  1. Derek struggled at times for sure. But, the passing game success is based on the offense working as a team. I thought coming into the season that WR was our weakest spot on the team. I still feel that way. Next year's WR crop should be an upgrade, which will help either Bergland or DT.
  2. While I would never want us to take a step back again, I have to admit to really enjoying the FCS playoff system more than the bowls (even though NT was winless in the 1AA playoffs at the time). At least they crown a real champion and not a paper one. I hate what has happened to college football (greed). And, the outlook is not getting any better.
  3. Thank you for posting. Those are my feelings exactly. Benford's system may take a while to gel. But, it is a long season. Creighton was 18-2 at home last year. Virginia was 16-5 at home. Of UV's 5 losses at home, their largest defeat was 3 points playing a tough ACC schedule. The Alabama-Huntsville loss is the one really big black mark IMO. The first half yesterday was a debacle for the Mean Green. But, they didn't quit and made it interesting for a bit. Mark it down. NT will still win at least 20 games this season. We are not going to have the dream season that some expected. But, it should be a good one nonetheless.
  4. Very fitting location for him and his dad. Craig James can give Deion some pointers about how to get your son some extra treatment.
  5. 25 regular season games left. I bet this team wins at least 18 of them to finish with at least 21 wins. Plus, the SBC seems a little weaker this year IMO. Benford is going to end up being a really good coach for us. This is a disappointing start for sure. But, expectations were probably a little high around here anyway A 21-10 record is more than reachable for this team. They will pick it up, especially at home. UTA has been our nemesis. We need to step it up a notch next wednesday.
  6. To sum it up. Our record would be better if our return game improved and we starting punching it in more when in the red zone. That is what I take from the rankings. Also, we are doing a terrific job of pass protection and/or Thompson is good at getting rid of the ball under pressure.
  7. My favorite overall: Kolache Haven Best On List: Kettle Corn
  8. I read their thread after the game last night. Most of the Cajun fans were pretty complimentary of our team and staff. A few of them said we caught all the breaks. However, how many times did Broadway try and throw the ball while taking a hit ? There were probably 4 or 5 lame ducks that were up for grabs. He was lucky they weren't picked off. The ULL staff had better work on this with Broadway. He is a decent QB but takes way too many chances with the ball. I was not very impressed with him, except for his legs and arm strength.
  9. From the looks of the earlier threads, a lot of apologies should be coming.
  10. It is just unbelievable how far this BB program has come in the last 5 or 6 years. Instead of hoping for top notch talent, you almost come to expect it these days. While our FB program seems on the right track, it is taking baby steps compared to BB.
  11. TD brought energy to the program. He reached out to the fans (but not as much as Mac) and increased attendance and excitement. Unfortunately, TD was apparently underqualified for the position. Unfortunately for high school FB coaches throughout the USA, colleges will look at the TD experiment and be too afraid to take the risk in the future. The TD era was maddening. His teams had no discipline at all. However, the man gave it his best and I appreciate his effort. Most of us here (not everyone I know) were excited by the hire. We all learned a lesson. The TD era led us to Coach Mac. If not for that, we may be on a different path with less potential. Things happen for a reason.
  12. My feelings exactly. Although, I still worry about Houston turning things around in the next couple weeks. They have the talent on paper and are underachieving right now IMO. The Sun Belt is a completely different animal than it was 10 years ago.
  13. Why is this video not running on ESPN's Sportscenter 24 hours a day ? It certainly deserves its own cable channel. Thank you Winters for this ray of shining light today. Please tell your team to go easy on us. We give up. Just help us take away the pain that is sure to come. It is the least you can do.
