  1. Here's my expectations: 1. The day after the Texas game each UT player should be sore becuase the UNT player across from them gave them hell for 60 minutes. I want 60 minutes of competitiveness. I would like to see Jamario go off, but UT is gonna have an excellent D-line; and Jamario is only one man. 2. SMU: I would like to win, and then run up the score. I would like to see both Thomases have big days (Jamario and Isaac). 3. La Tech and Tulsa. Win one. I think the La Tech game is the more feasible of the two. 4. Sunbelt play: I am not overly concerned here, as if the above mentioned occurs, I think we will be fine. With the exception of that fool Weatherby[sp]. I still haven't forgiven him for insulting Jamario, and I would like to hang 50 on him. Overall, I think 8-4 is very possible; with the low end expectation being 6-6.
  2. ESPN just posted this article indicating that Suggs did not pass his physical with the Jets, and will be shipped back to the Browns. So the Jets are stil lokking for runnign backs.
  3. Its mostly that Denver feels that its the system that makes the running back; not the running back who makes it work. Cobbs just needs some time on the field to prove himself; and everything else will work out.
  4. I'm sure the venerable Hayden Frye got blown out once or twice; should we still be angry about those losses? Dude, you gotta get over this lingering anger thing. Its a new season, and hope springs eternal (even in August). That's the glory of a new season, the last one (good or bad) is behind us. Out-recruiting. That's a funny word. You are refering to the art of finding kids who will take their game to the next level. Take a minute and read the last 4 DCTF, and see where our graduating classes are ranked. I'll give you a hint, they are very competitively ranked within the state of Texas. I can only assume that you are pissed becuase we aren't recruiting the kids who are ranked in the DMN Top 100; which is a Rivals product. And in case you are neew to college football, I'll explain: those rankings are biased towards kids have any interest expressed in them by BCS schools. Very often those relative rankings have nothing to do with talent. Want proof, check out how kids rankings have changed as they commit to UT.
  5. Well, The Browns traded Lee Suggs to the Jets. Changes the dynamics for Cobbs just a little.
  6. When I log-in, I get a blank white screen. Or a picutre of a polar bear in a snow storm in Anartica. Either way it doesn't look right.
  7. Whichever one it was, I bet it was in poorly constructed sentences; with the word "uh" sprinkled throughout.
  8. I believe the showed he can overcome diversity (read diaster) by getting a conference championship out of a team that lost one of its leaders that day before camp started.
  9. I disagree with your assessment. I think what he was saying is that becuase he hasn't briefed us on the details doesn't mean nothing is being done. With that being said, I plan on playing no less than $400/week in the lotto just to make sure.
  10. Alright, here's my last question of the night: with the performance of the program (overall) since you got here; have you found it has gotten easier or harder to locate and court alums (potential donors)?
  11. Thanks. I appreciate the 1:00 in the morning chat with our athletic director. Can you speak to how ticket sales (or projections) for the SMU game are going? Or hell, feel free to speak about our depth at linebacker as related to our switch to the 3-4 and how that will or won't create match-up situations for us this season.
  12. We may want to dominate the 'belt first. Western Kentucky ain't exactly ready to give up their yearly pass to the "Big Dance" just yet.
  13. Thank you for taking the time out to address the fans. This is an aspect of the program where I feel quite spoiled, as I know that other ADs do not choose to address the masses so openly or frequently. Thank you for the job you are doing. [PS: could you address how the plans for a baseball team and baseball facility are coming along?]
  14. Cobbs led the Patriots in receiving. And their next game will be live on NFL network.
  15. Yeah, cuz that place can hold a lot of toothless, rude drunks.
  16. I was reading the Patrots message board, and posted to ask them what they had seen of Cobbs in Camp (this was last week). I got some answers indicating that he was just a "camp body" and would be lucky to make the practice squad. I saw a thread this morning on their scrimmage, and now they are wondering if he is relegated to the PS, will he even remain a Pat. The million dollar question, with those fans, is whether or not he continues to play at that level throughout the rest of camp. They are all impressed with him now. Gotta register to view their message board.
  17. FYI, nfl.com shows that the Patriots next game will be on NFL Network next Saturday at 8:00 (eastern). It'll be interesting to see when Cobbs gets in the game next week.
  18. How does Woodward look? Is he as impressive as advertised?
  19. Here's my thoughts: 1. Due to the play calling, it looked like PC was auditioning for the Kevin Faulk role on this team; which he did very well. 2. Mills performed very well. 3. Cobbs played a lot better than the 6th year Rb out of Auburn (Evans); maybe that'll help PC too. 4. Cobbs' pass-blocking was very impressive too, slowed up the DE/LB every time he was supposed to.
  20. The apprentice will usually answer to the Sith Lord, in this case Emporer Palpatine. (its actually the board of regents)
  21. So what does our "first team" O-line look like? LT - Foster LG - Lineberry C - Rose / Drake RG - Banks RT - Peachey That is my best guess; could someone who has been to practice correct this
  22. No, there's not!!! Accepting a player as visible as Bomar will probably require at least the blessing of RV, and maybe permission from higher up. Patterson just didn't decide that TCU wasn't interested, the university stepped. And UNT should proceed with caution, neither OU nor the NCAA has decided what this kid's fate will be. So spending a lot of time courting him may be a futile effort. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see him at UNT, but this one is very complicated and could take a lot of time.
  23. Then how about other schols where the students pay for the athletic events twice, in an essence? My point was that at some juncture the UNt student will have to fork out money to enjoy UNT athletics....like students at other schools. Ask some aggie friends if they have trouble bringing friends to the games; at $65 per ticket. I don't think they do.
  24. That's kind of my point. There is a perception out there about UNT. Where it comes from I don't know. I do agree with Harry (can't remember where he said it): if DD can get a kid to come to campus, he can usually get the committment. Hopefully UNT can start making news again that will change this percpetion; among the community, the student body and fans.
