  1. I just stumbled on this, and am quite stoked. Though very worried they might screw it up.
  2. I wonder if he sat around trying to think of a 20th reason, so that he'd have a nice even number...it did he go into it shooting for a prime number?
  3. So I guess the SMU interview was to provide leverage for his UH raise. What is the current over/under on SMU getting a coach: the ides of March?
  4. If they have the more talented team last night, then that means that they either underperformed; or just weren't motivated. I am gonna rule out the latter. And remember, this is a V-tech team that got man handled pretty good by East Carolina. This team had some obvious holes in it.
  5. I am out on the up and comer, because for years we heard that Ramon Flannigan was the young up and coming Offensive Coordinator.
  6. It means that we would more than likely keep those; and that there is a greater than snowballs chance in hell that he would bring some of his UT commits with him
  7. This generates revenue. Revenue is required for things like a football stadium; increased coaches salaries' increased recruiting budget, etc. Oh, and I am pretty sure that this price increase won't run off potential stadium donors (before someone responds with that). If you are thinking of shelling out cash for a stadium, you probably have the extra $25 (for theincrease).
  8. Stupid sports question: At the start of the game, they said that Bradford le the nation with a passer rating of 165. Why is it that is higher than 153, which I have always thought was the cap for a passer rating Does the NFL use a different formula?
  9. Genius post.
  10. I was referring to coaches that have teaching ability (Tulsa, UCLA, and somewhere else I can't remember).
  11. Ramon Flannigan did that at SMU. Played for six seasons over there.
  12. Well, one of the reasons our defense went to hell was the departure of several defensive coaches. And we also got robbed of some O-line coaches too. So I would say that makes it a stepping stone.
  13. I think there's a new poster child for the "Texas Douche." There is a thread over on texags where some folks went to town on this douche in photoshop. Good stuff.
  14. If Troy gets robbed of their offensive coordinator and their stud Qb recruit; they could be a drastically different team. That Omar kid was a game changer.
  15. And somehow Gumball is so bad that he makes Collinsworth sound pretty good.
  16. He probably wants to be reimbursed for emotional distress too.
  17. Its a small college. Dallas Green is still struggling with the loss to FIU. Though we should all be thankful that Dallas Green isn't a Michigan fan, or probably would have driven off a cliff after their loss to Appalachian State. I can't wait for us to start winning, so that we will have something to drown out the whining and complaining from the fair weather fans.
  18. From your example, you imply that you have a set criteria for what an F or a C is, right? Those objectives are set out beforehand. To continue to sue this example, some profs call an A 100%-90% while others call it 100%-85%. They tell you this up front (most of the time). That is my point. What is the criteria (the season's objectives) that folks set up last March or July? You grade the performance based on those criteria. I think some folks have changed criteria as teh season went on, based on emotion or other factors.
  19. So to be consistent, you graded 2001 an F (5-7 record and lost a bowl game)? You also graded the last 2 years an F also? Out of curiosity, what's an A? 6 wins? 12 wins?
  20. Grades are results based, relative to the objectives set forth at the beginning. That's why each of us probably have some objectives at work that we are measured against. So now the real question is: did everyone set reasonable objectives? Doesn't sound like it. But that's ok, that's what college football fans do. But don't grade the entire team an F because the green kool-aid tasted better than ever. So in each of these categories, what did everyone expect?did the team meet those expectations?
  21. I think the question is why did they play the exhibition game midway though the season. Just seems odd.
  22. That means you have considerably less invested in this thing than Todd Dodge does. He staked his career and reputation on this gig, and we have to have some faith that he wants to turn this thing around more than a fan. And another thing, many of us know how bad this season was. And just because you donated cash, doesn't guarantee a winner. Nor was it an investment. you made a charitable contribution to help fund young men get a college education. keep that in mind. They were predictions, some of them before the season began. To say that the fans were lied to is a farse (at best). And what was he supposed to say, "I'd like to thank Darrel Dickey for leaving me no team speed, a general lack of team discipline, and 15 blocking tight ends" His safeties mean that he was as good a return man as Jamel Branch, if you want to get right down to it. And you never even addressed my other points about the rst of speciual teams. Roman wasn't a gunner. he didn't cover kicks. He didn't miss any field goals. Do we even want to address how many points were lost through field golas last year? Or worse, how many 4th down trys we went for because it would have been longer than a 25 yard try? Nope, because you would like to hang it all on Roman's head. And did you stop and think about his play at corner for a minute. The fact that he was on the field is a statement of how bad our secondary was. He got smoke, especially against OU. And I think that is why TD is bringing in some of the best talent around to fix our secondary. After the deserters left the team, that just didn't leave a lot of depth in the secondary. You probably didn't find my post enlightening, as I am choosing to make football points (or the use of multi-syllabic words). I am not going to rattle on, posting emotionally as if i just returned from another road loss. And yes it can be worse. DD could still be the head coach, and this program could be going nowhere. We would be sitting right now, quietly whispering about whether or not DD had started recruiting yet. And losing to a crappy team is not the measure of a season. It sucked losing to Troy to be 5-6; but a whole lot of folks where stupid drunk because UNT was headed to a bowl game. And that was a loss to a DII Troy. I don't mind standing alone on this one, hollaring into the wind: TD will turn this thing around. And it will happen quickly.
  23. So you graded all of the failures of the special teams on Roman? He wasn't the one sucking at field goals. He wasn't the one missing tackles in the return game. Yeah, he made some mistakes; but what does it tell you that he was the guy who won that job? Probably that the other folks sucked worse at it. Intangibles an F? Did you listen to Dodge? When he said it would be hard sledding, but asked all the fans to be loyal through these hard times. A team losing isn't a lie. Jury still out on recruiting? Have you noticed that TD has managed to find a better recruiting class than DD ever did (even after a NO Bowl win)? Yeah, we may lose a commitments or two, but that's what happened when you recruit against the likes of Kentucky, OU lite, and others (as opposed to directional LA schools and DII schools). I just can't grade your report card any higher than a F-. Yeah, it lacked insight, effort and just wasn't put together very well.
  24. I am hoping that they use this game to illustrate why he shouldn't ever be allowed in the booth again. They seriously need to money-whip someone to come over and replace him.
