  1. IMO, the loss of Jyaire Shorter is going to hurt in particular. That guy was a beast for us and clearly the best WR. He was the ONE guy that I didn't want to see hit the portal.
  2. FWIW, I no longer consider the Pac-12 much of a power conference (When USC and UCLA leave). When Texas and OU leave the Big 12, they will be in a similar situation. IMO, there is a real opportunity for the AAC to close the gap on the future Pac-12, Big 12 and maybe even the ACC.
  3. I know that Tylor was amazing for us at NT. But, his offer list is more impressive than I even expected. I think the NIT championship and national exposure had a lot to do with it. I hate the transfer portal and wish we could have him for 1 more year. But, this kid deserves everything good that is coming to him IMO. I hope there is a day when players don't see NT basketball as the 2nd step from the top of the ladder. But, the program has made so much progress. Alabama Arkansas Louisville Ole Miss Florida Baylor Oklahoma State Texas Tech https://www.si.com/college/louisville/basketball/tylor-perry-top-eight PS-Not sure why he would want to spend his last year at Louisville, when they were 4-28. I bet Tylor ends up at a school that is supposed to compete for a national championship next year (Bama ?).
  4. This is THE hire that is going to keep us relevant as a mid major power. Book it !
  5. I have faith in Ross Hodge. It's the next best thing that could happen to us right now.
  6. Thank you coach ! He appears to be leaving us in good shape, if he doesn't purge our roster 😉 I don't know who Matt Norlander is, but.... "News: North Texas beats UAB and wins the NIT. Next up: Mean Green coach Grant McCasland will be leaving UNT to accept a six-year, $18 million deal to coach Texas Tech, sources told CBS Sports. More: UNT will promote associate HC Ross Hodge to replace McCasland, sources said."
  7. Tyler Perry.....unreal
  8. Exactly. Who is to say whether or not taking points off the board changes the intensity. You can't do that.
  9. Then we are F'd. I don't know how you can take points off the board 2 minutes or so later. That's just crazy.
  10. I am hoping to hear that Hodge is named HC at the same time Grant announces he is leaving for Tech. Keep things moving forward. Our guy is already here. No need to bring in any outside uncertainty.
  11. I have been expecting this all along, which has taken some of the sting away from Grant leaving. But, I will be extremely disappointed if Hodge is not the guy. My personal opinion is that everyone knew this was coming and the plan has always been for Hodge to eventually take over. Hodge is too good and would have been a head coach somewhere else. We need to build an identity (defense) and a coaching tree here. That is how you build a successful, consistent program especially when you are not a big money school. Boise State did this very well with their football program for many years.
  12. OMG OMG OMG
  13. Do not allow a 3pt shot
  14. It is looking pretty familiar to that game so far 😞
  15. Yikes. Wisconsin is on fire 😞
  16. Exactly. It almost has to be someone still playing, which really limits things to Grant and May. May is becoming a hotter name now. But, I fear they have already committed to and offered Grant.
  17. I would rather FAU play SDSU than UConn. UConn is really rolling now.
  18. I wish that I could laugh about that. Why would you think that is not possible ? Unfortunately, I agree and have already resigned myself to this happening 😞 Lubbock sucks. But, there are a lot of reasons why this makes sense for Grant right now. But, there is some light at the end of the tunnel IMO ........ The best thing for us to do is to continue to play the same slow paced system and smothering defense. We have built a unique identity that gives even the P5 schools fits. In order to do that, we need to retain the same staff (outside McCasland). That means offer Ross Hodge the HC job and hope he takes it. He is currently the associate head coach and has been with Grant all these years. He is a head coach in waiting. We don't need another HC coming in with their own philosophy. Keep this train rolling with what has worked for us. And, hope that Grant doesn't take a lot of the players with him.
  19. OK St catches a big break. 3 seconds into the final 2 minutes 😞
  20. Can't foul the 3 point shots like that 😞
  21. Our defense is just incredible. If Grant does move on, please let Ross Hodge take over the team. We need to continue with the same philosophy and I don't think we would miss a beat.
  22. Ouch. That hurts. I hope it's nothing serious for him and his family though.
  23. Yeah. I wish that I could have saved the article link. It had a lot of good information overall about the tournament history. It was posted before the tournament actually started. And, I said CNN (typo). I believe it was ESPN or maybe CBS Sports.
  24. I saw a CNN article yesterday pointing out various statistics regarding the NCAA Tourney. They mentioned North Texas as being the highest rated NET school (38) to not make the tournament. They also pointed out all the other teams that got at-large bids with lower NET ratings. Pittsburgh made the tournament with an at large bid and a NET rating of 67. This was a crime and the NET was supposed to stop this sort of bias. That same article mentioned that CUSA has won 5 of the last 7 first round tourney games with no seed being higher than 12. That's an amazing achievement that should be recognized. It's not.
  25. If you went by NET alone, we would be in. The power conference bubble teams that ESPN has getting in all have NET ratings far below NT's. It's really ridiculous.
