  1. Yes, we sucked this year. But there is NO reason to abandon the entire coaching staff guys... Dickey will right the ship next season. He is that good. If you really need to lynch someone, catch "Raging" Ramon Flannigan on his way out. DO what you want with him. Dickey is a good head coach and has earned the right to fix this thing. I know most of you on this board, and you have always been there for this team. Dont quit on the head coach becuase of one bad year. If OU can back Stoops after a bad year, and Penn St. can back Paterno after several down seasons, we can wait one year to see if Darrell Dickey is still the man who took us to FOUR straight bowl games. I think he is... Show some back bone and stand by a coach that has deliverred for us more than once. That's what I'm doing, and I'm not alone. He has earned it. Just my honest opinion. GMG!!!
  2. I agree completely. I think Flanny being out is a non-issue. If you listened to the DD post-game presser, he made the point clear that there are about to be some MAJOR changes. Ramon flannigan is about to be a card in the NT version of trivial pursuit.. GMG!!!
  3. Honest Congrats to the Ark. State faithful. We remember how it feels to finally get to a bowl game. Some of us are making the trip to LA-LA to support you guys. Make the SBC proud, You earned it on the field today. GMG!!!
  4. No need to say more... I agree completely. Before you guys start going over board on this lousy season, remember who was missing, and who (we hope) will be back. Next season will be a different story. Hang in there with the Ole Ball Coach, and lets get this thing ready for the spring. GMG!!!
  5. Good luck at the scouting combine PC, and thanks for a great career at North Texas!!!! GMG!!!
  6. Thank you. I'm the same, as are many others. Next year tells us whre we really are. In the mantime, Great job this year from Patrick Cobbs, and welcome J-Mo back to the starting lineup!!!!!!!!! GMG!!!
  7. Thanks Harry... I'm sure they are a fine organization. I never really gave them much thought, but they do sit in front of us in Section E. From time to time they make coments in general, but I have never had a reason to speak ill of them. I'm glad we have an organization that helps with recruiting. So, we now know what three out of four groups are doing out there on gameday. Let's recap, shall we? 1- Talons (great organization. Spirit, flags, Bonfire, cheers, etc....) 2- Eagle Angels (work with AD for recruiting...very nice to have them) 3- Cheerleaders (no explanation needed... these guys are very good) 4- WINGS (uh?, ..........................................) GMG!!!
  8. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not again GG, for the love of..... NOT AGAIN!!!!!! Sorry, just jumped out?????
  9. Hehe.. since we are doing the "why's" thing. Why does Plummer post in colors that make my monitor go "BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" I would love to respond to PMG's entry, but that yellow made my pupils close to almost nothing... and now I cant see the letters on my keyboard? I think I can finish by feel... S0 pl8mm3r, I th9ng that we should 66kihoylk and wellrpptt if we can. I know y0u wan5 kkepdp to play qpplienvy. Hope that h3lbs???? GQZ!!!
  10. Dear AD, A high-school football player from Weatherford is being recruited by several Universities. He has been "wined and dined" by several Big-XII schools, and has offers from some lessor known universities. His mother is a friend, and said he wants to make a few more visits before he makes up his mind. I asked what schools he is leaning towards, and she said "Texas, Kansas State, North Texas, and Arkansas State". I told her three out of the four make good sense, but I wasnt sure why Ark. State was a finalist? She said her son wants to feed the world's hungry... and has done nothing but play football and work on a ranch his whole life. He wants to study "Animal Husbandry". Do I burst her bubble and tell her that term means something different to Ark. State people, or do I let him go on that visit... and be tramatized for the rest of his life? I dont want to sway his decision in any direction myself, but this could really screw him up? signed, Hapless, helpless, and hopless in Haltom....
