  1. Who cares...last I was in Dallas, Norm's ticker guy was a North Texas guy, through and through*. That's all that matters, ain't that right GGB?
  2. I dare...as soon as I can get around to it. I'm open to just about anything...however, I tend to find myself on the liberal side of some things, conservative on others. Here's the thing...what is your definition of "open mind"? Conservatives don't exactly have a great history of "open-mindedness".
  3. Rick...let's put it like this. First and foremost, I agree with you that Irena Sendler was much more deserving than Al Gore. The fact that she has been passed over for her efforts during the Holocaust is nuts. God bless her and people like her during that ridiculous time in history. Something tells me she died at peace despite never having been given an award for doing what she knew was right. That said, I say Emmitt "wins" because...if there were no mention of Al Gore...you would likely not have cared enough to share her story or publicly show your disgust toward the Nobel committee. You probably would have looked at the story, thought to yourself what an amazing lady she must have been, , maybe thanked God for people like her, and moved on. However, because you saw the name "Al Gore"...you made it your personal mission to rip on everything the man has done to bring the climate issue to the forefront (which, I must ask, if John McCain were the one who made "An Inconvenient Truth" and giving lectures about the "Climate Crisis", instead of Al Gore...would you hold such disdain for the subject and the messenger?). And, let's face it, time will tell on Gore's theories (and, before you make assumptions just because I'm a "lib"...I'm not entirely convinced of a full-on change, either), but he had us thinking more about our impact on the Earth well before oil went through the roof.
  4. Let us not forget who the predominant religion is up in Idaho (hint: what state borders ID to the south?). Welcome to our exstence out here...Boise State apparently has similar problems.
  5. And this, my friends, is why politics are stupid. We allow them to make semi-rational people, like Rick (I say 'semi-' because I know you Rick...), get into pissing matches over some fairly ridiculous subjects. Kit isn't desperate to prove anything...nor are you Rick. Each have an opinion, you're both entitled...and, at this point, all you can do is agree to disagree.
  6. I second this. Brett is, by all accounts, a pretty fair guy...Just because what he reports isn't shiny, happy, good-times doesn't mean it isn't true. Why does everything have to be a conspiracy?
  7. I wish to nominate Tobi Padwick as "Denton County Resident of the Year" (if such an award exists).
  8. You don't seem to get it, Rick. The majority of hackers don't really care who they're hacking...or have a side. It's all for the fun of it. And, when you are using a web-mail account for government business...and someone catches wind of that...it's like an open invite to screw with them... Now, Rick...where is the slander? All I see there is truth. Can someone please point me in the direction of the Palin porn?
  9. Mmmm...Kate Bosworth in Blue Crush...mmmmm.
  10. Kiowa is a crappy, pseudo-upscale, gated, lake community...southeast of Gainesville proper, up in Cooke County. Believe me, you do NOT drink the water at Lake Kiowa.
  11. Geezers from Lake Kiowa do nothing but complain...non-stop. I think GreenBat's comment wins...
  12. Regardless...it's not the Obama campaign or the DNC sitting around the office trying to guess at Palin's password, as so many on the right seem to think. When it comes to little things like hacking your Yahoo! email, "Anonymous" can very well be a force to be reckoned with if they don't particularly like you. And, if they unintentionally uncovered the fact that the Palin Administration was conducting state business with free, anonymous, web-based email accounts...then more power to them. There is a reason the email accounts of government officials (not to mention the email accounts of pretty much everyone working in the offices of publicly-traded companies) are archived...and Palin, et al, should not be exempted (just to be fair, nor should Obama if he were doing such a thing).
  13. Damn you for beating me to it.
  14. Underrated post...
  15. In regards to her rendition...all I can say is "Where the hell was George Teague when you needed him?". That said, if you're gonna mess with The Star-Spangled Banner...do it right. QRvVzaQ6i8A&hl Kinda makes ya want to turn down the lights, invite a lady friend or two over, break out some Courvoisier, and pay respects to our country.
  16. Last Monday...my stomach hurt all day at work. Figuring it was just something I ate, I went to dinner with some friends, went home, and packed my backpack for a quick trip to Boston. The plan was to hang at the Cask'n Flagon and try to score a ticket to the Sox/Rays game. I was packed, dressed, and ready to drive to Vegas to catch the red-eye on JetBlue up to Boston when my stomach pain got way, way worse. I talked to a couple of friends and they convinced me to go to the emergency room around 9pm. A gallon of piss, 4 vials of blood, and a CT scan later...they decided my appy needed to go. I stayed overnight and, by 0700 the next morning, I was under the knife having my appendix yanked out. I was on my feet by noon and at home by 1800. I took my next two scheduled days off just hanging out at home. It was really a total non-event. No rupture. I was back to work on Friday as scheduled. My stomach muscles still hurt a little...but that's fading fast. No biggie.
  17. It was pretty scary at first...but I'm coping with my newfound lack of an appendix. I hope someone makes a little money off of it on the black market.
  18. This is not going to be pretty...
  19. Has that guy become self-aware, yet? Oh, and just to help really derail this charlie-foxtrot of a thread...here's some Erin Andrews for ya...
  20. Shoooot...I was home within 12 hours of surgery and back to work within only a couple of days (just because this happened on my scheduled days off). Just hurts to laugh...
  21. Considering I've been out of commission post-appendectomy...have at it whilst my give a damn is broken. Tony had it right...noon DFW time...close enough. I'm surprised you guys made it that long. I blame this for the appendicitis...it scared my appendix into damn near exploding. Seriously...there was 15 minutes on Monday morning where I thought I might be out of a job (our biggest feeder contract is with United).
  22. Not bad for a guy that so many around here were so willing to write off because of his brother's troubles...
  23. I think DallasGreen summed it up best...
