  1. I wonder how many others share your stance. UNT has well over 100,000 alumni in the Metroplex. 18,000 people (including current students) show up on gamedays. How many of the remainder are only waiting on the new stadium to begin showing up to games? I hope the new stadium will bring some alumni back and maybe rope them in. You insinuate that once the new stadium opens, you'll be there? What is holding you back now? Is it really the stadium itself? I hope so... If it's something else, like say cost, then you will be sad when we open the new stadium and ticket prices rise. Try to make all of the games. You have a new grad discount! We all know Fouts is dilapidated, but OUR Mean Green plays there this year. If we want to support them, that's where we need to be (at least those of us in the Metroplex).
  2. So that probably means that Darien Williams and Sam Roberson left in good standing?
  3. I wonder if there are any quality late-qualifiers left out there for us to pick up?
  4. According to my math, we must have made at least a 956 on this years APR report in order to avg a 925 over the last 4 years. 2007 report -- 916 2008 report -- 917 2009 report -- 911 2010 report -- 956 3700 / 4 = 925 Wow! That is quite a jump. Maybe I'm wrong in how the calculations are done though... If someone is enlightened, then please let us know! Either way, it will be nice to play with all of our schollies!
  5. Street Fighter II > Mortal Kombat. No doubt.
  6. Could you imagine adding Texas and/or Oklahoma to that conference? What a beat down. They would just have to crown the SEC conference champion the national champion if that were to happen. If I were Texas, I really wouldn't mind staying right where I'm at. I'm in the hunt for a national championship every single year because my conference is respectable enough, but there are only 2-3 major hurdles to get over before running the table. In the SEC, every week presents a team that can beat the Longhorns (other than Miss St). The Pac 10 gets them exposure out West, but they already have that thanks to ESPN et al. If they play a game at Washington State, the only people watching will be hardcore Texas fans. The periphery that would normally watch them in CST will skip those PST games. You win some, you lose some...
  7. I bet he would probably try the Brandon Jennings route if Mizzou falls through.
  8. Wow. IF Mitchell falls through for Mizzou, do we want to go after a guy like this? The dude can't even make it to class in a structured HS setting. What on earth would prompt him to go to class in a University setting? RV would need to get some tutors to work overtime with this kid. We already have enough APR problems as it is...
  9. Good qualifications to be a consultant... but what is CUSA looking to do? Are they going to proactively look at inviting schools (if so, hopefully they would consider us)? Or are they just trying to line up ducks in case the hammer falls on the Big 12? What is the point of hiring this guy now?
  10. Sadly, there would be other outstanding issues to be concerned with. But, I think with those kinds of improvements, we could be looking at a 7(+/-1) win season, IMO. The first two points are expected from me. The last point... I dunno. 1. If the DT's are good up the middle, great! I'm still concerned with the DE's. They're either undersized, or they're not on campus yet! 2. Our Red Zone woes have been horrendous, but even with marked improvement, we'll still falter there from time to time. Can our kicking game at least put up 3 pts? 3. Your biggest "what if" of all. Who knows what we'll get from our QB play?
  11. That still doesn't excuse the double standard of people whining over us being referred to as NTSU. I happen to like North Texas!
  12. I've got a date for that game. She's pretty good looking too! AND, by that time, our future Mean Green grad should be (by God's grace) 8 months old!
  13. Taking 2 from the best team in baseball is pretty good! Tommy Hunter looked good. The Rangers should be in the thick of this division, if not win it, this year.
  14. I believe a wise man once said: "The buck stops with Lee Jackson."
  15. I love her reaction to that comment... basically, "You think I DON'T know anything about sportz!?!? Well, you're wrong! Michael Jordan is the greatest hockey player everz!! I'm gonna punch you!" She needed to realize what she said was ignorant and just move on.
  16. Ooops! That's right. I don't know why I put Spain there... maybe because Ronaldo is with Real Madrid. Anyway, you're right. He's Portuguese. Sorry. I think Messi and Ronaldo are closer than you might think. Both are scary good with the ball in space and both can shoot lights out. Personally, I give the nod to Messi as well. You're right about the Americans. The lack of a scorer out front will hurt. That's why we need Altidore to step up. It wouldn't hurt for Dempsey to have another great tourney either. I wish Davies were healthy. He would have been a huge help. I would like to see if Gomez can keep up his nice play as of late, but I'm not expecting alot of goals from the Americans. Cant wait!
  17. Sadly, Oranges go away after U-12. Time to get competitive and not just play for fun. Tatu was the Nolan Ryan of the Sidekicks. The face of the franchise. The Indoor Soccer league has been dead since the early 2000s (at least in Dallas). Brazil & Argentina are the powerhouses of S. America. They compete well on the world stage too. Spain/Germany/England/Italy/Netherlands/Portugal are some other teams to be aware of. Some of the African teams are good too like the Ivory Coast. Usually, if you go by one name, you're either Brazilian, or yeah, you're good. Listen for Messi (sounds like "messee") from Argenina, Chrisiano Ronaldo of Spain, Kaka of Brazil, Xavi from Spain. Beckham will be suited up for England this year. Yes, he is still under contract in LA, but he plays mostly in Europe. Freddy Adu did not make the team. Yet another catastrophe of Nike hyping someone too much. The E.Texan(Nacogdoches) you're talking about is Clint Dempsey. He's probably the best field player on the US team. Mia Hamm is the Jordan of Women's Soccer. She's the reason the Americans were so dominant in the 90's. Great Player. Alexi Lalas was OK, but now he runs some MLS team as a GM or something. All teams are qualified and are in groups of 4 right now (32 total teams). The teams will all play the other teams in their group and the top 2 teams/group advance to the round of 16. After that, it's single elimination all the way to the final. Go for the Americans! Expect them to be #2 in their opening group behind England. After that, who knows... Enjoy the Cup!
  18. He most certainly deserved those selections as well. However, Booger and Cobbs were SBC Players of the Year. Jamario was too, but I wouldn't say he's HOF worthy either.
  19. I'm thinking of taking a flyer on Manny Pacquiao. like Jean-François Copé, he's the next up-and-coming political superstar!
  20. Stay away from the Ayatollah. He totally wrecked my team last year.
  21. Nicely played. I was wondering the same thing. Rick, come back!
  22. From the early - mid 2000's teams, I'm OK with just Kennedy/Cobbs, and maybe Quinn, Brewster & Buckles. I liked Hall alot. I don't know if he is HOF worthy though?
  23. It already has better sightlines. Heck, the new stadium is almost as close to Fouts Field playing surface as the current Fouts field end zone seating.
