MGB breaking news -- regents approve new venue
untbowler replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
tennis for the longest times had coaches office under Fouts as well, well at least in the early 2000's -
MGB: UNT announces new deal for Littrell
untbowler replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Saw nothing in Ekeler after first half of season when he ran into real offenses. The Army game was a major outlier, so i was and still not complaining about them being gone. If the big schools want them, then by all means adios. -
Seth Littrell receives extension through 2021
untbowler replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
sorry but this is not the right time to give Littrell a raise. Did the BOR not watch the final 6 games where he lost 5 of 6 after starting 4/3. Did they not watch him lose the team in the UTEP debacle, did they not see 1st Year Coach Wilson coach Circles around Littrell. Sorry but a nice pat on the back and keep moving forward should have sufficed and if some school wanted to take a 5/7 coach off our hands then so be it, instead we continue with the insanity.- 52 replies

Mark Gottfried fired at NC State, will finish season
untbowler replied to shootermcgavin44's topic in Mean Green Basketball
if I win the Powerball tonight I will try otherwise I would need to sell my blood and body, which is only pennies, so sorry to disappoint. -
what does it matter anymore. WB wasted this year dithering and evaluating, might as let the dumpster fire finish off now, just do not complain when the crowds do not return for the next year even with a new coach. UNT Administration showed they were absolutely fine with letting Benford completely destroy MBB.

Think we would take Gottfried in a heartbeat, of course that means UNT would need to find some serious $$$, so not going to happen -
Why not keep him the BOR has historically shown they don't give damn, the Chancellor s**t on the school, with the athletics fee debacle, So sure why not keep Benford as someone above said, we deserve him, since we allowed 5 yrs of garbage, so why not completely destroy the basketball program, all the upper admins seems just fine with it.

It has lots of potential if the right coach is hired. So yes it is a good job and contrary to what Vito thinks, the cupboard is not bare
-
so he now has 4 more years to actually win a tournament game. Nice to get to the tournament, but it is high time to take the next step.
-
why would Cross take a demotion, his teams have whipped UNT the past few years, including everyone's favorite JJ.

he could win in the lowly Sun Belt, but could not win a big game and in many cases his coaching lost many games the team should have won. Yes he was a very good recruiter, but an average game day coach. He was exposed in SEC, when he top recruiting classes and did not succeed.

hey gang RV is gone, as such we no longer need to hire retreads in order to allow them to retire. Think we have had enough already. So not no to JJ, but HELL NO!!

God Vito is channeling DMac and DD, oh woe is UNT, it is such a hard sell. Give me a flippin break. We have better facilities than most in the conference. We are better than La Tech location, UTSA, Juarez North, etc... Time for the excuse of a hard sell to be thrown away. Lots of money has been thrown out their. Time to change the poor ole UNT cultural and get the fricking job done.

MGB: Keith Frazier will not play for UNT again
untbowler replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
no way he played 30% of games, think he could get a 6th year of eligibility with a medical Hardship if UNT AD office is doing it correctly -
yes and no. Alec Morris was the starting QB to begin the season, he was brought in by SL to provide leadership which he did to end the season, so USM losing Mullens was a much bigger loss.
-
I agree he did well with what he inherited, but at the same time, worried like crazy that he lost 5/6 to close the season, with the one win being against a team with out their star QB or it could have been a 5 gm losing streak and no Academic Bowl option.
-
So your saying we could have saved $100k+ a year hiring coaches who apparently can't recruit a high level for CUSA standards, sorry but right now UTSA has made a much better hire with Wilson, who has even less to work with in regards to facilities.
-
Well for UNT it worked out so well with DMac and Peterson. Two Stellar options that came in to retire and sucked the life out of WBB & FB for a few years. Would not be shocked to see this happen again since UNT loves Insanity
-
Ditto, JJ did great but he could not win the big game, we never came close to sniffing a Top 25 win, but did have plenty of chokes. No thanks, let the search find a coach that can pull a few upsets, which UNT has rarely if ever had.

MGB: Brian Parish talks about committing to UNT
untbowler replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
So what does UNT Staff see that 125 other FBS teams is not seeing? -
MGB: Firing Benford midseason would be a bad move for UNT
untbowler replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
How has Benford taken responsbility? He blamed many players for failure, if not directly then via RV. Sorry but it is 2 yrs past time for Benford to have been shown the door. -
MGB: Firing Benford midseason would be a bad move for UNT
untbowler replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Sounds to me like Vito is playing defender for Baker, hoping to keep his scoops coming in. There is zero reason to keep Benford on the payroll. Fire him and Evans name an interim and finish out the season, guarantee the players will play better with the albatross gone.
