The shirts fall into Ashley's area, so if she can work something out to get them donated...all the better. Mellissa Dolan has been the go-between for us for the last couple of years, and did a great job. I would love for them to be able to get the shirts donated, and will see what they can do. There are still some kinks to work out for this game, but overall we are ahead. The comittee will meet this week to iron out some details and finalize a few things. I will run Stebo's request for Green team captain by them, but I dont see a problem there. Emmitt will be the one who selects the captains for both teams, but that will be done after the BIO's are in. I will post all of that in the "rules and registration" post on Wednesday. As I mentioned, the $15.00 is a ball-park price. We may be able to do better, but we dont know yet. As for the letters issue, I'll check with Mellissa. Welcome to another year of Flag football, benefitting the Andrew Smith Scholarship Fund. Spring football is nearly here, and that means it's time to start getting this thing together. Your Bowl Comittee for this year is Myself (Steve Thomas), Emmitt Jackson, and Ashley Williams. Your game referrees are Cody Strange, and a ref to be named later... Schedule will play a part in that. I have already started the ball rolling, and am working with the Ath. Dept. as we speak. Keith is checking the calendar for events now, but it looks like we have Fouts Field for the game this year. Mary is going to check with Coach Dickey for "Celebrity" coaches. (that's current Mean Green players) I will put the TENATIVE dates and times in an overview at the bottom of this post. Please understand that we try to accomodate as many of our schedules as possible. Any issues that you have with these dates can be addressed by PM to me. I would also ask that we remember this game, as much fun as we always have, is for a very worthy cause. With that said... Important Dates: Registration: Anyone who wishes to play must respond to the thread that will be posted on Wednesday, Feb. 8th. This thread will remain active through Sunday, Feb. 26th. That will give me time for the Draft rosters. Each response should contain basic info on you, and a quick Bio. (I know most of you, but not all. Remember, no Bio from you, and I make one up for you. The risk is all yours.....hehe) Draft: TENATIVE date is Thursday March 2nd. Captains will be selected from the completed rosters. The draft will be live again this year, and the rules basically the same. Women will be drafted first, then men. This is a talent-available draft, so best player on the board is taken with each pick. We are all football studs, so everyone will be selected. Game: The tenative date for the game is Saturday, April 15th. We also have the 22nd as a fall-back, but the 15th is looking good so far. All flag rules apply as they have the past two years. The rules will be posted again in a later topic, but we are all familiar with them by now. Most of us have been on the new Fouts Field turf, but for those who have not... those little black rubber shreds tend to get into everything, but it is a great surface to play on. Shirts: I am looking at bringing the shirt cost in at around $15.00 I will check with the genius that always does this for us (yes Mel, that's you) to see if we can manage that. Shirt money will need to be paid no later than Sunday, March 19th. More details coming for that, so please dont send anything to anyone yet. Additional info: We will have a $5.00 player fee as usual, plus two fund raisers. One will be an auction for an autographed, framed Tony Dorsett Dallas Cowboys photo. (8 x 10) The other will be announced before the draft. All monies collected will go directly to the Scholarship fund. I like this move. I think we play our cards right and the next three or four years could be great for NT Defense.. Now tha I feel better about the DL, QB will be my question for the Spring. GMG!!!

Funny stuff... I like the moves to improve the offense. Having J-Mo back in the saddle full-time will not hurt us? I have to admit this is also a strange mix for the defensive unit? Isaac Thomas, Gilmore, and Ransom should be impact players on the DL, Dominique Green and Devin Cox are speedy at corner, Agbottah at FS, etc... We have the people here to improve immediatley, but no Kennedy's, Spencer's, or Buckles to point at. The questions are how far can second years take us, and how healthy can they remain during this season? Pass rush is a concern, no doubt. But spring ball will give us a good look at where we are with these guys. I will feel better about where we stand after Spring Football, but the signs are good. Might be a good time to open up some questions to the AAD. (Alum Athletic Director) GMG!!!

Hey GG, I thought you were on "self-imposed" exile until we had a head coaching change? Well, guess what... no change in head coach. So you came back early, I know Coach Dickey will be glad you have changed your mind and come back to support him. You have no idea how much we have all missed you. By the way, I have one remaining hat signed by Coach Dickey last year at the GMG Bowl. The hats didnt last long, but as you have become a Darrell Dickey guy, I will allow you to have the last one. This is probably the most productive thread in some time. I like the ideas of getting students more involved on gameday. I was thinking of something like the 12th man gig A&M does on gameday. Have a drawing and let one Frat-student a game dress out and be on the sidelines. (you know the other frat brothers and sisters would be there to support him) Give him a "00" number jersey and let that be a tradition. I dont know about playing them on coverage teams, but there may be a place to play them on extra point tries? Obviously we may have to modify it some so it doesnt seem so much like we stole the idea, but I really like it. Just a thought to get the students to be more of a part??? Good thread...GMG!!!

That would be more funny if it wasnt so true. I have to hope Darrell Dickey is a better judge of what this program needs at QB this season. I would have to change my mid-game chant from "Throw the ball, Dickey" to "WE WANT A WOODY!!!!" I know, it just sounds bad. But if this kid is as good as Rivals says...that has already been shouted from the stands somewhere before. Count me in for that cheer!!! GMG!!!

We were there, and it was a very good game. Emmitt and Zeke more or less took the stands over, and the fans loved it. Pierow and Chris (Double-Eagle) were also there. The Ark. State fans were very appreciative of us being there. Competitive game until the fourth quarter, (turn-overs kill) and the fans were awsome. We were also told Rick Villareal was there somewhere, but we never saw him. The Ark. State fans and a few Rajun Cajun Fans were there having a great time. A little cold, but a good venue for a bowl game. I'd forgotten how nice that stadium is. One of the Cajun fans said Fouts Field would be okay if we could just get the fans into the same zip code as the players. Pretty funny....also very true. This was a good road trip. It would have been nice to see a few more Mean Green'ers there. GMG!!!

I am a Darrell Dickey guy, and will continue to be... but if Ramon Flannigan somehow escapes the guilotine after his behavior this season and that fabulous playcalling, I will begin to wonder if he is made of Kryptonite? Some things you just cannot have? I dont wish ill-will towards RF, I just dont want him here. Rick Villareal will have a hard sell with some of us if he plans on keeping RF here. I really dont want to be one of those "done for me lately?" kind of fans, but there are real issues with Flanny and the fans now. I trust RV as much today as ever, but this one will be a tough pill to swallow. Here's hoping common sense prevails... GMG!!!

Some people really dont get it. The game is in a Sunblet stadium for a change, and not a bad one at that. It really doesnt matter that much who the SBC rep plays, but the most important thing is the ULL fans have one more football game to watch? If this game was played at Fouts..(besides the fact that I would ecstatic for one more home game this year), I would back whoever represented the SBC? Why would the ULL fans be otherwise? Bitter about your team missing the game is one thing, but it's still a bowl game in your back yard. Support your freakin conference Cajuns... They can do what they want, but I'm going to OUR Bowl game. GMG!!!
