As much as I enjoyed beating SMU, I don't think yall are that bad off. I think Willis will be pretty good someday, and the running game will work if Martin can get healthy. At the end of the season it may not save Bennet's job; but I honestly am not sure who yall could hire that would be better (remember that SMU doesn't let up on athletes at all in their admission policies).

Yeah, you may acutally have to give DD and RF some credit. The players were pumped up and preapred for this game, and a good offensive game plan was called. That smells of good coaching to me. One last thought: I think that last year's recruiting class (2005) may end up being better than we thought. All that speed and athleticism on defense is paying off.

I was just about to post that observation. They even have one poster named "PhirePhillBennet" Go check it out; its quite fun: http://www.ponyfans.com/msgboard/index1.asp

The Omar kind from Troy could have more yards on FSU than Miamia did -
Please keep the updates coming, I'm at work

I hope the O-line got a talking to. Gonna have to open some things up. -
One of the posters had them made. Firefightinrick had them made.

Just tried Itunes, quicktime, real player and windows media player and all I get is audio. Please help, anyone

He has. Last year, or maybe the year before, Emmit said enough is enough; and he went and gathered posters (season schedules) and walked the city of Denton putting them up in local shops. This was after he had graduated, and he got other GMG.com posters to help. So yeah, he does help. (in one week I have to defend FFR and Emmitt's loyalty as fans. What in the hell is going on?)
-
When I was there (1997-2000), Talons was a little frigthening due to their rabid, devoted promoting of UNT athletics. Emmitt did a helluva job, as that's what a spirit organization should be like.

To quote Norm: No, No, No, No. Illuvius32 addressed that at great length in the podcast.
-
And what Illuvius32 mentioned about playcalling: that was worth my yearly subscription. I had no idea that was how it works. So who is the Buick anyways?

That was refreshing to hear objective analysis of the UT game; and not just moaning and whining. One thing that was not touched on: 2 of SMU's starting linebackers don't break 215 pounds. They may be able to fly to the ball, but will have trouble shedding blocks. That could, and may have already, contribute to the likelyhood of SMU giving up yards on the ground.
-
Outsiders shouldn't need to be motivated. Do you think anyone needs to motivate an Aggie as to why the Friday after Thanksgiving is important?

Saw this link and wanted to post it for the star wideout.

Will any of the GMG photographers be at the game? I am in desperate need for a good desktop background. You want to raise cash for the site - host your game photos on a photog site, and let people buy them. They pay for the size they want, and gmg.com could raise some serious cash. (still looking for the picture of Cobbs pulling the Heisman, in case anyone has it.)

Maybe I am giving DD too mcuh credit, but if he names a starter today then the Ponies will know what to prepare for. Hell, I'd probably name Quinn the starter today and Phillips tomorrow....really confuse the Ponies. Phillips are like night and day to prepare for. This week's "competition" may be a smoke screen to keep Benett on his toes. (before you poke fun, if DD will use stealth recruiting; he would pull somethign like this)
-
I'm sorry Deb, but your defending pretty weak ground here. Members of the band pull the stuff that RV has been trying to stamp out since he got here. Go over to the Texags forum and ask what would happen if a member of the FTAB pulled that stunt; they probably wouldn't understand the question, as their school pride runs so deep. And I'm with Stebo, it doesn't take much to show up in khaki shorts. Hell, I could even to afford those for my janitoring gig in the student union.

Hopefully her opinion didn't change one dammed bit. If the President of a university as large as UNT's is that knee-jerk (and short sighted) then she shouldn't have been hired. Yall people need to take a step back, and realize what last Saturday was: a game that helps to keep the lights on. We used to have 3 of those per year, and now we only have one. That's good. UNT's competitive season starts September 9th, against SMU. If it all goes to hell this Saturday, then it will be time to form a lynch mob, but not after the number 2 team in the nation throttles you.

And the 2nd year in a row that Drew Weatherford has spared us to death. Its only time before FSU fans start calling for Xavier Lee. The only difference is that we didn't see the FSU cowgirls this time. And when is Wrigth finally going to do something. Sticking with him is going to get Larry Coker to the unempoyment office. I did like the fact that Brent Mushburger didn't spare us to death, that was nice.
-
I hadn't noticed that, very weird.
-
Now that is a team with Qb chaos. This is the second year in a row that Weatherford and Wright have spared me for 3 hours. I wonder if Kirby Freeman wants a re-do?
-
uhm, he mentioned Norm; and Norm calls it like he sees it. And more likely than not his is correct. And what is wrong for liking UT, OU, or any other school you may have an affiliation with? Can't someone be a college football fan? Am I wrong for watching the UM/FSU game right now?

Back from the game in Austin.......

No, we listen to his posts becuase he is a first class UNT fan. We respect him because he potentially puts his life on the line evertime he wears a red firefgighter's helmet. No, we got our butts handed to us. Class is something different, and may or may not have anythign to do with athleticism. Congratualtions, you have mastered literacy. Maybe next time you post, you can take time out to insult a different poster (maybe SilverEagle, Harry, or even Glad to be Green). -
So your point is that our redshirt freshman can't cover NFL quality receivers? DD indicated that our defensive backfield was very young, it looks like they all learned some lessons about passing yestreday. I doubt SMU's quarterback will be as talented next Saturday. Yes, the box score isn't that good. Now we are going to prepare fora team that would got beat pretty bad yesterday (by a team that will be owned by UT). Lets see what our d-line can do when they aren't trying to get around folks that were considered first round draft picks last year. Yeah, Blalock would have been a frst rounder last year. We are going to give SMU one helluva fight; and I can't wait.
-
You're trying to apply logic to a system that has their first rankings in the middle of July. With the stakes what they are for UT, its not too early. Hell, UT never called off the dogs on Colorado....and that got bad.
