  1. He is going to LaTech. In the spring he said SMU was too close to home. He wants to go away from home. It doesn't matter that NT is a better place. It is too close to Rowlett.
  2. Crap like that in Arizona and at Texas in '88 is why I don't care if we play either one of them anymore. If Texas wants to play us, they need to come to Denton and we get to use the refs of our own choosing. And, the team this year beat two 10 win teams. In our entire history, I can only find one other with over a 10 win team (Boise St in 2000) The '75 team only beat one team with a winning record, although beating Tennesse was maybe our biggest win ever.
  3. I left the 2002 team out of the top 5 because they didn't beat anyone outside of the conference until the bowl win. Even that win was over a 7-7 team. They also lost to a 4-8 Arizona team and lost 5 of 6 to start the year. I had them as our #7 team overall. The '75 team was 7-4, but did have wins over Tennessee and Houston. That Houston win looked better when they won the SWC the next year, but that Houston team went 2-8. I placed all three of those Fry teams ('75, '77, '78) slightly lower without bowl scalps. Today, at least two of those teams would have gone to a bowl. I thought the '56 team was worthy of consideration, but I didn't include them because so many of their wins were over non-IA teams.
  4. My choices for the best 5 NT Teams Last 100 years 1947 (10-2) Salad Bowl loss to Nevada Held every opponent to 13 or less and 9 of them to 7 or less Beat Florida and Houston 2013 (9-4) HOD Bowl Champions over UNLV Only NT team to beat two 10 win teams (Ball State and Rice) 1977 (10-1) Beat SMU and 9 win Louisiana Tech to close the season 1978 (9-2) Beat Oklahoma St, La. Tech, Southern Miss, and Memphis 1946 (7-3-1) Optimist Bowl Champions over Pacific Held 8 opponents to 7 points or less Win over Houston I did not include any of the New Orleans Bowl teams since they only won 4 out of conference games during that span, and none were over a team with a winning record (Baylor, Nichols, Troy, and Cincinnatti)
  5. You could see this was going to happen at Southern Miss. When every player that traveled gets in the game EXCEPT Bergland, you knew his fate had been sealed. I just think there is something VERY wrong with this young man. I don't know if it is attitude, smarts, effort, or something else. I hope he gets it figured out soon.... and I hope he gets his degree. Football will be a small part of this man's life in ten years. I really hope he walks away from all of this with his diploma. Good luck BB.
  6. Gelding is the term you are looking for. Gelding - a castrated horse. Castration is the elimination of hormonally driven behavior, causing the animal to be better behaved, calmer, and quieter. Now, if that doesn't descibe Peruna perfectly, I don't know what does.
  7. Since one of them spent time at NT with Coach Fry, maybe he will get it right on game day. So far, I have yet to be impressed with any national media coverage. I would rather them not say anything than to put out incorrect information. We're counting on you Mentioned Best.
  8. Place is closed until 7. The team is here and the public cannot get in until then Just FYI.
  9. Notice about 4 minutes into the video that the TE is standing up next to the tackle. Hayden started doing that at NT with our Tight End Ron Battle. It became known as an "Iowa End" since everyone saw it on tv, but it really should be know as a "NTSU End".
  10. Biggest Plays of the Year Goalline stand vs. Rice – 8 plays inside the 10 and the Owls still have not reached the endzone. Pick 6 vs. La Tech – Zac Whitfield returns a pick 56 yards with 2:00 left in the first half. La Tech had dominated the Mean Green for the first 26 minutes of the game. NT takes the lead at the half and gets a road win. Thompson 26 yard run vs. Ball State – Tied at 27, NT was on the verge of coming back from an 18 point deficit. Thompson shows his wheels and NT gets on a roll. Blocked punt vs Georgia – Starts the 3rd quarter with NT tying the game at 21. We didn’t hold on, but I still come across casual NT fans that first took notice at that point. Chancellor 85 yard TD vs Idaho – Leading 7-6 with 3:00 to go in the first quarter, Chancellor gets loose for a bomb. NT never looks back and wins 40-6 Chancellor 65 yard punt return vs. Rice – Trice drops the pick six, Chancellor scores on the next play. NT 21-16 at the half. Defense shuts out Ball State in the second half – Second half possessions were :Miss 51 yd FG, Turn over on Downs, Punt, Punt, INT Lairamie Lee 20 yard INT return vs. Middle Tennessee – NT had just scored in the 2nd quarter to take a 14-7 lead. Lee takes the pick six to the house and takes the fight out of the Blue Raiders. Coming off the loss at Tulane, this game was a huge win. Chancellor 61 yard pass vs. La Tech – With Tech leading 10-0 and our offense not doing much, Thompson finds Brelan for the TD. Changes the momentum and possibly the season. Jimmerson 42 yard run vs. Rice – Rice leading 16-7 and threatening to run away with the game. Jimmie pops a sweep and gets NT back in the game. Defensive stop at Southern Miss – Thompson throws an interception on our first drive. The defense holds and Southern Miss misses the field goal. Fifty five points later, NT left no doubt. Blocked punt vs Tulsa – Tulsa leading 10-7. Mean Green special teams again block a punt for a score. 42-10 Mean Green. Byrd 82 yard run vs UTEP – Miners hanging around at the half. NT not playing particularly well. Byrd gets loose. NT rolls. Chancellor 46 yard TD vs Southern Miss – Defense holds after an early turnover, Chancellor gets loose, NT crushes the Golden Eagles. Byrd 91 yard TD vs. Tulsa – First drive of the second half last all of one play. Game over. Did I miss anything?
  11. Also hope it isn't CUSA. I know it won't be... just sayin'
  12. Got the green HOD t-shirt today at the Rally House by the Galleria. Small NT section, but the girl there said they were sending more from the Flower Mound store every day.
  13. Last week I went to Denton and watched Hilbert Jackson graduate. It was awesome. I remember when he signed that someone posted on here that they wished he had backed out and gone somewhere else. I said then that he was a classy kid and we would be glad he signed. He went from redshirt to starter and the last two things he will do is walk across the stage and win a bowl championship. I couldn't be more proud of him.
  14. Rally House in Plano has nothing NT. He said Arlington and Flower Mound only.
  15. I think it is worth it. And, I think the food was better this year than it was the other two. The seats are great and the club has had something new to offer each year. I;m glad we did it.
  16. I feel the same way about The Sporting News. When they did not cover our New Orleans Bowl win over Cincinnatti, I promised to never buy one again. So far, so good. Same now goes for ESPN.
  17. Not the only player saying so. I've heard it from others.

