While you have a point here...right or wrong, we as humans consider dogs and cats to be companions with their own feelings. Therefore, dogs and cats will always be looked upon differently than the birds used in cockfighting. That's just how it is. Sure, strays and racing dogs are put down everyday, but it is done in a humane and, if you want to call it this, dignified manner. The employees of the local pound aren't getting their jollies from drowning and hanging dogs just because they don't perform well. Knowing owners of racing dogs...a large percentage of those dogs, more of often than not, are retired and become pets. Sure, some of them are destroyed, but usually euthanized humanely and not brutally destroyed for the owners' amusement. That's the key thing here. All of this was done for the enjoyment and amusement of Vick and his "homies". I don't understand how anyone can even begin to defend it. I think Corby Davidson said it best last week on The Ticket. "I don't want to hear about how you grew up with this and this is part of your culture. You are trash. It's white trash and it's black trash participating this stuff...and there is no middle ground." The worst America has to offer is what is participating in this so-called "sport" and, while I understand the logic behind Tony's arguments here (and know that he is not defending Vick's actions), actually defending these actions makes one look pretty bad.
