  2. Yeah, it was during the net cutting ceremony.
  3. It also is like what some of the big time programs have been dealing with the last 10-15 years with all the one and done guys.
  4. Well you can't use the transitive principle. 🙂 Xavier is the only team Connecticut played this year they couldn't beat (UCONN split in Big East play with all their other losses but went 0-2 against Xavier). But #15 feels about right for the Musketeers.
  5. Thanks! I notice Memphis (NIT Champion) got votes, but nowhere near as many as we did.
  6. I can't remember if we received any votes two years ago, but if we did, it was probably just a handful or less.
  7. Scrappy forever. (I loved how sort of lost and confused he looks here while holding the trophy)
  8. He better not go to California if he wants to win. The Golden Bears are awful and will be in a rebuild.
  9. I recall reading Baylorfans in 2013 and they were pretty thrilled when they won the NIT. I mean they probably wouldn't be NOW, but it was then. Not sure I read any Horn boards or killerfrogs after they won, but I often drop in on a lot of school's boards during March Madness to get a read on things. Schools that have had A LOT of success in the NCAAs don't generally get too excited by the NIT, but outside of the top programs, most seem to. I specifically remember Dayton went nuts when they won it.
  10. Would you say it passes the 2007 and 2010 teams who won their league and made the tournament, but didn't advance past the Round of 64? After all, those teams did accomplish the goals of being conference champion and making the Dance.
  11. Well, Perry was a Senior, so I'd already assumed this was his last year. Yes, he could have come back because of the Covid eligibility, but I didn't figure he would. As I have said, I just guessed he'd try and play pro overseas, so from that standpoint - it sucks. But it was a Hamlet situation. He could have come back for his Covid year but didn't. As far as McCasland goes...ever since he defeated Purdue I thought we were on borrowed time. I've followed college basketball a long time. When coaches from league like CUSA win tourney games, they're usually swooped up by a Power Conference school quickly.
  12. Threads still pop up about Coach Jones a few times a year, so yeah. It hurts now, but in time we'll largely be proud, look back at the good times, and remark positively about any success he has there.
  13. Guess it's a good thing the video was made before Perry's announcement. 😇
  14. If I recall, Perry is graduating from UNT. So, I'd say he IS one of us. He'll apparently go to grad school somewhere else.
  15. Four of the five. Their first was in Florida. But yeah, they have luck in the Lone Star State. Pencil them in the next time the Final Four comes back to Texas.
  16. Connecticut cuts the nets down for the 5th time. They may not be consistently good like the other Blue Bloods, but when they have a really good team -- they almost always seem to win it. In the last 25 years, the Huskies have made the Sweet 16 ten times. Of those ten they've made the Final Four...6...and won it all....five. That is INCREDIBLE.
  17. We discussed the NCAA Tournament here. It's kind of a college basketball forum with a 95% NT focus.
  18. Since I figured he was gone, the fact that he won't be here doesn't bother me. Of course I thought he was going to Europe or somewhere else overseas. Now that he's transferring it does hurt some.
  19. To be fair, I'm pretty sure we linked to, and discussed, Johnny Jones' press conference when he went to LSU.
  20. He also got Oklahoma State and Texas Tech to come to Denton.
  21. I figured Perry was gone, I just thought it would be to playing overseas.
  22. I believe the accomplishments are roughly equal. Winning four games in four days including defeating WKU (a historical nemesis) in overtime and then taking out a top 15-20 ranked Purdue in the NCAA Tournament (again in OT) is tremendous and won't be forgotten. We had a better regular season this year in a better CUSA. We also won five straight postseason games, one on the road at a Power League team (a former NCAA Champion at that), two on a neutral site (with one against a Power league school with two Final Fours in the last decade or so) and another avenging a loss that knocked us out of our Conference Tournament. Again, I feel like the two accomplishments are roughly equal. The 2021 team was on the bigger stage, but I think this was the tougher task. I give a slight edge to this year's team and season.
  23. If it had happened to us, I'm sure we'd never get over it either. To be a championship team though, sometimes you have to overcome bad calls. While they were more aggressive driving to the basket and probably deserved to be rewarded accordingly, they also racked up 3 times more free throw shots than us, which I felt was more than merited. We overcame it though.
  24. I live out of state, so I'm not attending any sort of celebration. That said, this was a big deal for our athletic department and something more than a meet and greet attaboy after a press conference should have been done. It is what it is though. Do we still have basketball banquets where we honor the team? I know we used to. If nothing else, do something bigger there.
  25. To be fair, Arizona State had more than a single quality win. They defeated Creighton, which as the tournament showed, was also a very good victory. That said, they did have a lack of eye popping wins.
