  1. Am I the only one that finds this bowl match-up more than a bit stunning (yet still quite entertaining just reading it)? My how the mighty have fallen!!
  2. I guess we'll find out in a little over a month, won't we?
  3. No, I think you had it right the first time......
  4. I was awarded a couple of Hymen awards back in my youth, but the Heiman..........
  5. That's your opinion, and you are certainly entitled to it. However, others would argue that Michigan's strength of schedule consists of playing Ohio State (loss), Wisconsin (who played NOBODY this year), Notre Dame (who is overrated, as usual), and that's about it. Florida played the toughest schedule in the NCAA, including 4 in the latest top 20 and (correct me if I am wrong) 7 teams going bowling. Besides, should you be able to play for the MNC (Mythical National Championship) in this day and age if you didn't even win your conference? Finally, fair or not, the system has always favored teams that finish strong versus those that lose late in the season. Michigan's a great team, but they have no better arguement for being in the MNCG than Florida, just a different arguement.
  6. When it comes to bush league crap like this, I couldn't disagree more.
  7. First and foremost, WOOOOHOOOO!!!!! Now, on a more objective note, I think Florida can, repeat CAN, win this game, if we can get healthy on the D-line and in the secondary, and Urban can figure out what offense he wants to run and what quarterback he should use to run it. It will take Florida's game of the year, but that is very doable since I don't think they have play up to their potential all year. P. S. WOOOOHOOOO!!!!
  8. That explains EVERYTHING!!!
  9. There are lots of injuries that appear serious enough on the field to warrant full precautions (neck collar and/or helmet taped to the backboard, facemask cut off, etc.) that turn out to be nothing serious. The trainers and doctors on the field don't have x-ray vision. Same reason why the vast majority of trauma victims (car accidents, etc.) are transported in the same manner. Better safe than sorry until you can get to the hospital and run whatever tests are necessary to confirm or rule out any potentially catastrophic injuries.
  10. I hate to break up the grammar debate, but back to the original topic....... The best known cowbell school these days would be Mississippi State. My other addition to the annoying game sound effect list would be the cock crowing at South Carolina games. Listen for it Saturday night when they play Arkansas if it is televised in Texas. P.S. You got a problem with cowbells?
  11. Hey now, back of my boys on the sports medicine staff. I'd bet my mortgage payment that a second opinion was obtained. There's only so much you can do on the sidelines. Given his history, it was the right call to err on the side of caution.
  12. Most underrated post of the day. Mad props GJ!
  13. Geez guys (and gals, if any have contributed), just let it go!! Systems like this are the big buzz in sports health right now, and many teams are testing several different systems. If all the experiments show positive results, you can plan on seeing something similar on the NT sidelines in the near future. Other items like the 'misting' or 'fogging' fans have been around a while and are an accepted piece of equipment. Once it reaches that point, the home team doesn't have to provide for the visitors because the visitors bring their own! If these experiments lead to readily accepted technology that reduces the number of heat related deaths in football every year, wouldn't that be a good thing? To quote Stripes: "Lighten up, Frances!!"
  14. No more callers, we have a winner for post of the day!
  15. Now now, fellas, don't let those Lone Star tinted glasses get to you too much. With ties to both states, I can say they are both unbelievable hotbeds of talent. I, personally, would like to see a game like this with Texas vs. Florida. THAT would be fun!
  16. Good Ken, if you can't tell the difference after one glance between the burnt orange of Texas and the reflective hunter's jacket/highway maintenance worker orange of Tennessee, you might want to check into prescription eyewear! Anyway, back to the original topic........ Florida, of course!!
  17. Damn, has this thread been officially hijacked or what!?!
  18. If it was his non-throwing shoulder, that would have been his right shoulder. Scott was a southpaw. Not to be picky or anything..... In that SMWHO game, were most of those bad passes in the second half? Maybe his knuckles were sore after the halftime brawl!
  19. I pretty much agree with his top 5, but would have liked to have seen Oklahoma and Alabama make the list. Not having a pro team was a killer.
  20. The quotes listed by Rick are just a few of the many reasons UM is beloved by the Gator faithful. And NT could definitely use a better connection with the student body!!
  21. *perk* That's ironic, the swim team was my primary responsibility when I was in grad school there. We would know each other well if she was about 13 years older or I was 13 years younger! Go Rams!! Go Eagle.... errr, Go Mean Green!! Go Gators!!
  22. Mineral Wells HS, class of 1987 Our school song was sung to the tune of 'O Christmas Tree' Famous alums? Not many...... Alvin Garrett, former wide receiver and 'Smurf' for the Washington Redskins.... and, of course ..... FFR's wife!!
  23. Great topic, BTW...... Season opener, 1987, OU in Norman. On the sidelines as a student trainer. Amazing introduction to college football. Switzer, Jamelle Holloway, Keith Jackson...... wow. We blocked an extra point and returned it for a 2 point conversion in (I believe) the first year of that new rule, we may have been the first in the country. Lost 69-14. Wrote a paper about the experience in my freshman grammar & composition class and got an A. I wish I still had the paper!
  24. Ahhh, this NT tradition dates back to long before the DD era. I can almost hear Corky Nelson's crackly voice screaming "RUN THE DRAW!!!"
  25. I am all for having TMFD on staff, but don't start him out any higher than RB coach. Strength, recruiting, all is OK, but I wouldn't vault someone straight into an OC position just because they played in the League.
