All I have to say is.... In Wren we trust !
-
Remember a few weeks back when the news broke that Mason Fine was considering a transfer ? I wonder if he knew something at the time that we did not. It could be that Littrell and Wren both talked him into staying to see this through, even though Seth may not be here. Seth and Mason seem very close. I would be surprised if they didn't discuss this possibility at some point.
-
I have a feeling that Wren may already have his guy. I think that he and Seth have spoken a lot about this and Seth probably gave him a heads up in advance. Could it be that Wren, Seth and this 3rd party candidate have all been talking in advance ? Unless of course we are promoting from within 😨

Yep, the last 24 hours have provided a lot of smoke. Too much IMO to have nothing come out of this.

Yeah. I knew what he meant. However, there are a ton of uneducated fans out there who think a schools athletic budget is directly related to the school size. My Ex-wife was an U of Oklahoma graduate and was stunned that North Texas had a larger enrollment than OU. In fact, she refused to believe it. So, I divorced her 😉

I know you are snooping around our forum, as we are yours. I just want to politely correct one of your comments in your forum regarding the size of our school: "Having been around small schools before, I'm not surprised. Anytime there are creditable rumors of one of the big boys snooping around, you worry because you know if the big boys go with a full-court press, there is little chance that it can be matched and they'll get what they want. Every off-season with a successful HC, a small school usually has to sweat out the rumors." Kansas State Fall 2018 Enrollment - 22,221 North Texas Fall 2017 Enrollment - 38,094 Now, I am not sure I am correct, because I studied my math at little old North Texas. But, I am pretty sure that 38,094 is bigger that 22,221.

I feel for Emmitt. I have been a fan since '86. But unlike a lot of members here, I have not been able to dedicate a large part of my life to my school due to family and work obligations. But, my take is this.... We are just a few years removed from a decade of bad decisions from top-to-bottom The infrastructure is in place for us to keep moving forward in all sports (well, except for baseball). We are not going to be able to make a major jump to a better conference until we can sustain what we have going right now. This includes fans showing up to the games and donors continuing to support the school more than our G5 peers. Once we become consistent in all the things it takes to have a successful sports program, good things should come our way and North Texas should gain it's rightful place. There should be no real difference between Texas Tech and North Texas when it comes to sports, except for the conference payouts and the notoriety that comes with it. The same is true for K State. Assuming Seth does leave, hopefully Wren makes a great hire that can continue the process without overhauling the offense. This will keep many of the recruits (and Mason) happy. And hopefully, Seth will talk to the recruits himself and let them know that North Texas is still a great place to play and the support is still here. Seth has made a lot of friends here. He is not going to want to burn bridges IMO if it comes to that. My biggest concern is also the upcoming recruiting class. So Seth, I understand if you feel the need to take the P5 position. But, please don't leave the cupboard bare.

It all starts at the top. Wren (especially) and our Pres set the tone for UNT athletics. Wren is the man and he is the guy we really could not afford to lose IMO.
-
It's funny (or not) looking at Seth's Twitter feed. So many K-State fans have started following him recently. I hope their efforts end up being for nothing :)
-
Hopefully they make their choice in the next day or two. I have to believe that Wren is already being proactive, just in case. I just hate the P5 and their egos 😒
-
He heard about twitter. But, he thought it was a new Jimmy John's sandwich.

If I was to place odds on Seth leaving after this season, I would probably make them about 4 to 1. in other words, I strongly think that he will be here next season. Seth is building a great resume. Right now it is good enough to be considered for one or more P5 jobs. But, I am not sure it is strong enough yet to actual get offered a position that he would really want. He is doing a terrific here. I just think he needs at least 1 more successful season behind him before serious offers start coming in. If our team was undefeated or had 1 loss right now, I would think differently. But, they started off so strong and received all that national attention after going 4-0. Since then, they have been an average CUSA team. I think the last 8 games might cause just a bit of hesitation for P5 schools with open positions.
-
Great point. I would like to know what our 4th down success ratio is when it is 4th and < 2. It has to be < 25%.
-
OK. OK. Enough about the game. What I really want to know is whether or not NT fans at the game got to experience that awesome cannon ! If so, how incredible was it ?
-
20-3 MT over UAB. Wow, CUSA West is just falling apart.

I always thought that a basketball coaches ability to build a strong team was 80% recruiting and 20% actual coaching. Going from Benford to Grant has completely changed that way of thinking. This team is light years more prepared than anything we have had in recent history (maybe ever).
-
My thoughts exactly. Look, I am thrilled that we have Coach Littrell here and he is building up our program, which I expect to keep improving. I am of course not happy about our conference play this season. But, overall things are improving. However, that ODU loss did not just hurt North Texas, it also took some of the luster off Seth. That game was a monumental collapse. If we were to drop another game and/or have another bowl loss, IMO the P5 programs might start to get cold feat just a bit (if they have not already). Seth can have this team regroup next year and have an outstanding season. Then, the P5 coaching jobs will become more of a reality. I am not saying that schools like K State won't still come after Seth this year. But, the chances are certainly less than that were after we were 4-0 and whipped Arkansas in their place. I am certainly not going to sweat things or even look at other coaching candidates right now. If we are 8-1 or 9-0 next year and on top of the conference, it might be different.

During several games they have mentioned that Guyton does not drop the ball often. I don't think they do their research much 😞 -
They have UTSA at #5 ? Really ?
-
Free food at Jimmy Johns ? Didn't that help keep our AD around all those years 🙂
-
Weather related ? Look at what weather (or threat of weather) has done to 2 of our home games. I am convinced that the only reason UTSA attendance stays at the top is because of the indoor stadium. I personally don't like indoor stadiums. But, weather is an issue they never have to deal with.

Fouts was certainly better looking from the outside, than the inside. From I-35, it looks more like a traditional FB stadium than Apogee. Don't get me wrong though, I love apogee and games at Fouts had some real shortcomings (sight lines, track, vendors, urinals (ugghh), noise dispursement, etc). See you later McNeese State !

They will be burdened by that Cannon meme for years. And I for one will help make sure it stays current....LOL It has been one of the funniest things to happen in this football season.
