He's been a loyal fan for decades - Deep has earned plenty of respect. I'd like to think I have too considering I've followed NT athletics since I was a kid. Since I live in California now, I don't exactly make many games these days, but I know I waste more time than most worrying about how our teams are doing. Making a lot of games isn't always easy for all of us. Sure, rip on folks in DFW if you want for not making an effort. Hell, I've done plenty of that too. Not all of us are in that situation though.

I'm not getting into a fight with Hoos, going to so many games is impressive. But not everyone is in the position financially to make those games. OR if the alum lives out of state (or out of the country as we've had at various times international posters on GMG) let's not get on their case for missing games at the Super Pit. Not sure why that means they're less of fans.

It happens in basketball more than you'd think. Hell, in hockey sometimes your second line scores more than your first, or your third more than the second. Sure in football it isn't normal and in baseball it isn't either -- though with pitchers nowadays some teams have the best arms in the bullpen.

There are numerous examples of bench players being as good, if not better, than some of the starters. I remember about 30 years ago that Tulane had a team where they went ten deep and their second five outscored their starters on the season.

I think about half the NFL teams actually play in a suburb of the team they represent (because land tends to be cheaper, etc.). Maybe not that many, but it's a sizable figure and without even thinking hard, six come to mind. It's not quite the same thing, though I would say SMU has a more of a leg to stand on than schools that don't play D1 sports.

Top 10 Super Pit Crowds of All Time per Zac Babb

ESPN carried college basketball since their inception. Their first game was December 5th, 1979. https://www.sportsbroadcastjournal.com/dick-vitale-called-his-first-espn-college-basketball-game-40-years-ago-thursday-depaul-vs-wisconsin/ -
Big thought, looking ahead after the FAU loss

Duke will probably sell their gym out. UNC too. Both have fans all over the country. -
We've had plenty of opponents the last few years say we won because of help from the refs too. I've read it on their boards. It's typically a weak excuse, even if true.

New Mexico has had good teams off and on for decades - that's why they get fans and recruits.
-
I mean....they did make the National Title game last year.
-
Right now Lunardi is putting more MWC schools in the field than a few power leagues.
-
We'll see, but I do think it is quite possible we get 3 teams in at this point.
-
Wichita State is way too talented to be this bad. I figure they'll end of with a few league wins.

A shot breakdown like that doesn't tell you if the shots were near the basket because of guards driving or because the front line players got the ball down low to begin with. I didn't think the game was called egregiously on their behalf. Fans (ALL fans in all sports) blame the refs for 90% of the losses when it's probably less than 10.
-
Did we even drive the paint a lot to force fouls? I feel like that's not our typical game. Sure we can do it, but our guards don't usually pin their ears back and go to the goal like some do.
-
We got the rebound with around 30 seconds, which reset the shot clock to 20. Buggs let it go with like 12-13 seconds on the shot clock.
-
Yeah, I mean he was red hot so I can't have much of an issue and I guess I don't. Still though, even if he hit it, you're leaving the Owls with a ton of time. I wanted to give them as little as possible to tie or retake the lead.
-
Doesn't get much easier for us. Blazers are almost always a tough out.
-
Charlotte continues to show that wasn't a bad loss, other than the margin.
-
Davis is a potential All-American for a reason. It feels like every time we play the Owls we coulda/shoulda. The fact that we never do says as much about them as us. Gotta just tip your cap to them.

FAU 66 --------- NT 63 Final
-
I can understand Buggs' thought process, but he should have pulled it out.
-
NT 57 --------- FAU 57 3:54 to go Both teams making and missing big shots. Gonna be all about heart now.
-
NT 50 --------- FAU 49 7:12 to go Buggs is providing a HUGE lift right now.