  14. After last night, I am dropping my prediction down from 6-6 to 5-7. Our offense against TSU was frustrating, despite the yardage. DT was off....way off. The receivers failed to generate much separation, except when the DB's fell down. And, despite the OL opening up the occassional big hole, they didn't seem to generate much push against what should have been a weak TSU front four. I thought our backs were pretty good, except for the fumbles. I don't know if we have a RB that can take it to the house right now. I saw some pretty shifty moves from our backs. But, there was not a lot of burst when a hole opened up. I admit, I am pretty spoiled from seeing Lance the previous 4 seasons (preceded by Jamario, Cobbs). Thank God the defense was solid (and sometimes dominant), or this game would have probably turned out much different. I would have been OK with our offenses performance against ULL, ULM, ASU or anyone else in the Sun Belt (except for MTSU, FAU, USA). But, this was TSU. If we had played up to par on offense, our starters would have been on the bench in the 3rd quarter. TSU has to feel pretty good about their 2nd half performance. They outplayed us for most of the 2nd half. We should not lose to USA, MTSU and FAU. So, that is 4 wins. I think we pick up an extra win against either Troy or WKU. Houston is probably bettter than they looked against Texas State and a win at their house will be very tough. ULM looks a LOT better than I expected obviously. I feel that ASU and ULL are probably out of reach at this point (but not impossible). Kansas State looks awefully good and will be another top 20 team this week. After being the big fish last weekend, we are back to being the little fish this weekend against K State
  15. He might clear waivers. I have seen several teams in the same boat (too many RB's that they really like).
  16. After reading the LSU fan boards, I now know how TSU fans must feel reading our boards
  17. The injuries were pretty tough on Lance. Whenever you listen to the Cowboys beat reporters, Lance was never even in consideration for the top 3 (they won't keep more than 3 RB). Tanner is pretty highly thought of. Felix Jones isn't gettting cut this year. Murray is a stud. However, after tonight I can see Lance added to the practice squad (or get picked up by another team). There would be no shame in that. Next year, he can push either Jones or Tanner out of a spot. Go Lance ! Congrats on your first NFL TD.
  18. Bad weather....the great talent equalizer.. I would want to postpone the game also if I was LSU
  19. I know. I don't buy it. I dislike SMU as much as anyone here. But, they have been outrecruiting us on all fronts since June Jones took over. I think the Sunbelt is usually underrated. But, some of those rankings are just way too high.
  20. Wow. Some high ranking Belt schools in that poll. FIU at #38. ASU at #51. ULM at #75 (gulp)
  21. Fact. Our baseball team has never been close to being on academic probation Great site ! Thanks.
  22. I remember Dan Marino in college. I always thought he had a strange throwing motion, which appeared very short (kind of like this kid) and quick. Because of his quick and short release, Marino seemed almost impossible to sack or knock the ball out of his hands. I am certainly not saying this kid is going to be Dan Marino. But, give me a tall QB who can get the ball out quickly any day. Congrats coach Mac. Wecome kid !
  23. When JJ took the LSU job, I immediately thought "here we go again". I certainly expected us to lost TM, CJ and a few others. Its difficult to not think that way given our overall program history. However, not only has Benford come and kept things from falling apart, he is adding more "potential" top notch talent to the program. I am even more excited about our potential in the next few years than I was 6 months ago. I know it is early. But, Benford has really impressed all the way around. Of the 3 programs in the area that just changed coaching staffs, I can't help but feel that we have the best. Thanks already for all the hard work you put in Coach Benford.
  24. It is hard to dispute the selection of WKU as the top Sun Belt school. They have been the top dog and it is not even close. WKU has a history of success (even in the NCAA tourney) and are consistently at or near the top of their league. I don't know what the future holds for WKU football. But, their basketball program would have been a huge bonus for CUSA. With that being said, I am so proud of our basketball program. NT is definately on the rise and I see a lot of potential for extended success. While it is great to see CUSA discussed along with the top conferences, I hope this trend continues. The loss of Memphis in basketball really drops the conference prestige. Somebody is going to have to step it up. I would think the most likely choices are Southern Miss, Tulsa, Marshall or NT. I expect Benford's team to make a lot of noise in CUSA in 2013.
  25. Thanks everyone ! That is exactly the info I was looking for.
