  1. You forgot to mention that Tristan Thompson (now gone) had 36 points including setting a record going 20-20 from the line in that tourney game. "Because we have highly regarded recruits coming in, we're going to win the SBC." This is flawed logic, but there are numerous folks on the board who believe this. I just hope these same folks dont turn on Chis Jones or Trey Norris when they turn the ball over a ton playing against D-1 competition this year, or Jordan Williams has a hard time finding a scoring stroke against D-1 defense. Good greif folks, it's like you believe we're playing against ourselves! There are good teams in the SBC. There are going to be growing pains. Get ready. Now, in no way, shape, or form am I saying we will not win the SBC. I think if Hogans stays healthy, the waivers ever come down for Franklin & Patton, Mitchell's impending eligibility comes true, and if Williams & Jones really excel in their development, we will have a great shot at the SBC crown! If we do win, I hope we get a shot at Vanderbilt wherever they are in the bracket.
  2. For real? You do know that UTSA lost to Southern Utah, SHSU, future SBC bottom-dweller S. Alabama, and D-III McMurry right? If these two teams lined up, Coach McCarney would have to call off the dogs midway through the 2nd quarter. I'm not saying that UTSA cannot become a more popular football school than UNT in the future... anything can happen. Who would have thought Boise St. was destined for where they are now? But, right now, there is alot of glamor and intrigue around them because "they're the only team in San Antonio's market". Granted, that is a big deal. But at the moment, that is the ONLY thing going for them. I think with our administration's renewed attention to athletics, our climb to football relevance should beat UTSA's or TX St's.
  3. Wow, that makes our schedule look much better. But, this only means that they will be battle-tested when conference rolls around. They'll be a better team for that schedule.
  4. How soon should we schedule UTSA in football? Sooner than TX St? Sooner than attempting to renew a home-home with Houston?
  5. That and they're returning the best backcourt in the league in Taylor and Gantt.
  6. I agree. I just can't judge McCarney without factoring in the past 5 years. Along those lines, I don't see how anyone could give coach McCarney anything less than a "B". "B+" for me. There have been some head scratching moments, but not nearly as many as in the past 5 years. Some may want to look at his job objectively, only focus on what he's done while here, and not factor in the past few years. That's fine. We're 2-3 and our losses have been blowouts. I can understand a low grade. By the way, we had a 31-0 lead in the 3rd quarter of the game with FAU. How nice must it have been for the guys to be the team that was expected to take the foot off the gas for once?
  7. No brainer if he's interested. He would immediately push for the starting spot against Thompson, and relegate Osbourn & McNulty to the bench permanently.
  8. I took the liberty to expand upon your point.
  9. Well, you see, FAU at one point passed us by. Then they started to play terrible football, and we re-passed them.
  10. I'm really not sure about this... We're losing games to FBS competition. UTSA is losing games to D-III McMurry and the like. Congrats to UTSA on beating Bacone college! Is UTSA a "sleeping giant"? Who knows? But to say that they should be regarded on the same level as UNT, or any other current FBS school for that matter, is premature and ambitious at best.
  11. admit it... you had to google "quaint". Mmmmmmmm Cajuns
  12. Level-headed response: If we beat Lala then get ready for legit conference championship talk. If we lose to Lala then we still have a shot to go bowling. Reactionary response: If we beat Lala then we should expect our Big East invite on Monday, 10/17. If we lose to Lala then each team member should be airboated into the deepest recesses of a gator-infested swamp and left to fend for themselves.
  13. I wonder how many All-Quitters teams Roderick Flemmings is a member of? He should be listed on this one by the way...
  14. Happy Birthday FFR!
  15. Ahem... I believe you forgot someone:
  16. It's so sad because it's so true.
  17. When you have a player of this caliber, and you have a very pro-active AD and pro-athletics University Pres., this will not be an issue.
  18. It pains me to say that I've read just about all of these meltdown threads so far and I've not seen anyone say that McCarney is not the right HC for UNT... How did you come to this conclusion?
  19. How can we get negative seconds? Is this like time travel?
  20. My heart skipped a beat when I read the thread title. I was worried coach Jones was moving on...
  21. NO! Please leave the dance moves to the NT Dancers. They're better at that stuff. No disrespect to the Ohio U band, but the Green Brigade is made up of some of the best musicians in America. We don't need them to stoop to this level. Play a fun pop song every once in a while... sure. Just don't copy that.