    UNLV

    UNLV L Minnesota (8-4) 23-51 L Arizona (10-3) 13-58 W Cent Michigan (6-6) 31-21 W West Ill (4-8) 38-7 W New Mexico (3-9) 56-42 W Hawaii (1-11) 39-37 L Fresno St (11-1) 14-38 W Nevada (4-8) 27-22 L San Jose State (6-6) 24-34 L Utah State (8-5) 24-28 W Air Force (2-10) 41-21 W San Diego State (7-5) 45-19 So, their only win against a team with a winning record is SDSU. That is a good win. Don't really see any bad losses. Beat the teams they should. Lost when they should. Should be fun.

    UNLV

I'm hearing from the team that it is UNLV. Fine with me. Ten years from now and nobody will care who we beat in a January 1 bowl. Just WIN.
  20. I agree with Dajon. He is a future stud too, but my second choice would be Sed Ellis
  21. I'm going on record. RS Freshman Mark Lewis is going to be a stud. I'm making the call now. He will be our next great running back. Anyone else have a Freshman or Soph that will be a standout? Make your call.
  22. #6 Georgia #26 Tulsa #39 Ohio #40 Marshall #46 Ball State #50 East Carolina $63 La Tech #79 Middle Tenn #82 Southern Miss #94 Rice #109 Tulane #112 UTEP #113 North Texas #119 UTSA #123 Idaho Also #29 TCU #33 Baylor #56 Auburn #58 Missouri #71 Houston #91 UAB #99 $MU You can almost hear him... "Samsonite! I was way off"
  23. That team was also Missouri Valley Champions. They beat Louisville 30-28, Cincinnatti 34-14, Colorado State 21-10, and Tulsa 54-12. That made the Mean Green back-to-back MVC champions. Good Times!
  24. I was born when my parents were at NT. Went to classes there before my first birthday. We moved away when I was one, but came back in the Ft. Worth area when I was in 4th grade. Mom and dad started going to the games and I wanted to go too. Dad said to save my money and buy my season ticket. It was $20 for season tickets then (4 home games), but I did just that. I've been going since 1974. Graduated from there twice (B.Ed in '86 and M. Ed in '94). My wife has a degree from there too. We were there at the same time, but did not meet since she was in the College of Business. I also have one grandmother, two aunts, an uncle, and my daughter with UNT in their blood.
  25. And it was just short of the 32,285 we totaled by adding everyone that came from 2005 to 2008.
