That's a great point. Also, not showing up to the games is not the best way to accomplish our goals. If we start averaging 7K per game we are going to lose all hope of a stadium. Keep coming and making noise. The kids and the school deserve it whether or not you like the coaches.

I think you answered yourself. Anyone can make a comment about anything. Is it valid? Don't know. If I'm sick, I go to the doctor I don't post on here what everyone thinks. If someone sues me I go to an attorney not a message board. Yes, there are some guy who know a bunch about football, but there are a many more who have no clue. It's easy to make comments like "we don't make adjustments." What if they made lots of adjustmensts and they still don't work? What if the other team is better and counters our adjustments with better plays? Point is, it aint as easy as some people make it out to be. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a real big fan of this coaching staff. I don't like some of the things they do. However, I'm not going to spout off that they should "make adjustments". Wether they make the right calls or not, they still know more about it than me. They also have much more riding on it than me. It's not like they have some cush job lined up if they fail here.

There is a big difference between saying for example that the offence is playing horrible or something along those lines and calling out a particular kid. Yeah, they should be able to handle it, but it is human for it to bother them. If I had a group that consistantly railed on me at my job it would bother me. If you are a rabid mean green fan and get depressed because we lost a game, great. Don't think for a second you feel any worse than the kids do. You may think you do but you don't. These kids are used to winning. They get to think about losing the streak. They have a lot riding on their success on the field. Rail on DD all you want, but the kids are playing thier guts out. It's the coaches responsibility to teach them to be men and put them in the best situation to win. Not the kids.

I second that. thanks for caring enough to say something.

good point Steve. I guess if it was as easy as some people think, every school would win every game. Now how is that possible? What's really sad is that some on this board have sunk so low they are fighting with parents of our players. They have much more at stake than we do. Some people need to step away from the keyboard and go back to D&D or whatever it was they where doing before they started paying attention to football.

Yes, I believe every word you are saying. There is no way this could be made up. Heard if from a friend who, heard if from a friend who.....

Greenmom, most of the people on this board don't have a clue and have never played football. They think you can magically will your way to a win and all this is just because no one is giving any effort. Please ignore. It's just a place for fans to rant. None of us know what is going on even if one of these is seen. I would be upset by some of the junk on here too if I had a kid on the team. Most intelligent people know the ship will be righted and the kids are trying as hard as they can. Thank for letting your son be one of us even if we can be dolts sometimes.

Okay, that was funny.

Carroll doesn’t have a huge amount of “talent”. Never have. Coaching goes a long ways. The list of players that have gone on to 1A schools if fairly small compared to many other high schools.

The Landry comparison is not really a good comparison. Landry himself wasn’t a screamer, but they had many assistant coaches who where. Also, there where enforcers on the team who would jack players up in the locker room if they weren’t giving it everything they had. DD, for whatever reason, is letting this team play extremely sloppy. Kids are going to make mistakes, but Saturday’s game has to point back to DD. The offense is just atrocious. I wonder if it looked in person as bad as it sounded on the radio.

Is it asking for too much to expect a win this
Green92 replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
No worries. We will stomp FIU into a mud hole tomorrow. It's like playing a JV team. The offense will all be on the same page. JQ will have a long touchdown. PC will get over 100 yards. All will be good in Mean Green Land until La Tech. We will have one week of feeling good about ourselves. FIWho? We roll.... UNT 38 FIU 10 -
Aren't most of them? Isn't the point of this board entertainment? I know we sometimes get useful information, but 90% of the stuff floating around is silly banter between UNT faithful. It's all a little ridiculous.

Blurb from football scoup, Neuheisel great coach
Green92 replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
Neuheisel is an interesting coach. He seems to bring probation and problems where ever he goes, but the players really love him. I think he bet in some kind of a march madness pool. -
That's not true. There is not a huge fan support like at UT, but there is fan support. To walk to the locker rooms after a game and not stay out for the school song is poor sportsmanship. High school kids have to do it. It's part of being a part of the whole team (university). What if the band just took off after the game and didn't even play. Some fans left, yes, but that's no reason to walk off after a defeat. Have some pride. Show a little character. The "no fan support" argument is weak.

The players not staying out there is a reflection of the coach. The coach should teach that you lose with respect and win with respect. I will always support the players. They are kids and will do whatever the coach lets them do. They where upset. Showing the fans respect and staying out to sing the alma mater is a coaching issue. I did not realize they had done that.

I've heard DD say in interviews that he puts up with a certain amount of personal fouls because he likes the aggressiveness. That would make me completely insane as a coach. It makes me crazy as a fan. Athletes are people too and things happen in the heat of the battle. However, over the years we have had way to many personal fouls. There where a few games when we where playing some of the bigger teams and getting our butts kicked where we had some unsportsman-like conduct penalties that where just very low blows. Very embarrassing as a fan. It was almost like, well we can't beat you so we can take cheap shots. It doesn't seem that DD takes these kinds of things seriously, or he just tolerates them. Blah!

Know-it-alls on this board, I think you have us confused with some other board.
-
DD teams never seem to play with a sense of urgency. Has always bugged me a little.

Crown Bear, Ignore the monkey, he's our new resident barometer on who or what is classless. He needs to get a job so he won't spend hours responding to posts. Guy Morris is funny. DD says stupid things all the time. BU has been the whipping boy for a while. We'll find someone else to kick since BU seems to be on the up. We always have SMU, but we play them next year so we will have to put our money where our mouth is. Should be fun.

Coach Dickey would not motivate a pile
Green92 replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
I think just about all SBC schools are complaining about OOC loses. We all fund our athletic departments with OOC games. -
Naw, this happens every September. If you pull up the archives for the past several years you wouldn't be able to tell which year you where in. Some hate DD, always have, some love DD, always will. Just the nature of the beast. Still haven't made my mind up.

Hey spacemonkey, I'm rubber your glue. I know you are but what am I? Hope you don't get my post deleted when you tell mother on me.
-
Okay, not sure what that means. Go ahead and pat yourself on the back for all the fine work you have done keeping us all in line.

I'm glad we got spacemokey to give us moral direction. I wasn't sure between right and wrong, but now I can just follow a monkey. PS No one likes a brown noser or a tattle tale.
