I am happy that people are freaking out. It would bother me if no one gave a damn. To me it means that folks care about what happens on and of the field. It means that folks care how the university is perceived. I will reiterate: Imagine for once second: what would happen if either team rolled out next Friday morning (UT vs TAMU) in black uniforms? There would probably be an investigation led by the state Attorney General. I hope he broke the terms of his contract, and just forfeited $500k.

And then Grandy's keeps sending you $4,000 per week for the next 2 years? I think that's the part where the analogy breaks down.

Williams did make some nice coverage plays today. He defend the hell out out of Newman's interception. He is the Free Safety. That means coverage. He should learn to get better at all of his job, not just the parts that get him on Sportscenter. And start watching when unloads on someone. More often than not, he is leading with his head. He has already got nailed for that twice this year. He is a very talented player, but he will give you the missed coverage or boneheaded play once or twice a game; and that's way too much for the money he's making.

My list of most frustrating Cowboys: 1. Vanderjacht (2 Field Goals missed?) 2. Flozel Adams (A pile of potatoes could paly LT as well as he could, the the pile of potatoes would false start or chop block) 3. Roy Williams (most over rated safety ever. Struggles in pass coverage. Though he managed to stumble into an INT today).

And the midterm period is right around the 14th of December, in case we happen to need any JUCOS (like a LT, RT, LG, RG & DT). As hyped as I am about this hire, it will probably stunt the recruiting for this year (unless we hire someone like Nix who could bring his recruits with him).

I watched the tOSU vs Michigan game today. I am sure that Michigan has been wearing that combo for a hundred years. Do you know what that is? It's called tradition. Something that is very hard to get going whenever an administrator or coach decides to arbitrarily make a change because it suit them. Take a second and imagine what would happen if Fran pulled this type of stunt in BCS? The students would probably burn down most of the county. And for dammed good reason. They ought to fire DD for this. Is it possible to fire someone who's already been canned?

I think the real story is that 2 people listened to Rome today. I live in Southern California, and I make it a point to avoid him. I did see the story in the USA Today this morning.

Perception come from history. And we have a history of playing those body bag games. It is gonna take some time to change that perception (losing by 77 points in those games doesn't help that perception either).

I think this process is similar to naming a baby. When choosing a baby's name I have always heard that you should never reveal the name before birth; as someone will always have an anecdote about someone they knew with that name that they didn't care for. For example: I am gun shy of star quarterbacks as head coaches or offensive coordinators. Especially ones that learned their craft at SMU; they tend to not be very creative offensively. I am still not sure how the Dodge thing would go; but that is a guy who does know how to win. And their is something to be said about that.

Then why have the coaches kept WVU in the top ten, after getting annihilated? This year there is a bias against the top of the Big East (could be that its a weak conference). Rutgers is a little different, in that they aren't the TV darlings like Notre Dame or Florida.

I am amused the the power conferences created a set of rules that excluded schools that they didn't want in their BCS games. Well, Rutgers and Boise St have gone and screwed that up. For the moment I am a Rutgers and Boise St fan. I really hope they both end up in BCS games.

That raises a good question: when does that decision occur? He donated that money quite some time ago. I would think the decision would have been made then. I would think it would be in the paperwork associated with donating that much money. My only point is that I don't think you can change your mind more than a year later about where your money goes. I don't know much about what happens when you donate a million.

You are right, it was his money. Until he gave it to the university some time ago (12-18 months). He wants to renege on the deal, because his buddy got fired.

Here's the DRC recap of the game. I would have to disagree with DD here. I would think attending the funeral of your Qb/friend would be more of a distraction than DD being fired.

I think this also shows how entrenched DD was as the head coach. Not only did RV had to weigh football related ramifications of firing DD, but also crap like this. Luckily RV decided that our athletic department would not be held hostage by one man. I guess that means its up to us the masses now to open our check books and prove RV right.

I think you may be the winner. I think it will be very hard for any candidate to come in with a resume better than Nix's (DC at South Carolina). And I am okay with getting a coordinators from a SEC school. Something to think about: if we try and upgrade at the head coaching position, will the university make the necessary financial commitment to pay assistant coaches? And coach worth his salt will want some good assistants, which means giving assistant coaches more money.
