We were. Between coaches Mitchell, Rust, and Fry, we were 192-129-13 (.594). That covers 33 years. -

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I think the last time we were 3-2 after 5 games was 1994. We had wins over Abilene Christian, Southwest Missouri, and Southwest Texas State. Maybe that is why this feels pretty good today? The last time we were 3-2 and NOT in I-AA was 1980 with Jerry Moore as HC and wins over UTA, UTEP, and Southwestern Louisiana.

Not to be picky, but I too would prefer not to replay an opponent. That being said, I would gladly go to Cowtown.

With the win on Saturday, Coach Littrell moves past Coach Dodge into 14th place in all time wins at NT. If we get to bowl eligibility, he will move into a tie with Coach Moore and Coach Parker at 11 all time wins for the program. With just 115 more wins, he will catch Coach Mitchell.

4 future opponents on that list. We will have to earn it to get back to a bowl.

Every time I see a fledgling account after a game, my "ignore" list continues to grow.

I thought it was hard to read the numbers. I vote no.

Nic Smith 100+ yards best Frosh since Jamario Drop the mic Walk off the stage

Players who caught your eye tonight vs. Lamar?
UNT86 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
How about my adopted player #21 Nic Smith? First Freshman to rush for 100 yards since Jamario in 2007. -
How soon until they lose scholarships due to lack of academic progress? Don't these guys have to stay in school and graduate or you lose scholarships? I know Kiffin will be long gone by then, but won't there eventually be a price to pay?

DRC: Tuesday notes -- Transfer emerging, Brooks video
UNT86 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I was the OC in a triple option attack. I couldn't care less if they could catch. They were just skinny linemen to me, but they all could block the FS. Nothing else mattered. -
Austin Aune former Argyle Qb available?
UNT86 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
We had a really good QB back in the day that led us to a win over TCU that did the same thing. His last name was Beal. He played pro baseball and came to us after that didn't work out. Beal was an option QB under Corky Nelson if I remember correctly. -
You may also try talking to the Mean Green Club staff. Perhaps, with a small additional donation, you could get a game used ball.

Did he fail to qualify coming out of HS? If so, doesn't he need to graduate to qualify for us? I would also read it as 3 to play 2. Looks like a great pickup IF we get him on campus.

DRC: UNT picks up commitment from JC linebacker
UNT86 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Offers from Arkansas State, Southern Miss, and Middle Tennessee. Hope we get him here and on the field. I'll bet he can play. -
He may not have many plays he considers highlights on defense. When I made recruiting tapes for DB's, I often included plays that were not around the ball. You need to show footwork, hip turn, change of direction, and ability to close on a route. All of those things will be interesting for a college coach, but not something a kid would think to put on his highlight tape. Also, if you were playing him, would you throw the ball anywhere near him? I have to think I could find better options than to throw it back there and let him pick it.
-
As athletic as he is, all he needs is a willingness to stick his nose in it. If he does, he can play defense at our level. He could also be a fit at an outside receiver, but it would be 3 years before he helped. At safety, he can help sooner.

DRC: Thursday practice notes, video highlights
UNT86 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
All practice video is boring, but that may set a record. -
I'll take #21 RB Nic Smith. I see lots of defenders with broken ankles in his future.

Brain cramp. Fixed it.

I think it has something to do with alcohol, but it was my understanding that alcohol related arrests were not a problem at OU.
