quick hire if true == RV is to damn lazy to look around, Mangino is a good coach, but he should not be anywhere near the top of the list
-
make an incentive for the HC be increases in MGC Sales, so at least someone in the AD Department has incentive to try and gain more donors, since it seems to be too big of a chore for the current employees
-
Just NO!!! WE have already gone the P5 retread routes in Football and WBB and it did not work out, time for a fresh face, but of course I am sure RV and 17 are just giddy now seeing Golden is available, fits their mold.

#HIT6 Bro that is what they wanted so why would he not be excited

GA Southern vs App State on ESPNU Tonight
untbowler replied to LongJim's topic in Mean Green Football
well when you go down 2-3 TD's consistently you are forced to throw and when you are throwing 90% screens and 5 yd outs, well you need to pass more often. -
I say offer Skip Holtz a $300k a year raise and bring him over to Denton, can not get much worse than Ruston as places to live

Would be curious to see the Rice Salaries, guess since they are private, makes it tougher to get

sounds like the President actually fits into the culture of UNT, promise big and deliver small. Just permeates from the Chancellor all the way down

RV: Dodge was a good hire based on who we could hire
untbowler replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
I would be fine bringing Dodge back as a QB Coach or OC, the man can recruit talent, but could not find a good DC. -

That right there tells us everything we need to know. I admit was intrigued by Dodge hire at the time and hoped he would do well, he did put a spark in the fanbase, but then failed on the field, with that said if Carthel and others were available yet never so much as got a phone call, that is just pathetic and then same thing happened in 2010 and probably will happen here again. RV has his candidate in mind already and other need not apply. RV hires -- Peterson (ran off the best players, and crashed WBB), Benford (totally destroyed best UNT Team), DMac (losing record for career, could not recruit and managed to make UNT sink even lower in the football realm, but hey he gets $2.1 million for his demolition job) -

Todd Dodge was all we could afford? But wait I thought RV was the great fund raiser, you mean he could not get out of his chair and glad hand more donors to bring in a better choice? Or did he piss off alums with the way he treated DD at the end, he had already sabotaged Dodge from the start anyways by not allowing him to retain any of the staff due to his petty pissing match with DD. -
I like Canales and he will be a solid HC somewhere but just not at UNT, he should have been the one when DMac got hired, now 5 yrs later, it is just time to move on. Thanks Coach, but UNT needs a fresh face.

UNT athletic director knows what he wants in next football coach
untbowler replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
well judging by recent hires: Coach needs to be on the way out at a P5 school Be a new head coach with UNT background no Head Coach experience Losing record at a mid P5, but managed to make some bowl games in between losing streaks Carry a really nice resume folder Have ties to RV via TCU or USM Finally willing to kiss the rings of the 17 -
MGB: Villarreal -- "We have things we need to finish here"
untbowler replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Bullshit, the students got the ball going by passing the student fee, which led to the stadium being built and other facilities. Tennis, Soccer, Softball all had to be built to bring onto campus and Title IX, but hey keep on keeping on it is doing amazing things at good ole UNT -

Liar always going to lie. Minority my ass, just because your close friends whisper everything is good and green in your ear does not make it. More facilities to finish? How about that Center Court in tennis, that is waiting still after 10 yrs. Baseball that has been hinted at forever. How much more time do you want? I guess when you raise paltry amounts each year it will take you a lifetime to get that 90 million promised back in 2001. Oh well the hard core fans are about ready to say F*** It and walk away. Brand new stadium and nobody left to fill it, because of your piss poor hires.- 282 replies

Not sure many of us care if they are tweeting or facebooking, except when they decide to take their frustrations out on the fans and students, who have every right to criticize this team after what went down last weekend. But yes Canales needs to make example of several players if they are going to ignore his rules he placed.

yawn, if Carlos was a leader, he would lead by example. Did not hear anyone Saturday other than M. Smith trying to get fired up. This team quit on the coaches, fans, and university end of story. Want to earn back support then show it on the field as a team by not quitting and attacking fans, hell there are not enough of us anyways.
-
as he should be, last thing the team needs right now is losing fans. The whole team embarrassed the university last weekend, don't like it Carlo,s then change your/team quitter attitude amongst interesting what he follows, maybe that is why it is hard to focus on the football field
-
Carlos kindly shut the f**k up, you are the weak minded fool, first breaking the coaches rule of staying off of twitter, second you are now criticizing the very fans who you need for support. You want support then suck it up and don;t quit!

A look at 6 potential candidates for UNT's vacancy
untbowler replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Willie Fritz in my opinion should be the top man, he led SHSU for years and then took over at Ga Southern and has them already winning in their transitional years to FBS, yes offense is different but he wins and it is not necessarily a run middle, run middle, run right. The man can coach and win at smaller non P5 schools -
For how good 2013 was, many saw issues even then with playcalling and not getting young players into games for playing experience. The Tulane game was horrible, the UTSA game for a Conference Title no less was such a coaching FUBAR, yes we got to a bowl game, but the issues were there if fans took off the green glasses. DMac gets some credit but the constant whining got old, considering he had more than any of his predecessors but he was to stubborn to change.

On a positive Note - SackNSave remodel in full swing
untbowler replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
If they can fix it up like Denton County did with the old Food Lion then it should be fine, but if they are not going to remodel the outside then it is a waste and looks like crap
