  1. I am listening to Bradie James on the Cowboys post game show. he mentioned that they need to correct the penalties, he then went on to say that penalties are on the players, not the coaches. he said they just need to be more disciplined. I thought they was a interesting perspective on penalties.
  2. I heard that the stadium fund was depleted so that Lee Jackson could have a statue of himself erected on that spot. Its going to be very Stalinesque.
  3. Those weren't whispers, they were the comments of a ESPN announcer taken out of context.
  4. Here's an idea for increased attendance that I stole: Step 1: In each of the contests, especially the early one, score more points than the opponent. Step 2: Repeat Step 1 is especially crucial in important games, such as the first round of teh conference tournament. This magic formula has been proven to work, especially over long periods of time (winning three OOC games against Cameron isn't going to cut it).
  5. I think this statement was one of the most telling. And begs the question: If DD didn't recruit well in the bowl years, what kind of chance do you have when you go 2-9?
  6. They should disbar him and Eric Dickerson as alumni; after the Pony Express members suggested that SMU give up fotoball. Yeah, they both suggested that. I cannot think of a lower life form than Craig James.
  7. Maybe the better question is whether the coaches and staff support the players? That's where it has to start. (And I would say that not putting your players in a postion to wins games indicates a lack of support)
  8. That was my first clue that you didn't know what you are talking about.
  9. Enough that my concern is no longer durability but should he keep playing? He's had quite a few in a relatively short period of time.
  10. That's a good question. I shall offer an example: How do you remember the Vic Trilli era of basketball? As the man who bought green paint from Walmart so that his team could re-paint the Super Pit (it used to be UT orange)? As the man who brought in a top 25 ranked recruiting class (top 25 in the nation)No, we all remember those horrible losses to UConn, UT and others. And then we remember watching Deginald Erskin and Jason Miller lead UT and OSU to Sweet 16s after leaving UNT. RV is gonna hanve to change the direction of the losers momentum that is starting form; otherwise his accomplishments will probably be overshadowed by the negatives.
  11. Wow, that's very disturbing.
  12. When will UNT score another touchdown?
  13. I realized today that I haven't posted much this season, and my agent indicated that she's been getting calls about a public statement on my thoughts on the season....so here it goes: In most of the games this year, it appears as if our talent level was fairly close to our opponents. The O-line blocked during the SMU game, so that tells me it can be done. Which also tells me it has quite a lot to do with schemes and motiviation. This was one of the worst managed games ever. The double time out was the crowning moment. Hank Dickenson, paud UNT staff, was really having trouble justifying that one.Which brings me to the radio broadcast. Shouldn't a Senior Athletic Director be so busy fundraising for a stadium that he doesn't have time to do the color commentary? In a time where we complain about not having funds to retian assistant coaches, it seems that we are grossly overpaying for color commentaryUnless Brandon Kennedy's clone is out there, prepare for a defense that will be just as poruous next year. Defenses are built from the inside out, and I don't see any help on the way.Just think what our offense will be like next year w/o Quinn; that thought frightens me.Unless something really changes, like w/o Jamario really, really frightens me. Recruiting a running back will be vital this off-season.As bad as La Tech is this year, I am still frightened by that game. That game today drained so much of my life force.
  14. This is just bad football. I know predict the final score to be 7-5.
  15. Well, its a broadcast where 3 guys discuss UNT sports. It goes like this: Evan brings up sports points that Harry discusses. Evan and Harry then bring up topics that send MeanRob into a tirade.
  16. Because Meager played about as well as that play calling would let him. He threw two excellent passes on crossing routes to Nwigwe. I didn't even think we had plays that wetn across the middle. Its weird that we will go back to the same running play over and over; but won't do that on plays to Nwigwe ovewr the middle or to our newfound tight end (Collins). All year long I thought the defense was tired becuase the offense kept them on the field. Now I realize they are on the field because they don't make stops. Unfortunately this is a offense built from the outside in; which ain't how you do it. Maybe someone will teach the center to not step on the quarterback; its makes playing that position even harder.
  17. That's probably because Rivals just hired a new marketing guy. His salary is paid for partly by Rivals and partly by the BCS.
  18. Here's something I haven't read in awhile: We go through the 2006 season with no Qb really asserting himself. Setting ourselves up for the 4-way Qb contest next spring (Wilson, Phillips, Meager, and Tune). That should be enough quarterbacks so that none of them get any real practice time.
  19. Second post in a row that is very troll-like. I thought trolls were taken care of by the moderators.
  20. I would do what he tried last off-season and go after a stud O-lineman to anchor the line. And pray that he odesn't flop like Stanley. I would also take the lineman that were recruited, and commit them to positions (be it d-line or o-line). I have always contended that flip-flopping lines has hindered the development of Alexander, Brown and Venegas.
  21. That sounds similar to DD's current contract. I don't remember them all, but I do remember seeign incentive bonuses for each week that UNT is ranked in the top 25.
  22. I find it assuring that our top tackler lately has been a linebacker and not a safety (like last season).
  23. There was one point that Harry asked that was never addressed: defensive line. My question: I keep hearing how this is a young defense. For the secondary and the linebackers I totally agree. I disagree on the D-line. The tackle is a Sr., and I haven't heard yall discuss about what 2005 or 2006 recruit is waiting in the wings that could step up. Maybe a point for future discussion: the state of the D-line; and where its going.
  24. Intro music, that's mighty fancy.
  25. Thanks. I really like it because they don't use real big words, and its really large font (in case you have trouble sounding out words).
