  1. Here's a little reading material for you: UNT Music School Webpage Indiana University holds a candle. Otherwise, you need to look at private schools like Juliard to find better music programs, and forget about Jazz. UNT IS the best Jazz school. Do not get UNT Alumni started on defending the Music School...
  2. Three uses of the word "Grow" in a short span. You know what else grows? Apple Trees. Oh no, it's Major Applewhite.
  3. I love the fanfare on first downs. Whatever you do Green Brigade, continue this.
  4. This is the most ambiguous scoop I've ever seen. There is actually no scoop here at all.
  5. I almost got on there and asked if people would like to see some wind turbines around cowboys stadium, but then after some thought, that was just tacky.
  6. This could turn out to be worse. But hey, at least he'll have a chance to fulfill his HCIW dreams.
  7. I'm up for whoever the Head Coach wants but since you asked: OC- Chico (if he would consider staying) or Chris Thomsen DC- Brad Franchione I think guys like Trooper Taylor and John L. Smith are way out of the equation. These are guys that could potentially be interviewed for the HC position.
  8. I think everyone on here would like to hire the North Texas equivalent of Joe Paterno. I would love this too, however, I don't know if THIS upcoming hire is the one that nets us THAT guy. We need someone who can come in and use North Texas as a stepping stone to their next level. In doing so, they will hopefully leave UNT in a better place than where they found it. Slowly, we can work our way up to the level where North Texas is a desired position for any coach and we can hire, pay, and hang onto a top coach for a very long time. I believe that can happen. I just don't think we're going to find our Joe Paterno with this hire.
  9. Yes, your perpetual homerism for Dodge is well known Tasty. You were so splendid when you transcribed Dodge's radio shows. As was NT03. Coach Dodge thanks you for your undying support. I just wish that one person out of all those who care for Canales as deeply as you two esteemed coach Dodge would please just supply a simple transcription of his radio show. Is that too much to ask?
  10. Exactly. I don't know if this was some kind of backhanded compliment, or an outright slap in the face.
  11. Hmm. This thought did not cross my mind. So you're saying he saw a situation where the coach was for all intents and purposes "lame duck", and saw an opportunity to be a HC when the plug was pulled? I don't think that Chico would sabotage anything (and I'm not saying you are either untjim1995), but I think you may be on to something. I think you would have to at least recognize that this thought possibly entered coach Canales' mind prior to coming here.
  12. I keep seeing people refer to Fran as emotionless, or not having "fire in his belly", etc... How can anyone even know that? And yes, I think if Brad were to come here and serve a few years as a DC under Dennis, he would be ready to handle the reins. Not that much different than Gary Patterson?
  13. I want this to happen so bad... I think you can substitute Gary Patterson for Brad Franchione in our situation.
  14. Yes. Me Too! I love enthusiasm and passion just about as much, if not more than winning! HIRE HIM! For the folks out there that cite Chico's passion to be HERE, at UNT, I say that is a bunch of dung. Canales wants to be a head coach. There's nothing wrong with that. I think it's great. This is his first opportunity to do that. Of course he wants to continue, so he will do and say the right things to keep his position, including being enthusiastic and passionate. He aint dumb. For the folks who's main problem with hiring a "retread" or a former HC (fired or not) is that they will move on to another gig as soon as they can, I ask: What's the problem there? If a coach were to move on from UNT to a better program, it must mean that they led us to some pretty good seasons. That would be great! We simply cannot afford to hand the coaching job over to someone simply because they show enthusiasm and passion. If that were the case, bring Dodge back!
  15. Yes. He talked about the backups needing to make the most of their reps in practice, yadda-yadda, proud of the guys because they never quit tonight, "coach speak". This is nothing new. Dodge was pretty good at this. Coach Canales is pretty good at it too.
  16. Is there something about coach Canales that we don't know? Or did you just really enjoy Mrs. Canales' free shirts?
  17. Does anyone know if MeanGreenSports is going to be doing a chat like they do for football? I'd love this.
  18. I heard the Lamar Middle School drum major is the directors son. He's a phenomenal drum major, but if he comes to UNT to play under his dad, then we'll never be able to get another decent drum major while he's here. Do we really want to re-live this fiasco?
  19. And this was made even more difficult by losing Tomlinson and Drake tonight. I hate to keep bringing up injuries, but wow, this is bad. The fact that Riley had any time to throw at all is a miracle. Massaquoi was just having is way with our 2nd/3rd string line tonight.
  20. What is that symbol below the "O"? 'pi alpha pi'?
  21. I have it on good authority that Lee Jackson is behind this. His initiatives are not only to move UNT to downtown Dallas, ruin Fry Street, and kick puppies, but also to ruin the SBC. Apparently he is a hardcore nerd.
  22. Don't jump on the Shiner! Treat it kindly, and it will be kind to you.
  23. That post on the Troy board does nothing but perpetuate stereotypes of nominal intellect. (translation for Troy fans on here: it shows how dumb you are)
  24. That's a start. I'd be on board. You may be right about some, but I just don't get that vibe from most of them. They're all so polished, it's like they've wanted to do this their whole lives... not to be the voice of the people they represent, but to get the power & prestige that comes with being a congressman/Senator/Governor/President.
  25. I stand corrected. I don't know where I saw that, but after doing some simple googling, he did not carry any states. He finished second in a few, but not 1st. However, he was extremely successful as a 3rd Party candidate, you must admit that. Much more so than Nader/Buchanan/et al. The fact that he pulled down 19% of the vote in '92 enforces that. I just wish people were honest. I'm so put-off with national (and even State) politicians. They're all crooked and, once in office do nothing but vote on party lines and do whatever they can to get re-elected. I hate politics.
