  1. I have been thinking about this all day. If bad weather keeps fans away, what would an ice storm do ? I am kind of relieved we are not hosting this weekend. But, I do wish we were playing in the championship game.
  2. Do you guys think that the players would rather play locally, in the HOD bowl, in front of a lot of their fans ? Or, do you think they would rather travel to Hawaii ? As a fan, I am crossing my fingers for the HOD bowl. But, I can understand why the players would want to go to Hawaii as a reward for the special season they have had, even if the stands are mostly empty.
  3. The local weathermen are doing their best right now to scare people away from any outdoor functions this weekend
  4. WOW ! This is great news.
  5. Both teams seem to be getting stronger as the year goes on. Not to criticize Derek, but I think Souza may be their only advantage (albeit an important one). If Souza gets rattled, they are finished and the rout is on. Our entire D has a real attitude and confidence right now that doesn't show on paper. They will ratchet up the hitting on saturday. Our OL and DL is much better IMO. I can only see losing this game at home if we lose the turnover battle. I hope Mac drives this point home with the players.
  6. I have really grown to like the green helmet with the black SOW. Wish we could stick with it at for at least the rest of the season
  7. When I see SMU's actual attendance (not the stated attendance), I wonder why their recruiting does not suffer more. I guess the value of an SMU education (perception), better conference (maybe) and better coaching pedigrees ($$$) still allow them to land a few higher quality players. Our attendance is of course nothing to brag about. But, I don't ever remember ever seeing Apogee/Fouts that empty on a good weather day in recent history. It will be interesting to see how the local recruiting battle between SMU and NT pans out in the next few years.
  8. This is my feeling on the subject. Mac coaches here another 3-5 years and then retires. Chico is the head coach in waiting, provided that he does not get offered an ideal position sooner.
  9. The players are doing a great job of execution. They are a tight knit unit. But, it is pretty obvious to me that someone is making some terrific halftime adjustments. John Skladany for MVP ? I hate to single out anyone after such a great team win. But, there is a pattern here and that pattern starts with the DC IMHO. Congrats guys.
  10. Our backs are doing an adequate job. But, can you imagine this team if we still had a Dunbar, Cobbs, Galbreath or J Thomas (at his peak) type of back ?
  11. I predicted 5-7. This team is better than expected. I would now say 7-5, but hoping for better.
  12. 99Beers was so over the top that I found it funny and not insulting. I have a feeling that is part of his normal routine. Instead of just using profanity, he could have researched our history and found some things that would really hurt
  13. Shocked at how many quality teams are in the MAC this year.
  14. The key to a great Kolache is to get them when they are fresh out of the oven. If you stop by mid-day or later, they are most likely not so fresh. Both the Czech Stop and Kolache Haven have good Kolaches IMO. I am 100% Czech ancestry. And, I would drive miles for a dozen good fresh Kolaches just like grandma used to make them
  15. Tulane is 45 ? Damn. What an opportunity we had there. I am convinced this team would beat Tulane on most days.
  16. I have run into this several times. Lifelong fans of college sports understand the no beer ban. But, the general sports public does not. And, it is definitely a deal breaker for many that would consider attending a game to see what it is about.
  17. I think we make a respectable showing, unlike recent history money games. Too much talent for our D to hang with though. Still, I expect a good effort from all our guys. 38-20 Dogs
  18. I was there. That was the day I started believing in biased SWC officials. We immediately got in the car and drove home from Austin in stunned silence. I did not expect a win. But, it was the worst way to lose. There have been so many disappointments and gut-wrenching NT losses since then. So, the 88' UT game is now just another difficult loss to add to the list. But, things are looking up ? Right ?
  19. My wife, like many other women, do not seem to understand the sports-crazed world that most men live in. When they try and cross over into a male-domininated forum to have a legitimate conversation, it seems like every thread seems to take a turn for the worst. It would be nice, just once, to see a woman be able to enter a forum without being the center of attention immediately, just because they possess the "other" thing that men desire (in addition to sports). I know that some women may like the extra attention. But, it would be nice if they could be given some extra space first to make an impression, before things take a turn away from the sports topic in question. If they were given some space initially, maybe there would be more women in these forums. Just a thought. I don't want to be a downer and I realize that this type of thing occurs on every sports message board. Yet, it would be nice to see things change a bit. A lot of the witticisms, gentle badgering and other clever banter make this forum an interesting place to visit on a daily basis. But, what if new posters, especially women, where given a little space to breath before their sexuality is thrown in their face ? I personally know that some women with sports opinions avoid forums like this for the exact reasons that I mentioned. Just a thought. I will probably take a hit for ruining the spirit of this thread. But, I felt a need to say this for all the sports-loving ladies like my wife, I wouldn't say this on most public forums. But, I feel that this forum is a more closely-knit community that most. Thanks.
  20. It happened to us just a few years ago I think. In fact, a couple of the Dodge's seasons were just crazy impacted by injuries (especially the one year at QB).
  21. Be careful what you think about Southern Miss. They completely dominated Tx State yesterday and just shot themselves in the foot with turnovers (6 of them I think). USM was clearly the better team yesterday. USM has had probably the best recruiting in CUSA the last few years. The have a ton of talent. They simply gave up last year playing for a lame duck coach. We will be playing USM in Hattiesburg. It will NOT be easy unless the USM team melts down under a new coach, as they did last season. I do not expect that.
  22. Since FroggyStyle was kind enough to post the link, I should point out that not all on killerfrogs agree with FroggyStyle's trolling. "The mods deleted his post because everyone on GOMEANGREEN is tired of him trolling. All He does is go on there and talk smack. He is the Rodog of the GOMEANGREEN board. It is sad really. I am all for trolls being deleted. " I have a ton of respect for TCU football. If I were FroggyStyle's peers on that board, I would not support his trolling at all . He is an embarrassment to their fine program and what is normally a group of classy fans. At least a few of them were not impressed with his actions here. Every school has a few of them. When I see one of ours trolling other boards, I get embarrassed for my school.
  23. Remember when so many were complaining, because they thought Todd Dodge burned Derek's redshirt unnecessarily by playing him in an insignificant game back in 2009 ? DT went 3 of 3 for 60 yards and a TD. He was going to be our QB of the future. Funny how things change. If Dodge had not burned Thompson's redshirt, he would be around for another year after this
  24. If I were Rick V and a few others, this type of comment would have me seething and feeling very unappreciated. I can't remember another time when NT put so many $$ into their athletic programs (fan since 86).. We are still WAY behind most D1 football programs when it comes to spending $$ on athletics. But, we are making progress at a rapid rate. I do believe that we could do a much, much better job when it comes to promoting athletics. in that regard, I tend to agree with you. But, somebody is really interested in seeing NT succeed or we wouldn't have that new stadium, mean green village, practice court, etc.