  11. I believe recruiting is at an all time high for this program. Man for Man we have more talent and speed than we ever did. I dont believe that is a result of any efforts by RF? I think Darrell Dickey has made the difference there. ( I know I would want to play for a four-time conference coach of the year, and a program that has just gone to FOUR straight bowl games. Those rings on Johnny Quinn's fingers looked pretty good at the football banquet. The weakness has been signing offensive linemen with pure size? I dont thnk Ramon Flannigan helps us there either? I guess he could tell OL's that he calls "Guard-Elligible" pass plays on 3rd and 25, but if they have attended any games...they will already know better. I'm on record as wanting Darrell Dickey to remain our head coach, and that has not changed. My hope is Flanny goes away before the spring...I dont care how, and we bring in ERIC PEGRAM as the OC, or someone like him who knows multiple offensive passing schemes. The man has NFL skins on the wall and would be a fantastic recruiter!!! He has shown real interest, and I think he could do it. The real question is how to get Flanny to walk away? (The man seems bullet-proof and will not likely be fired) I've got it... Tell him the AAD (Alum Atheletic Director...Emmitt Jackson) will be "assisting" him with the play calling in the spring? I'll be waiting outside with a pre-paid bus ticket to SMU. Can you say "Bub-bye babyyyyyyyyyyy" GMG!!!
  12. Terry Bowden falls a tad short of his father and brother in the "sports authority" category. Terry Bowden is a mediocre commentator. was a mediocre head coach. and tends to change his opinions to match Ryan Fowler's. (Always looks like he is auditioning to get a spot on ESPN College Gameday). I dont know for sure what he does well, but I would trust the sarcasm of GG before I go with facts from Terry Bowden. No offense intended, just an honest opinion. GMG!!!
  13. I'm okay with it, just dont put the thing on our scoreboard fliping everyone the finger... Happy Thanksgiving Mean Green Nation!!!! GMG!!!
  14. There plus two. I think we get rained on, but that's pretty much how this season has gone. Send PC out on a high note if we can. Then, after the game, I want to be there to slap Jamario Thomas on the shoulder pads and welcome him back to the full-time starting tailback job!!! Rain or shine...We're there. GMG!!!
  15. As much as I like Danny Meager, I have to say it. Watching the ball go directly into or over the target instead of having Quinn come back for it says something to the Defense? I dont think we are talking just arm strength here. Phillips is looking like he gets the offense, and can really laser the deep outs. Meager has talent, no question... but I would like Cobbs to go out with a win. The ONLY weakness Ark. State defense has is the secondary, which plays great one game, then collapses the next. (MTSU passed for 3 TD's, ULM 260 yards and 2 TD's, FIU lost big - and still passed for 270 yards and a score, Missouri over 300 and 4 TD's) With Phillips back there, Quinn could have a huge day. We connect on just a couple of deep balls and that safety backs off. HELLO RUNNING GAME. Danny has plenty of time until spring ball to get the shoulder back to 100%. Let's see if Matt Phillips can continue to tear teams up with his passing. We could be onto something very special with this kid at QB. And YES, he is here because Darrell Dickey saw something in him. Let's have him face a defense that really puts pressure on QB's and find out if we are seeing the real thing. I think we are... GMG!!!
  16. Mine is Isaac Thomas, and I applaud him for having a great attitude when he could be down. Medical issues are eventually corrected my friend. Get your rest now Isaac, cause next year you DOMINATE, brother!!!!!!!! From one Thomas to another... GMG!!!
  17. 1400 students, 350 band members, 5000 Alums and Parents, and 20 security people..who are ALL in Section E watching Rick McKinney!!!!! GMG!!!
  18. Bad luck to have La-Mo for homecoming. They are looking for some payback. The GOOD NEWS - This is a game that can be won. Monroe lost to Northwestern State, and to Florida International (who hung 31 on them). However, to win we have to play just about error-free football. (our penalties hurt us more in this game than others). The BAD NEWS - QB play against our defense could be the tale, and we have issues there. Stephen Jyles has been running and throwing the ball like Byron Leftwich. We get no pressure on him, and we get blown out. He hung 227 yards on the MUTS, 384 on FIU, over 200 on FAU, and 260 on Ark State. He also runs with the ball a LOT. Has scored several rushing TD's already this year. I am a reaslist, so I'll be honest here. I'm hoping for a win. However, considerring what the last two teams did to us on the ground, I have to believe Jyles will demolish our Mean Green Defense. (personally, I want Barndon Monroe to knock the show-off into next week) ULM - 34 NT - 14 We will still have a great time tailgating, and I will have enough RUM in me to ease the pain... GMG!!!
