Not only Cowboys memories, but several great H.S. football games there! none with my alma mater though because we were catastrophically horrible.

Here's a question for the masses (no, it's not a thread hijack!): If the Clemson game were this Saturday (Apr.10), how do you see the QB depth chart shaking out? Here's mine: Tune Thompson Dodge - if both Tune & Thompson go down, I think this would be the better option than going with Baine (sorry SaysoJoe!) Baine Teegarden

Hang on. Austin Fitzpatrick is returning and he has lots of potential. Then we recruited the TE from Cali Juco. THEN we moved D.Ross back to TE. All of these guys as well as Brown, which you pointed out, will be ready to contribute right away. I would say as far as depth at the TE position, we're pretty stacked there as well!

This argument doesn't work! People get their arms broken by being run over at gas stations by rabid GMG.com fans that way! Plan B: He does come from an orange HS program.

Wonder Why Villanova Imploded Down The Stretch?
MeanGreenTexan replied to CMJ's topic in Mean Green Basketball
This ain't nothin but baby-momma-drama! -
It's gotta be on one of those super long white t-shirts. I'd buy at least one.

I don't disagree with that. And I don't think it's fair to point to that final drive and say, "Hey, we're going to get a full season of 100% completions and a TD every 3 passes!", but I do think that drive showed us, the team, and most importantly him, that he can succeed here. It's not like he came in and handed the ball off every play. That would have been a complete waste. I seriously doubt that we would be singing this guys praises like we are if he did not play in that game last year. We would be saying, "Oh, this guy Thompson is having a nice spring, but he's still unproven. Tune should definitely start!" The fact that this thread is even here is partially a testament to the decision to burn his redshirt last year. Unfortunate: Yes. Right thing to do: Yes.

I don't think he'll be leaving for his dream job at his Alma Mater any time soon. DePauw is not quite on par with the other schools courting him. Having said that, I don't see him leaving the state of Indiana. It's home. If he does, I'm sure he will come back as soon as he gets a chance. I would not be surprised if Crean doesn't work out, that Indiana U. comes calling.

What an incredible stretch of play by the ladies over the past month. They must be confident they can beat ANYONE now. WE'RE PROUD OF YOU LADIES!!

Welcome to the board NTfan4now... I hope you'll drop the '4now' part of your name after we do well next season!

If the Defense can slow the competition to avg 26 pts/game, and the offense simply remains constant (many are expecting an uptick with Canales), then we definitely hit 7 wins next year. I hope DLo can get the guys to do that. Losing Tobe and Eddrick certainly won't help.

DANG!

Is there such thing as an APR BOOST?
-
Please ask any player or coach on the team if that assertion is absurd! It doesn't matter what the record is/was if you can win a game, you do it! Now if the score was 40-3 or something, then yes, you probably don't do it...
-
OK. Yeah, Baine had mono and didn't even travel with the team to that game. Thompson is definitely a Sophomore, and as much as that sucks, according to his interview with Vito, he values that 3+ min. of game time and I hope the other guys on the team do too. Camaraderie/Confidence will be critical for him in the early go if he does manage to start game 1.
-
What would you have done sir? Riley = Out. Tune = Out. Baine = Out. No one else had experience running QB in our system other than Thompson. We were 10 pts down in the game. We still had a chance to win. Play the person who gives you the best chance to win. If you don't do that, you don't deserve to be coaching at ANY level, FBS, High School, or otherwise.

Revised Starters And Minutes Distribution Guesses
MeanGreenTexan replied to BleedGreen's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Alzee needs more minutes at PG, not on the wing. Take 5 min. a piece away from Josh & Dom and distribute them on the wings and I think we may have something here. I hope Edwards can contribute more than 5 min/game, but I haven't seen anything other than his 3 year old HS highlights that make me think otherwise. If we're relying on Holmen & Hogans to replace Tramiel, then we might be in trouble. Hogans is good, but not on Tramiel's plane. I think Holmen will only get better, but I don't know if he will be on ET's level yet either. -
What about Running backs? I don't care what any of y'all say! WESTON SQUIER IS THE MAN and that will be obvious by the time the first game rolls around!
-
That would suffice.

Hate to see him go. Hopefully Johnny can fill his spot with another good outside shooter with defensive prowess and a knack for getting steals for fast break points at critical times. Best of luck to Collin!

I said Dodge wasn't the right hire for us...and I was right: I think the jury is still out on this. The early returns are not good, but we don't know for sure. What if you're wrong? I said Riley... was too fragile to play D1 QB...and I was right: Riley was the best option at QB though, injury prone or not. And I say Dodge will not be back next season, but I will be: No, you said Dodge will be gone by week 7 or 8, meaning he wont even finish out the season. Will you stand by that? What if you're wrong? No one is blindly supporting. I don't think Dodge is always right. I was scratching my head 'til my scalp was bleeding when the whole 2 TO, 4th down fiasco went down last year. Regardless, saying the same thing over and over gets old. You're frustrated with the football program (like most of us)! We know... just post something discussion-worthy sometimes please. You're a UNT alumn right? I know you can contribute more!
-
Emmitt, I want to... I just don't see how starting a carreer backup or Thompson (or Baine, etc...) will help the new offense click. I think just about everyone can agree that with Canales running the show, we stand a better chance, but the QB position is the most important on the field. I think the concerns there are valid. I really hope you're right though.

And if this is not true, will you promise to not post anymore?
