  1. I was just going to say this. When Greer sets his feet, he has a pretty strong arm.
  2. 1) I am sure that Mac has made friends in Denton. Going to Dallas would be a knife in the back. 2) Coach Mac thinks OUR attendance is subpar. While our alumni support (attendance) is about equal to SMU, we have far more students. Don't see it happening.
  3. Yep. They look like they came from.......West Virginia.
  4. We have to get SMU to play us finally. Oh wait
  5. Greers performance after 2 games: Vision. Goes through his progressions - NOT AT ALL Accuracy - OK this game. Horrible last game. Arm Strength - He does have some zip on the ball (when he has time to set). Leadership - TBD. He didn't look lost out there today. #1 could be a real problem for him. It seems like QB's are gifted with this ability or they don't have it. I don't know if I have ever seen a QB "learn" to do this well. I do give Josh credit for managing the game and not turning the ball over today.
  6. I would be feeling really good about the SMU game if our QB's combined QB rating was not 0.0. But, the good news is there is no possible way to get any worse
  7. We are still in this game. But, Greer is going to have to settle down REAL quick. Nice job by our defense so far.
  8. It must be the uniforms These baby's are sweet ! http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2014/08/28/navy-unveils-summer-whites-under-armour-uniforms-for-ohio-state-game/
  9. What is up with those UL Monroe uni's ? Yuk.
  10. "Texas 26 (2 missed extra points) The Fighting Kathy Irelands 0" This one made me chuckle. Well played.
  11. The battle of bad helmets. At least we know which 2 teams were playing
  12. This may work for most of our games. But, to have any success in the opener against Texas we are going to have to light them up through the air. Even when we have had good/great running teams in the past, Texas has been able to stuff us at the line. The one time when we actually played Texas tough, I believe that Scott Davis had over 400 yards of passing. Smaller teams rarely can run the ball effectively against the top schools. You have to be able to throw the ball to have any success. Outside of the Texas game, I do believe that Coach Macs comments are correct. But, if we try and stuff it down Texas's throat, it is going to be a long day So, that is the dilemma against Texas. We can run the ball a lot and keep the score to a 21 to 28 point loss. Or, we can air it out and have a chance to win or get completely blown out if the passing game fails.
  13. When we were up 21-7, I remember thinking this is about to become one of the greatest sports days of my life. 6th street was going to be flooded with NT fans. Instead, it was the longest ride home that I can ever remember. We really were the better team on that day. It was no fluke. Scott Davis was a man possessed. I have let this one go after all these years. However, if that game was replayed today with different officials, we would have won. There is so much media attention today that even biased refs would have a problem getting away with that crap. Not to mention that instant replay would have reversed those 3 big plays. Worst officiated game ever ? It certainly is in my lifetime.
  14. UT - loss SMU - loss LaTech - win Nicholls State - win Indiana - loss UAB - win Southern Miss - win Rice - loss FAU - loss UTEP - win FIU - win UTSA - win 7-5 Strong finish. No Bowl. I really like our QB depth. But, I am concerned that no true #1 will emerge from the battle and we will see a lot of inconsistency.
  15. Wins: Nicholls, UAB, SoMiss, UTEP, FIU We win 2 of these: SMU, LaTech, UTSA, FAU, Rice Losses: Texas, Indiana, Rice 7-5 with an unsettled QB position. If one of the QB's comes out strong and grabs the reigns by the midway point, then 8-4 is possible and that gives us a chance in the final game in San Antonio.
  16. As much as I hate to say it, whats good for CUSA is good for UNT. The conference prestige holds a lot of water.
  17. Joe T's may be the most egocentric restaurant in DFW. What restaurant of any notoriety doesn't take credit cards ? Of course, they have their own little ATM with a high service fee available for those that are not aware of the cash-only payment (which is almost everyone who goes the first time). There is something fishy about the cash-only policy. Are they skirting on taxes and paying off someone ? Why else would you not take credit cards, because they can certainly afford any transaction fees. Margarita's are no longer the same. And, they want you to prepay for reserving tables. This place was once a Ft Worth icon. Now, I wouldn't even recommend it to a tourist. UT fans can have the place.
  18. It's nice seeing our coaches NOT paid at the bottom of the D1 programs in Texas. It also makes a statement that this university is making a real effort to develop name recognition in sports (Basketball excluded). Hey, Rome was not built in a day. We are off to a good start.
  19. Really enjoyed the write up. Thanks Harry. GreenP1........I have the same concern. I just don't think that Mac is going to want to throw any of the less experienced guys at the Horns, especially early on in the game. I appreciate the effort that is being put out by every player on this team. But, I would like to see the best performing player earn the start, regardless of the experience factor.
  20. I feel that the "coaching" job done by Mac, Chico and the others on his staff has been top notch. I also feel that our coaches make very good use of every ounce of ability in the players we have (or had). The only question I have with Mac and his staff, has to do with them being able to increase the base talent level and keep it going. They do a great job with what they have. But, can they raise the bar in obtaining talent ? TD recruited some pretty good players. Mac and his guys made them very good football players, better athletes and better academic students.
  21. Anybody know what the numbers mean ? Is it time put in ?
  22. This proposal is ridiculous and is an attempt by the old guard to punish any kind of innovation that might change the landscape of the game. I do suspect that this is somewhat of an attempt by the power schools to keep the little guy down. Chip Kelly is probably glad he went pro. Hopefully, the NFL won't follow suit if it passes.
  23. On the other hand, look at the size of our QB's ~ 6'4", 6'5" and 6'6". Although, I suspect Chumley may take on a different role, unless he was promised a shot at QB.
  24. I am sure it was not 25k. It was 20k or even less (could have been as low as 15k). I went to all those games and we were nowhere near 25k that year. But, I do remember everyone saying that we were right on track after each game. I think that other mandate was that the stadium had to seat 30k, which I believe is when the metal end zone bleachers went into Fouts.
  25. Buyers in particular is an outstanding tackler. But overall, this was the best tackling defense that I have ever seen at NT. I will always remember the mean green D of 2013 and their ability to really take over the 2nd half of games the way they did.
