  1. It was a great game to watch. Good for Louisville. If they keep playing like this they'll need to expand that stadium.
  2. Wasn't one of things we heard was we weren't competitive enough in enough sports other than football? Not having baseball probably hurt the most.
  3. He'll probably be too busy to read them(prepping the team for the big dance), but if we win Saturday we should all email Coach Hedlund and tell him how proud we are of the girls. Hell we should win or lose to tell you the truth.
  4. Nortx9 is Brittany Cleveland? I figured she was a member of the team, even though her writing style made it seem as if she was a bit of an outsider, so I hadn't ruled out just a family member, ala Reb 70.
  5. In your opinion nortx are we in even with a loss? You gave the impression last week we needed to win this thing.
  6. Also dropped the Men's tennis team in the mid 90's because of Title IX. My private instructor was the coach at NT right before it was dropped...and I had designs of walking on. Oh well.
  7. Didn't I say I thought we had a great shot despite being the #3 seed and having a tough road? I just figured our team so experienced, that would show come tournament time. Not to mention Hedlund apparently owns the first 2 rounds of this tourment considering he's NEVER lost before the final.
  8. Let's go Ladies...bring home that title!
  9. We crushed them 5-1. On to the semis!
  10. Not that I could find.
  11. Yes, we could've played and probably beated A&M a few years ago. But they're actually playing quite well right now(they barely beat Army, true...but they also beat Mizzou and Oklahoma State in recent weeks). I wouldn't be surprised if they beat a Sooner team minus Peterson. Not at all.
  12. Apparenty sunbeltsports.org is gonna have the games available for 10 bucks. Anyone gonna watch?
  13. I'm pretty sure Bryan316 is IN Talons.
  14. Unless ESPN did a piss poor job of showing the people, I can not believe there were 13K and change there. Most of the crowd shots I saw reminded me of the NMSU game in 2000.
  15. Not that we were any good at the time, but I remember us playing on a Halloween night around 1999, and the crowd being extremely sparse. That is just not a good night to play period, especially when you don't have to(a Tuesday night).
  16. Yeah, the no conference affiliation is something Mom never completely forgave Fry for. How close were we to a sellout when DePaul came calling? That was near the end of Ray Meyer's career and he was a living legend by that point. The story I was told was he got some sort of standing ovation from the SuperPit crowd, and though Blakely understood, he was not happy about it. At all.
  17. Hey, I'm just repeating what my folks told me(they were in school in the mid to late 70's). I'm sure their memories may have been generous thru the years, but I do know they have told me other stories that have been verified by other sources. In other words, they could very well be wrong, but I had no reason to think they were lying to me. Hell Mom was the basketball beat writer for the Daily for around 6 months. She actually talked to Blakely within minutes after he found out that neither the NCAA or NIT invited us. BTW - Mom went into labor with my brother at the SMU basketball game in January of 1977 and didn't leave till halftime, so you can't say she wasn't dedicated.
  18. Well, I wouldn't know - seeing as how I haven't been to a game since 2001. Hard to fly in from Los Angeles, ya know? But that sounds disheartening.
  19. As a Talon alum - I too would like to know that. Though I must say I went to more than a few games in my years where the Talon section would be 5 or less.
  20. Looking thru those stats from the Indy Star, many schools seem to lose money on football too.
  21. Agreed if we started winning consistently the SuperPit could be pretty full most nights. Even against Sunbelt competition. In those glory years of Hayden Fry they had a hard time filling Fouts, but the Colesium was nearly full all the time(though I think they only actually sold it out twice against Depaul and SMU) because Blakely's teams WON.
  22. The MeanGreen club supports all of our athletes, not just the football team. Get fed up with the FB team, don't buy season tickets. But the athletes need all the support they can get from those that can afford it.
  23. And they won again tonight. A great season for the Ladies.
  24. I would say we should discuss it in the basketball forum.
