  1. Putting his spin on things is what the blog allows. ¡Newsflash!...Blogs are opinion pieces. Once again, the truth hurts, yet you take it out on the guy reporting it rather than the people committing the sins. Maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't have a reason to "aim at UNT fans", so you claim, in his blogs if they would stop calling him a douche when he does his job properly. You all hate him because he's not your beloved Tim MacMahon...but, you need to face the facts that even Timmy Mac would have essentially the same things to say about this program (and, for that matter, it's fans...whom even I am starting to loathe more and more each day I read this board) if he were locked out & intentionally misdirected by Todd Dodge and the rest of the UNT Athletic Department the way Brett Vito has. Considering the crap Vito has had to deal with from North Texas Athletics officials and fans, I think he has remained a steady, even-handed journalist. All I'm hearing is a bunch of misguided anger towards the guy who did exactly what you people complain about the most in regards to the local media...he reported the story with honesty and fairness. He dotted the "i's", crossed the "t's", didn't go as far as to name names (when he very well could have)...which is more than you can say for most journalists of any discipline in the North Texas market. I'm not saying it's an award-winning piece by any means...but it is reporting by the book.
  2. He keeps the commentary on the blog...and actual, factual reporting in his articles. He does a great job of keeping the two separate. The truth hurts sometimes. I, for one, applaud Brett for being ballsy enough to go after this story. Dodge's lapdog, Troy Phillips, sure as hell wasn't going to touch it.
  3. Sweet! That's a title I'd rather have than the other two. LOL! Besides...NT was already kinda known as a pothead school.
  4. Methinks you misread or misunderstood Stebo's post. And your point? It's in the news...there's no hiding that.
  5. Well put, Stebo...I'm as guilty as anyone (or at least those of us who knew about much of the "goings-on" during Dickey's time here) for forgetting the covered-up transgressions of those teams. As for Brett's filing an FOI request...I say, "thank you for having the balls to do it". I think those of us who give to the program, either in time or monetarily, at least have a right to know what is going on.
  6. Perhaps he should be...
  7. That was the best 1,000th post...ever.
  8. If you want to be sure, shouldn't you nuke him from orbit?
  9. You now owe a Utah-based regional airline one keyboard. Wasn't quite expecting Nostradamus' return there.
  10. Another funny!
  11. As far as current cast members go...Armisen is probably the only good choice. It's too bad his "creepy" persona shines through every character he plays. The Biden/Murtha sketch was pretty funny... “I want to clear the air about something I said last week, when I suggested that the good people here in western Pennsylvania here are racists. That’s not what I meant to say. It’s more that they’re ignorant. They don’t know any better, especially your older ones. They’re just bone ignorant". Jon Hamm's John Ham appealed to the 12 year old in me. That out of the way...is it weird that I have a bit of a thing for featured player Casey Wilson?
  12. I'm no big basketball fan...but this is all I have to look forward to. No kidding. I fail one, even if I go to Amsterdamn on vacation and catch second-hand...I lose my certificate and my career is over. Gotta disagree...in Got5onIt's scenario, I don't think we're just talking about the usual suspects of pot, cocaine, acid, etc. Prescription painkillers are pretty big amongst college students... All said...I consider 17% to be a loss of control of the team by Coach Dodge. If the next round of tests comes back even 5% positive, some serious questions need to be asked.
  13. FTFA: I have to say, at 0-8, we're consistent at something...
  14. These would actually be great ideas...the first one would be a great way to laugh at ourselves.
  15. I just find it funny that the people that make up the vast majority of those calling Obama a "socialist" have no idea what the definition of "socialism" is. Of course, they live in the "Real America", y'know the truly patriotic places in America... Wake up, people...both campaigns have mastered the use of buzzwords. The GOP have just mastered the art of bastardizing words like "patriotism" for their gain...to the point that even argument over it's definition has become divisive. Isn't that the entire GOP platform?...divide and conquer?
  16. Bass, I agree with you on all points...especially the part about Dodge needing to check the ego. This whole logic of "if they can do it, so can we..." has got to stop. We obviously don't have the athletes...or, more to the point, the coaching...that "they" have to get it done. That said, offensive issues can be thrown aside until we drop a small atom bomb on our defense and start over. Actually...it might just be time to start over altogether. I mean...I was in town and couldn't even muster the stomach to come watch this monkey-f**kin'-a-football that is "Dodgeball"...and I always considered myself to be a die hard.
  17. I';m just happy to know that they got their daily copy of the RNC Talking Points. God knows they're incapable of coming up with that on their own...
  18. I'm just not in the mood for another one...sorry, fellas.
  19. NFL: Dallas Cowboys. I'm kinda like Quoner where I scream and cuss at the TV when they play...but win or lose, at the end of the day I'm just not affected by it the way some are. NBA: Mavericks...strictly because they're all I know. I know little about basketball, but I'll get into the playoffs as long as the Mavs are there. Mark Cuban is the coolest MoFo owner and my step-dad took me to games when I was young... NHL: Stars. Again, I'll watch if they're on TV, but I don't follow them religiously or anything. MLB: Rangers and Red Sox. I still very much love the Rangers and love trips to the Ballpark. I remember seeing Nolan Ryan at old Arlington Stadium. I remember Sammy Sosa's first major league homer (off Roger Clemens, I believe). The Rangers will always be my first love. That said, I feel I should explain how the Red Sox became my team. Back in 01-02 I was dating a girl from New Hampshire. Because of her and the time I spent in the area, I fell in love with Boston, the Sox, Fenway, the history, etc. I also kinda fell into the whole "having your heart broken" every year thing (at least you had some history to talk about with the Sox...as opposed to just having your heart broken with the Rangers every year). When the two play against each other, I root for the one with the worse record...unless it's a doubleheader, then I take two hats and two shirts..one for each game...lol! Soccer: I dig the Premiership, in part, for the same reasons Cerebus does...the whole thing just fascinates me. I follow Arsenal a little bit...and I'm really looking forward to possible making a trip to see a match at Emirates Stadium. College: NT, of course. That needs no explanation. I figure we're all people of better character for having endured. I also follow Notre Dame a little bit because of the many friends I made from my work at Camp Sweeney. Most of the counselor staff was hired from ND, so I've seen a few games in South Bend. Other: Motocross/Supercross - Dad took me and my little bro to the Supercross races at Texas Stadium when we were kids...and ever since I saw Jeremy McGrath Nac-Nac over the triples...I was a fan. I still try to make a race every year...
  20. Makes sense... CH-47 is a Chinook.
  21. Do I care about either team?...No. Will I watch?...Yes. It's playoff baseball!
