This offense is offensive right now.

I am also really confused by this. We have shown nothing on the field to bring about any confidence. Tech should have beaten SMU (lost on hail mary) and they lost to Mississippi State by 1 point. Now, compare that to our last 2 games. Forget the blowout of NW State. They are 0-3 with a blowout to Tenn-Martin. Not to mention, we are on the road. I hope that I am wrong. But, all the signs point to a blowout, unless a bunch of our guys get magically healthy. We are also really missing Adaway IMO. Torrey is a fine gadget back. But, we need someone else to step up back there.

Just for reference, NW State is 0-2 since playing us, including getting drilled 35-10 by Tennessee-Martin this past weekend. And of course, La Tech should have beaten SMU if not for a last second Hail Mary. Unless Seth completely turns things around on Saturday, we are going to get drilled. I know this is not a surprise to anyone.

How is Wren even involved in this conversation ? A month ago we were worried about him becoming the Missouri AD. This talk is silly. Wren is one of the best things to happen at NT in a long time. I can't believe this is even being discussed.

Upgraded conferences looking for new candidates: "OK Guys, show me what you have today". North Texas At Home: "Lets throw down one of the worst all-around performances in recent history". UAB on the road: "Hold my beer" I will be back next week hoping for the best. In the meantime, I am going to take a 1 week sabbatical from all things Mean Green. This appears to be a turning point for our program and not in a good way.

UTSA only has the untapped, large San Antonio market. They don't have better facilities than we do. And, they have not exceeded us in on the field performance. If they get in the AAC, it is because of location only.

If Torrey is healthy, I take the points. I think that Ruder and the passing game show up well this weekend.

This is a fantastic question. Since the new rule is that players can transfer once without sitting out, why develop a stud HS QB only to see him transfer to a P5 ? On the other hand, if a good P5 backup transfers and succeeds at the G5 level, they cannot transfer again without sitting out. There are plenty of really good backup QB's at the P5 level. It has worked really well for "that team from Dallas".

I'll take those points. I expected us to be blown out by SMU, but worse statistically. I feel pretty good about our chances to upset UAB.

After the first one and 1/2 quarters last night, the last thing I thought that I would see was another SMU blowout. We finally had a defense playing inspired FB. The stats don't matter to me, only the result. I expected a 20+ loss. I am even more disappointed today because that game should NOT have been a blowout. On the other hand, the defense has given me some hope for the rest of the year. I think the offense will eventually be fine. Still a bit worried about our RB's after Torrey.

Damn. It could, and maybe should, be 14-0 good guys. Nearly 200 yards of offense already and little to show for it. Still impressive so far, especially the D.

I think we would all take this start by the defense. I really feel that Ruder will settle in and be fine. But, it needs to happen quickly.

Blown opportunity there. Lots of opportunity on those passes. Ruder looks composed. He just needs to dial it back again.....barely off.

Despite their recent success, I still don't see the SBC as an upgrade. We were all happy to be leaving that place for CUSA at one point. I still prefer playing the CUSA teams over the SBC teams. The problem really is Judy IMO. She has to go. She is weighing down our conference potential. If the AAC or MWC comes calling, then great. But, I am not interested in returning to the Sun Belt personally.

Yep. I REALLY hate to say it. Right now SMU concerns me more than anyone on our schedule this year, including Missouri. I really despise all things SMU and want to dis on them. But, on paper, they seem to really have real talent with both the players and the coaching staff.

52 - 31 SMU (35-10 at halftime). I feel sick now.

There may not be any D1 QB that plays as fast as Bean. I am not saying Bean is a good QB or that I miss him here (I don't). But, once he has an opening, he is gone. I have certainly never seen that before at NT. I think we need 40+ to have any chance this week. I think our D is improved. But, SMU may have the best offense we play this year.

After watching the game again yesterday, I came away a bit concerned with our RB depth. I know that Johnson and Ragsdale are young and inexperienced. But, we have had freshmen backs in the past look fantastic from the get go. The OL was gashing the NW State D and only Torrey was really able to take advantage of that. Just something to keep an eye on over the next few weeks as the opponents get much tougher. Losing Adaway could end up being a big issue. And yeah, those 2 PI calls were awful.
