LaTech Prediction 11/9...and go!
akriesman replied to Philip Ferguson's topic in Mean Green Football
UNT 34 LT 42 Mason will be mason and have a really good game. I just don't trust our defense against any decent opponent. -
Unfortunately, this seems to be true for every G5 school (even Boise). If a coach is hot, he gets snatched up by a P5. Even lower P5 programs lose their HC to the bigger P5's. So, the G5's are constantly having to recognize unproven HC talent. Then, when a school hits on a keeper, they lose him to another school. This makes it nearly impossible to sustain success at our level. 6 months ago we were all paranoid about losing Seth. Now, some here are seriously questioning his ability. It's too early guys. Give him a break.

Jeez guys. I am not happy about the season either. But, IMO there could be some positives come out of it. For one, we could really use some continued stability with the coaching staff. The fact that we are struggling a bit will keep the vultures away from Seth for a while (yes, that is a good thing). Bodie Reeder may nor may not be the answer at OC. He may just need a season or two to work out the kinks here. Reffett needs some more talent (and experience) on D before we can really expect them to take the next step up. Siggers is a stud that could be here for 2 more years. Bussey may be back next year with some young receiving talent. The young D should be better next year. We don't have a Mason Fine on the roster next year. But, we do have some potential talent at the QB position coming up. This year has been a complete let down and the attendance will probably take a hit. But, we still have a bright future and having upper-echelon CUSA recruiting classes the last few seasons certainly doesn't hurt. I certainly don't think the program is on a downward swing. Instead, it is most likely more of a temporary dip.

Torrey puts us in 3rd and long....again. He needs to stop bouncing around in the backfield. -

Torrey puts us into a lot of 3rd and longs. I know that he is great in the open field. But..... -

How does SM get that wide open on 3rd and 17, when we are only rushing 3. Reffert needs to kick some butt right now. -

Good lord. Harris outran our entire secondary 😞 -
Woot Woot. It looks like they used my exact design in the keys. Awesome. But, I had them included on the Light The Tower design. Its great that somebody actually read the feedback.

Sports Illustrated no longer has us making a bowl as of week 5
akriesman replied to MGNation92's topic in Mean Green Football
We are not as good as we thought. But, I think our guys are better than the 2-3 record shows. SMU is 5-0 and #24 Cal is 4-1, was #20 and barely lost to the now #20 Team in the nation. Houston just flat out has better athletes than anyone in our conference. Breakdowns, on D and ST cost us this game. The Houston game was really deflating. But, I am pretty sure that we will win more conference games than we will lose. That should get us a bowl game. CUSA is just not good. There is at least one positive coming from this year. Tre Siggers looks like a potential star RB for us. And, we will have him for 2 more years. -
I would like to see Siggers get 20 carries a game until the D shows they can stop him. Give Torrey about 5 carries and use him more in the passing game (screens). I am not trying to slant Torrey, who is a fine back. But, he is either feast or famine compared to Siggers. DeAndre gets caught for losses or no gain a lot (like last year), which puts us in a lot of 2nd or 3rd and long situations. Siggers is just special. Keep feeding him the ball.

DRC: Breaking news -- Bussey out for the year
akriesman replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Declaring for the NFL draft would be very risky coming off an ACL tear. IMO, his best shot at the NFL is to return for another year. I just hope he stays here and does not transfer next season as a grad student. -
Win out.... Is this season still a disappointment?
akriesman replied to p_phelps's topic in Mean Green Football
You and me both. I had them at 1-3 after the first 4 OOC games (2-3 with a win against UTSA). New offensive coordinator may take some time to adjust to. I had them down for 1 conference loss, a CUSA championship win and a bowl win. So. they are right on schedule regarding my predictions. My concern now is Rico Bussey. He is a big part of our success. -

On the other hand, I love what I see from Siggers. That guy is going to be a beast for us.