  19. Another victim of GG's sarcasm.. GG didnt shred anything, dear. He has been posting these "shock-value" lines for years now. The Alums you know from the tailgaiting and away games will always be there, no matter what the record. By the way, I still owe you a beer for Nickie's FG against LSUsed.. (I'll have Rum and Coke if you want an upgrade for free...) GMG!!!
  20. No.. 99 and 2000 season were worse. We may not win another game this year, but at least we had hope. No such luck with those teams. Great guys, but really bad football. GMG!!!
  21. ULL is the best choice by far. They are a class organization with great fans, and always treat us like family when we go up there and play. (I think I was offerred Beer or hamburgers by just about all of them...really great people) The stadium is nice and will look good on TV. Atttendance would be better as a ULL home game, and this is a good story for the SBC. A nice change from the four year run of the Mean Green in NO. ESPN would run with a story like that, which also helps the public perception of our conference. Good luck Ragin-Cajuns... GMG!!!
  22. Wow? I think we may have a message board original.. In one post, you have managed to insult everyone (fans and Alums) but sucked up to ALL of the coaches? I have fairly think skin, so it doesnt really matter that much, but those are really big bridges to burn. Some of those "Bull$..." fans you refer to are second generation mafia. Peole like Emmit Jackson and Rick McKinney may be the only people left alive who really know where Jimmy Haffa is buried? I'd be careful if I posted a statement like that? You might also remember that many people on this board (myself included) support Darrell Dickey, but the opinions of those who dont are also pretty valid. Either way, sucking up like that on a message board really doesnt get you anything. Now, I see you sucking up to Ramon Flannigan like that in person... Yeah, I'll buy you a beer. I'll be lauging, but I will absolutely pay for your drink. GMG!!!
  23. Kind of a double-edged sword isnt it? Some dont think DD is good enough to coach here at NT, but all of the sudden he is good enough to coach in the Big-XII? Seems to be no way he can win this one? I love a laugh as much as you guys, but there is too much irony here to pass up. Honestly DD would be a good fit for that program, he would just need another Offensive coordinator. (someone more pass oriented) K-State fans can be brutal! I'm hoping Darrell Dickey remains our coach for another two years. K-State can have Ramon Flannigan if they want. No, bad idea. He charges into the stands in Manhattan, nothing would come out but his socks... GMG!!!
  24. Good job Rick!!! We're moving in the right direction with this program. One losing season doesnt set us back the way some people might think. We will be in title hunt next season. As for what people are saying this season. I respond with... "Four consecutive conference titles and bowl games, and NOW we are losers?Right, I think Darrell Dickey may also be responsible for the whole "global warming" thing too... Get a clue" GMG!!!
  25. Freakin THANK YOU!!!! I was beginning to think some people had jumped off the band wagon for one losing season? Support is starting to show again for our FOUR TIME coach of the year, and that is a good thing. I know we are all very opinionated fans and alums, and I'm actually glad we have that. (better than the indifference we had a few years ago) We need to face a little reality here. Yes, this year has sucked...but it happens to every team. Everyone who is upset with Dickey and the play calling is right to feel that way, but lets not get crazy and fire a coach of this caliber for one down year? Let's play this season out and look at the upcoming season for improvements. I honestly think we get back in the Title hunt next season. I also would like a win at homecoming, so I'll be there with most of you...looking for a win. But I will support DD win or lose. My New Orleans trips were all pretty good. (especially Harrah's) I dont remember being with this team at a Bowl Game before DD got here? Success gets him another year to right this ship. Say what you want about OOC wins or lossess, but a conference title is a conference title. Darrell Dickey gave us four in a row... and I havent forgotten. GMG!!! (I know, I'll read the emails when they get here)
