Bowl tickets not a hot item for ASU
medpilot21 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
We'll be there roooting for this year's Sunbelt Champs. Hard to break old habbits... have to go to the New Orleans Bowl, even in Lafayette. The stadium is nice, and Shreveport is between us an there. Makes for a decent road trip... As for the Bowl game, we will be sporting Mean Green colors... but we will be cheering for Ark State. Kick Eagle A$$ in the Bowl, Ark State!!!! Although we are not in this game, it still feels like our bowl week? Obviously I can't predict a Nick Bazaldua game-winning kick this year, and no late nights on Bourbon Street? (just feels like this game should be called the "Mean Green Year Off" Bowl) Ah, to hell with it...GO Ark State GMG!!! -
Reads like one of Plum's post. The 59 playbook thing is kinda cool, but not sure why we should be interested in what UNH is doing? I guess that tie to SMU makes this a story for us, but our recent expereinces with SMU greatness took a turn for the surreal. Maybe UNH could take one more step from SMU history and hire an ex-QB who will hopefully be looking for work soon? GMG!!!

Good write up, Harry. Hopefully good things are on the way... GMG!!!

Sorry for the terrible spelling and grammar in the last post. Only had a few seconds to get it typed, so was really flying on the keyboard. If anyone needs info for this trip, please PM me... GMG...

Important update for those who havent booked rooms yet? Most of the ULL are is now sold out. A travel agent got outs done today, but Jeesh??? Also, Ticketmasters does have the tickets, but you have to get them to really dig for them. (at first, no one could find them...not even the ULL ticket office?) all done... now just have to decide how much MeanGreen is okay to wear before the Ark. State fans get upset.......hehe GMG!!!

2006 Draft Report from Great Blue North
medpilot21 replied to LongJim's topic in Mean Green Football
HAHAHAHA......I wonderred when that was coming. Now when Geroge Marshall's name comes up, the laughing stops. GMG!!! (Honestly Zuni would make a great OL coach I think. I'm sure that is what you meant...it just sounded like another shot at Dickey) -
I have a travel agent here at Crescent who booked the two rooms I reserved. She didnt give me the details on which hotel yet... I get that this afternoon when I meet with her. I'm buying tickets today, I just wasnt sure how many I would need. (So far my group is three). Should be a good time... Med

Yep, we're on it. Leaving with Pierow's caravan Monday morning. So far my car has myself, Emmitt, Marshall, and I possibly Steve (Zeke, need to check on his class schedule) Otherwise, we will have an extra spot. Checking on rooms at the Comfort near campus... More to follow..... GMG!!!

Figures.... I had ONE fantasy player left for this week and a TD wins it. Joe Jurevicius only needed to get 4 stinkin points and I win? (the guy has been on fire this season) He gets thrown to ONCE in the end-zone and is called out-of-bounds. (in fairness here...he was out) Engram gets the receiving TD two plays later, and then the Seahawk Defense starts picking off passes like everyone is Deon Sanders. (intercepted..Touchdown, intercepted again...touchdown) Joe J. and the other Seahawk starters get pulled out of the game after halftime. So much for my four points??? Another reason to dislike Philly. They must have known how close I was and tanked on purpose!!! GMG!!! (this rant stuff really does relieve the stress. Now I just need to figure out how to get the last bit of Rum into my coffee without being seen???)

Wow???? I thought this was a GreenGrenade Post? Nice shock value. I agree we need a U-turn in a hurry. We will see in the spring if we can put some of the pieces together. Phillips as a possible full-time starter at QB, J-Mo as the full time runningback, and Adjani Banks improves that OL big time. Still some questions on the DL, but Isaac Thomas helps us there. I feel good about next year. We get a better look at most of the red-shrits in spring ball. GMG!!!

Byerly should be a TE. 6-5/ 250 is a great size for blocking and receiving,a nd he is fast enough. The issue is "can he catch?".. Well he may not have too much. I honestly believe we move Brock Stickler to TE soon... and that guy can catch the ball as well as Blount did... maybe better. SO, Byerly gets an occasional catch, and gets to light up linebackers... Not a bad way to keep a scholarship if he can just make freakin "C"'s in his classes. Shoot for the 2.0 JB, just a freakin 2.0 and you play... GMG!!!

C-USA...no question. The stadium would be nice, but better to be in a more prominant conference. (would be nice to have a new Offensive Coodinator too, but the dreaming has to stop somewhere, right?) GMG!!!

Is the AR painted Green yet? We used the M-16's in basic training (same basic weapon), and they were awsome at long range. Small rounds, but very effective. November was a bad month for Cops... people out there are crazy lately??? You do whatever you have to to protect yourself. Bro. GMG!!!

"How many high school prospects want to play football in front of a small crowd, when they could go down the road to SMU or TCU and at least play in a conference with more than one bowl bid. A majority of the 30,000 plus students at NT would rather reap the benefits of attending a Division 1-A university that is close to their DFW homes than support the football team and attend games. "..NT Daily He cant be serious? How can he mention bowl bids and SMU in the same sentence? Just how many Bowls has SMU been to (over the last decade?) that would sway a recruit there instead of Denton? I dont know where our "Modern Mark Twain" gets his info, but SMU games this year havent exactly been standing room only?. There MAY have been 20k at the Baylor game (some of us attended at Ford) which was a good crowd for SMU, but not exactly a sell-out? I find it ironic that the largest improvement in attendance at NT this year has been the students, and that is the flaw this writer emphasizes in the article? I admire his faithful, though misguided.."Defend-Dickey" attitude, but lets be realists. Dickey still has to take ownership of the debaucle this season. That does not mean fire him, but he is responsible. If you're going to play the "blame" game, call the cards as they fall. Attendance and support were Kings, Dickey was a 7 of clubs, and Flannigan folded about three hands before Tulsa... GMG!!!

