When the NFL and NCAA seasons are finished this year, I would be interested in seeing the home/away records for all teams. I think the lack of fans at the games does minimize the home field advantage somewhat. There is certainly at least a slight decrease in home field advantage, because you don't see the away team having to deal with crowd noise during critical situations.

While I am not advocating this strategy, that is exactly what Darryl Dickey early in his career at NT. They were a bad football team his first few seasons. However, I clearly remember Dickey talking on The Ticket about redshirting a bunch of players for the future. I didn't really have faith in him at the time after 3 bad losing seasons. But, it worked starting in 2011 when he ran off all those consecutive Sun Belt wins and 4 straight bowl appearances. I am pretty convinced that the redshirting early on contributed to that 3 to 4 year run. After all those redshirted players graduated, the team went in the tank.

I had it way back in early march (moderate case, no hospitalization needed). The fever lasted over 2 weeks. The health department would not clear me to leave the house for over 2 months because of existing cough. Of course, this was the very beginning of the outbreak. So, maybe they were being overly cautious then. I would say that it took me about 5 months to get back to completely normal. Up until Covid, I hadn't been sick in about 15 years. In the 3 months right after Covid, I came down with 2 stomach viruses and also an MRSA infection. In other words, Covid seems to have knocked out my immune system. Hope you get better soon. It is a crazy and unpredictable virus.

This is why I am not going to jump on board with the Littrell bashing. Seth's first year of recruiting was a shortened season due to the late start. His second recruiting season was indeed disappointing. Since then, the staff has done a terrific job recruiting and 2021 looks promising also. I get the disappointment. Getting hammered by our hated local rivals causes anger and snap judgements to be made. When you throw in all the redshirts, we really won't know what the last 2 classes will bring until 2021 at the least. If this program turns it around and starts winning with the better classes, Seth is going to be looking elsewhere and who could blame him after some of the abuse he has taken lately. If he leaves, people will then be complaining because coaches show no loyalty and always use the G5 schools as a platform to something better. Where is the fan loyalty ? If you are a G5 coach, your damned if you do and damned if you don't. I am not happy either with the way things have gone over the last year. And last week was a complete embaresssment. But, it is a little to early to be talking about buyouts IMO. If 2021 is a dumpster fire, then it might be a different story.

That is a really, really good analysis. I think you are spot on.

I won't give a score. But, if Bean can throw no more than 1 pick, we have a good chance IMO. If Aune also plays, that goes for him as well. If as a team we throw 2 or more picks, we lose. Buechele had an off day last game. He normally does not turn the ball over like that. We can beat SMU. I just don't think it is likely because of Buechele's experience and skill.

I can't imagine they would fire him. La Tech accomplishes a lot with so little to work with. Maybe they were going to ask him to take a pay cut due to Covid ?

"I wouldn’t read too much into it but there you have it. " I know right. I think every team that won their first game is on the list. Texas Tech got 11 votes and we all know what nearly happened in Lubbock. The top 20 is pretty meaningless this year.

21-20 Tech. Zappe with 389 yards passing in the 3rd quarter. The kid is good.

When you have a good QB like HB does, you can keep most games competitive at least. Nice to see them having some success against Tech. Zappe has thrown for 295 yds so far. It certainly makes our D look a bit better.

That event was a little before my time at UNT, but I remember that story about the murder. About the same time, I remember that my dad used to leave his Playboy magazines around. They always had a really good college football preview (really, it wasn't just all pictures at the time). I saw one of the covers of an issue that was a year or two old, which mentioned the preseason Top-20 ('78 or '79). North Texas was actually in their preseason Top-20. So in 1984, I started attending North Texas. My recollection at the time was that they must have a pretty good football program, based on reading about them 4 years earlier. Little did I know what was coming. I attended my first game in 1984, only to find out that the football program had recently dropped to 1AA. What a struggle it has been since then. But, the program has recovered and come a long way since my first Fout's experience in 1984.

Backups are awful on D. You just knew they were going to let HBU score a few late TD's and make this look respectable.

HBU D is now completely beaten down. I'm starting to feel bad for them. If I am the HBU coach, I just try and run the clock out now as much as possible.

Well, I am not sure how I feel about this team coming out of the first half. I certainly don't see any dominance over a lower division opponent. I don't think we have a single QB sack and little pressure coming up front. The offense has had it's moments, but against a terrible D. Zappe has a lot more poise and accuracy than both our QB's at this point. But, he is a senior and our guys are very young. At least we are not losing.

I think that Seth will wait unitl the 2nd half.

Oh my. What a horrible pick thrown by Bean. This is exactly my 1 big concern with him.
