  1. Evan, Keep them coming for those of us who can't make it...
  2. Patrick! You're alive! Where the hell are you?
  3. So, I was thinking...I'm willing to put up $100 bucks cash into the stadium fund Monday morning if we beat Tulsa tonight. Who is with me?
  4. Probably better than GreenGuano. LOL! Welcome aboard! Invite your friends!
  5. I don't care who's stadium it resembles as long as it is built and our boys are playing in it...
  6. I, like many, am growing pretty weary of letting college kids decide if they should pick up the tab for something. There are too many that don't want to contribute to the betterment of their university at all for the sake of saving them a few bucks on a total bill that is still less than most comparable universities. WARNING...HSO.
  7. I tried to be diplomatic about it, but someone just haaaaad to taunt Happy Fun Moderator. OK, fine...let's just do it this way instead. I'm a pretty progressive mod, so I won't discontinue all political discussion forever. However, I am suspending all political discussion for one week starting now. Allow me to put it in big letters so all can see... NO POLITICAL DISCUSSIONS ON GOMEANGREEN.COM UNTIL FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th, 2008 AT 1700 ZULU TIME. Anyone posting ANYTHING regarding the election or anything else political (unless it is some kind of bond election or something for a new stadium...) will find themselves unable to contribute anything to GoMeanGreen.com for until the moratorium on political discussions is over. All political threads are now closed.
  8. Well, for starters, his name is spelled Chone.
  9. I'm all for level headed political discussion...however, 99.99999% of Americans (including myself, on occasion) are incapable of such. Most are incapable of carrying a conversation about politics without taking it personally or trying like hell to make someone else look stupid. That said, from here on in, I'm just going to shut down/delete anything where left-wing/right-wing/chicken-wing blogs are the sole source of information a poster can muster. In fact, I don't want to see any spin. So, if you're going to try to back up your arguments...they now must be backed up by unbiased, non-American news source such as The Guardian. Otherwise, none of us want to hear it. And, I know at least a few of you just had the little idea pop into your head to just try to keep me busy by posting crap...in that case, I'll just start handing out post moderations and unfortunate vacations at will with no notice.
  10. Welcome, Mike! I know you've been lurking for years...but, just a reminder, don't take anyone too seriously here. You'll wind up severely disappointed.
  11. I have a few of those. Well, mainly just one. She's a witch, though, so she probably wouldn't burn. No, really.
  12. We had a thread going a while back about good documentaries and I mentioned "Be Here To Love Me" about Townes Van Zandt. I found this tonight...the full documentary online.
  13. With pleasure...I'm getting really, really annoyed with this thread and others. We each have our own political, social, religious, etc. beliefs...and no one is likely going to sway the other side. Therefore, this whole thing is nothing more than "na-na-boo-boo" for both sides. After reading all of this crap, voting Libertarian doesn't sound like such a bad idea... Best to shut it down before someone gets their feelings hurt and starts to cry.
  14. Both parties are equally guilty of things of that nature. One party, however, often publicly paints the other as immoral when they have been found committing the same "sins".
  15. Don Lafontaine was kind of a hero of mine. Always thought he was awesome.
  16. Kinda like when the right-wing nutjobs at Focus on the Family put out a video online with a plea that their followers "pray for rain of Biblical proportions to fall on Denver" on the night of Obama's speech? There are people on both sides who suck. It doesn't make McCain or Obama responsible for the personal opinions of idiots. Neither do McCain and Joe Biden. Based on that description, all four are qualified. The 24 hour news cycle is making us all stupid. Every single president in our history likely had similar experience levels of these four people. Some had less. Some of our best leaders weren't the most moral people. Some of the least likely great leaders turned out to be amazing. The microscopic scrutiny these people and their families are under is getting ridiculous. Every president up to and including Reagan didn't have to contend with the 24 hour news cycle. If they had to contend with that crap...Abe Lincoln, FDR, JFK, and many more would never have made it.
  17. Latest track models indicate this sucker will park itself over North Central Texas by midweek. No bueno...
  18. That's a helluva way to redirect attention from the unsubstantiated rumours floating on around on the blogs. Sucks for her daughter that they have to drag this out in public...sucks for her family in general.
  19. Thank you, Smitty, for always being the reasonable one.
  20. What does it matter? If they want to protest peacefully, let them. Last I checked the First Amendment covers dissent.
  21. Gotta love an airport that reminds you on the Jepp charts that there might be deer on the runway.
  22. While I agree with SE66's statement and Godwin's Law is always fun...and while I interpret the forum rules MUCH more liberally than the other mods...this, unfortunately, has to be done. Cerebus posted THIS back on August 8th, 2008. The CliffNotes of said post stated there would be two-week bans for the next people to mention anything related to Nazis. I'm not going to don't do anything hardcore like a two-week ban without running it by Cerebus, but I am inclined to put you guys on probation for a minimum of a day or two with a possible extension. Sorry...I am required to do my master's bidding.