See Emmitt's post from Yesterday. I think that covers it pretty well... GMG!!!

Cobbs versus Utah State 2003. The run where he jukes the safety so bad at midfield that the poor boy drops right to the turf like a sack of potatoes. How do you explain THAT to your secondary coach on the sideline? I laughed big-time on that one. Cobbs will sure be missed... GMG!!!

Great times Joey... Too bad we miss this year. Utopia turned out to be the hot-spot for everyone last year. You showed me some pics you hd just taken that night. and there seems to be a couple missing here??? HEHE.... Great shots and memories!!! GMG!!!

Well put Emmitt. If you run for President, you have my vote. I think the premise has always been to expect more, but confusion seems to be more prominant than reason. The perception of this university has changed some over the last few years. Winning does that for you, even in the Sunbelt. As far as expecting more from our leaders, of course. There is still a contingent of Alums who believe as you do, and want to be more than a hurdle on OU's way to the National Championship. The question is how to get to that level, and what will the fans and alums consider acceptible baby steps? (this cannot be done overnight). My version of progress was to improve facilities as finances allowed, and to go to a bowl game for the recognition and exposure. If five years ago you would have said Darrell Dickey would take North Texas to four straight Conference Championships (in ANY conference in Division-1A), and we would have a CHANCE to get to a bowl game..I would have called 911 and put a stick in your mouth to keep you from swallowing your tongue. The fact is we are not as bad off as some think. Losing doesnt help us, but this is not damaging to the point we dont recover. We are becoming better, more traditonal fans, and expect to win every year now. That is the right direction for the fans to go here... so the first issue is "can Darrell Dickey take us where we want to go?"... well, he has four conference crowns and coach of the year awards. Why doubt him after one losing season? Because we expect more now? Okay, if we trust him, as I still do, then we wait to see if next season gets us back the SBC title and a bowl. Then the question is, if that is not enough for some...and apparently it is not, who do you bring in to do more than that? If that guy can do no more than win the Sunbelt and wins one out of four OOC games, is he a failure? If he has a losing season after a SBC championship year, do we lose faith in him too? I do understand the arguments that have wall-papered the board for some time now, but where do our allegiances lie? One post said it as clear as can be said... we are divided right now as alums and fans. There is never a good time to have your winning expectations dashed, but I choose to trust in a head coach and AD that have shown me how important winning is to them. Losing to Tulsa in a blowout does not mean DD does not want to win. We all know that. I have no explaination for this season, as most of us do not. I can just say that I know how everyone feels. Good post , Emm.. you see things more cleary than a lot of us on this board right now. (but be careful what you say to the Green-Guys. If you ever run for Congress, that stuff will come back to haunt you.......hehe) GMG!!!

Dont know who that was, but be careful yelling at TJ Covington. I love the guy... he even did a high-step for me going into the end zone during the spring. However, I was vocal about his biting on a play-action fake inside the 15 yard line. Apparently, his mom doesnt think much of those who criticize her boy during the game? I found out quick that "that wasnt his man"...and "Who are you?...shut up or you get out there if you can do better!" can be screamed pretty loud? Part funny, and part WOW???? I think this season has been a strain on all of us. Here's hoping the spring brings us hope for a better next year. If not, I'm having an epideral and injecting the rum directly into my spnial column. (in all my years attending these games, I've never had a parent flip me off?) GMG!!!

I have put that very scene on this board many times. Nick will really be missed by all of us every saturday, but his family will continue to be a part of the traditions we now have here. I talked to his mom again Saturday, and predicted either the Saints or the Lions would be the first to snatch him up. Of course I would sure like to see him in Dallas, but Nickie will get invitations to several NFL training camps. I truly think we see him on Sunday next season. No matter who he plays for next year, there is one reality for this year... If Nick kicked in Dallas this season, the Cowboys are 9-2 right now!!! GMG!!!

We're there... I think 4 or 5 of us in this group. Should be a great time. GMG!!!

Okay, this guy is a mess as an OC, I'll give you that. But let's not be too hard on him? So he has a bad temper, and sees ten men in the box and thinks RUN....who doesnt? Maybe we just need to re-assess his strengths and put him where he can do the most good? I admit I have lost faith in him as much as everyone else for calling plays, but anything can be salvaged. After watching him fly through three rows of fans in less than a second to get to Bill, I realized RF can fight off a block and get to his man! Yeah, he was a QB, but talent is talent. This guy should be working with the linebackers. Sure, we have skill and speed already at LB, but we dont have the Flanny-level intensity. I think we may have stumbled onto something? The term "out-coached" could be shouted from the sideline as a signal for an all-out blitz. Without realizing it, Bill may have created a defensive genius!!!!!

HAHAHAHA....now THAT's funny!!!!!

I love that movie... Flannigan would be perfect for it. I would cast him as the manager.... "Yeah, Milton we're going to, uh, need you to run a draw on 2nd and 25...yeah. and uh, and I think I'll need you to run another draw on 3rd down too...okay?, great..." Could be an awsome sequel!!! GMG!!!
