Bonesaw is ready.

The best scenario is for UNT to go 13-0 with a BCS bowl win. I'm fairly certain they will do better than last year. 6-6.

Good for Tobe! Hopefully he can make some noise with the Colonials and maybe get some NFL training camp sniffs in the future.

Happy Birthday Cooley! You are appreciated.

Don't worry deep. The UNT pipeline of all-conference linebackers is not over this year. Zach Orr will be on the post-season all-conference list. Take it to the bank. And, isn't that the list we really care about?

The new arena will be a boost for recruiting for sure. If you haven't noticed, we're expecting a recruiting boost in football with our new facility as well. I think UTA's new arena will have more of an impact than joining the WAC as far as recruiting goes. As for an advantage over UNT, I don't see that happening simply because of the recent success NT has enjoyed. I like the recent rivalry with UTA and hope to continue playing them.

probably the only positive of the whole thing.

It also appears to be portable by air as the ceiling fans look more like turbines.

Power Ranking By relevance - All 120 FBS teams

The Bleacher Report is what you want to make out of it. If the same article had UNT ranked at 120, then everyone would be ripping it to shreds. They are the opinions of random people, just like this board. Now, the exception I take is when people post a bleacher report article as some sort of proof for an argument, or cite a bleacher report article alongside say an ESPN or DRC/DMN/FWST article. It just doesn't carry that much weight. -
1. I never said the AD has no interest in them, they're probably dying to get some traditions going around here just like you and I are. They just wont be starting them because that's not something they're supposed to be doing. 2. I think this proves my point. While students, they generated a bunch of weird traditions, and as they grow older, they preserve them. We need our current students to do the same thing! 3. You know what? Sadly, you're very right. Apathy for my school was drilled into me when I walked on campus in the fall of 2000...by my fellow students! I would see 100's of students per day with UT/OU/A&M/etc... clothes on, and going to a football game? HA! Why would you want to go to a UNT game while the Longhorns/Aggies/Sooners/etc... were playing on TV? This is why there are no traditions that were created/upheld by my generation. Here's hoping that the students on campus now (the ones who passed a bill to up tuition in order to build a new stadium) will begin to take pride in their university and their sports teams and make the games fun! Here's hoping the same students who came up with "Odufa-WHO? ODUFAWA!"(too bad that tradition just graduated) will be the same students who come up with something new at football games this fall. It's all about the students! When they get something viable going, the alumni section will be across the field doing the same thing, because we're all thirsty for it. Sorry, but the Athletic Department and the Alumni Association cannot start these traditions. Can you remember back to your days as a student? If some old fart from the Alumni Association told you some new thing to do during the game, would you have done it? What if your orientation counselor and fellow students told you about a new thing to do during the games? Which would you be more inclined to follow?
-
Bit alert?!? If so, Carry on! If not, where is the logic here? The ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT is established to run the ATHLETICS of the school, not generate cheers and traditions for the school. And, what on earth does the Alumni Association have to do with generating cheers and traditions? By the way, I believe the President of the Alumni Association is readily available to you on this very website, and you are very much engaged with him in open dialogue on this very issue, in this very thread! Do you think a bunch of people in A&M's athletic department or their alumni association dreamed up their cult-like traditions? The answer is no. STUDENTS. Generate. Traditions.

...under the old CBA. We'll see how it all works out. I would love to see Mitchell here for the 2012-2013 season, but if he leaves as a lottery pick next year, that will probably mean UNT made some noise in the NCAA tourney, and that's alright with me!

Sun Belt Coaching Staffs

How 'bout taking an all-conference DE and inexplicably moving him to DT where his production suffered greatly? He's been in this business for a very long time, so there's no doubt he's good at what he does, but I have my doubts about Nelson. Hopefully his decisions will be augmented by coach McCarney, although I hope that even though coach McCarney is a DLine specialist, he doesn't get bogged down in coaching the DLine. -
