  1. If you look closely at footage of DD on the sidelines, there was always a young man following him around holding DD's Diet Coke. Without a doubt, this individual was always around DD holding a cup of Diet Coke. We named him "Diet Coke Boy."
  2. I just had a flashback to our run defense last year and had shutters. I hope Mendoza is able to turn that around, becuase the Midshipman will test that by running 30-40 times.
  3. That's what RC Slocum said about a quarterback from Austin Westlake, so Drew Brees decided to go to Purdue instead.
  4. Okay, then explain this: Why wasn't Insall offered by Utah State? Why didn't DD take Insall with him to Utah State? That question has nothing to do with the "alter of Todd". But you have avoided addressing that kind of logic.
  5. I think the problem comes from the fact that Rivals ranks teams based on total points, not average stars (other wise they would have USC as number 1). They give out 3 points for a 2-star, and 8 points for a 3-star. I think its like 32 points for a 4-star (hoepfully we will figure that out next year).
  6. I think the biggest similarity is that Johnson was quoted as saying how much he works with the Juggs machine catching balls. I remember reading how JQ would work each morning at McKinney catching balls from the Juggs machine until his hands blead.
  7. No, bigger schools pull scholarships all the time. Some kids have their 'ship pulled just for visiting another school. I was pointing out that this author seemed to have a personnel interest in Insall. If this kid is such a badass, and so loyal to DD: then how come he didn't get offered to go to Utah State? Why didn't DD honor the scholarship offer and give the kid an oppurtunity at Utah State?
  8. At what point does this kid not take responsibility for taking things into his hands? After Dickey was fired did he start sending videos to coaches, and try to sell himself? Did he at least send some film to TD? I didn't know that Insall's father was a writer for the Abilen paper.
  9. I don't think it hurts us or helps us. Most Div 1 top tier QBs graduate early so that they can get into spring ball. Snead did that at UT, and Ryan Mallett has been in Michigan since January. It gives them that much more time to learn the system. I think that Chase Daniels at Mizzou will be our best selling point for Riley in that he has shown what can happen when a SLC QB goes into the the same system.
  10. If you take your kids to the MLB HOF, will you skip the Ty Cobb exhibit becuase he was a racist a-hole? Will you skip the Babe Ruth exhibit because he was a drunk and a womanizer? My point is not that you are wrong in your stance, but that there are quite a few athletes who weren't model citizens. If we left out all the athletes who broke the law, the baseball HOF would just be Cal Ripken...and Canton wouldn't be too fuller.
  11. Someone posted on the main board that David Collins (DE/TE) wasn't enrolled at UNT right now.
  12. I don't question what you say about Pro day, but I am having trouble differentiating the profile of this class from 2 years ago. Here's what I was sold 2 years ago: This represents 7 out of 24 of the signees from that class. I see similar speed numbers from this years' class. I guess the final conclusion won't come until we get the signees in pads and time them?
  13. The class from 2 years ago was pretty fast. I think the key is how you use that speed. Playing a soft 10 yard buffer for a B doesn't necessarily utilize all that speed.
  14. I wanted to highlight this, for those of you who haven't been around long enough to remember the lunacy of the previous administrations. Thanks RV.
  15. That's gonna be one physical corner.

    Wow

I was worried that my employer had blocked gmg with a firewall...luckily not.
  17. Uhm, he had commited to UTEP, and also had an offer from Houston. DD (or staff) talked him out of UTEP, and into coming to UNT. That was 2005 (2 years ago). Which part of that do you not believe?
  18. That's very, very interesting. And a very under-rated post.
  19. Eldrick Gilmore. So that would be 2 years ago.
  20. The last stadium related post was a DRC article. So would you like us to stop posting article posted by news agencies? (I suspect that you are requesting no more posts entitled "STADIUM IS A HOAX. ATHLETIC CENTER DESTROYED BY HURRICANE")
  21. And it looks like he will be headed to UNT to play safety.
  22. Even more so, 2 years ago Ryan Perriloux (LSU commit) was text messaging Martellus Bennet (eventually committed to TAMU) trying to convince Bennet to come to LSU with him. They had never played together, just trying to keep up with where everyone else is going....
  23. Will the transfer from Navy have to sit out a year? How much eligibility will he have remaining?
  24. My thought is that Dodge will not have to hold back a scholarship, as I have a suspicion that spring drills will clear one or two of those. And we still don't know about grades. Folks seemed to gloss over Stick82's post the other day about David Collins not being at UNT (me thinks I know how that poster is so informed).
  25. The (not my) problem with the quoted post is that for years DD (more accurately Kenny Evans) would find hidden gems like Cobbs (who didn't have a lot of stars or where on the vaunted DMN top 100 list). Now TD recruits kids off this list, and the crowd rejoices. A rival school recruits someone, and Rivals raises the numbers of stars attributed to that player. The crowd, previously rejoicing, now decides that stars don't matter, and that a true measure is how much a player can be coached? Do I think that this is a talented class: yes. Do I think that some folks are having their cake, and eating it too: yes. [iMHO, the stars only matter when its 3 or more, an indicator that you've got a real player on your hands. All 2-star recruits can only be distinguished by the coach pulling the trigger on the offer). Please bookmark this post, so that when TD finds a 4-star recruit, we can revisit this.
