Apogee Stadium achieves Platinum LEED certification
MeanGreenTexan replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
Could you imagine the backlash on here if one of these monstrous windmills fell over and crushed Apogee? I hope RV has insurance on the place. -

So I tried to pick up my student ticket yesterday
MeanGreenTexan replied to oldguystudent's topic in Mean Green Football
Sorry OGS, As well as you have performed during your night class coursework, your ticket will be given to UNTCrazy727 who looks better in his study group. Plus, the ticket counter worker is best friends with UNTCrazy727's parents, so you're going to be left with standing room only tickets. -
I remember this coming out earlier this year... Our Freshmen class was larger than ever, but overall, the enrollment shrank. Maybe upperclassmen are transferring? Maybe we have fewer graduate students? Maybe Lee Jackson is buying off students to transfer to Dallas?

ULM is 2-4, just like UNT. They pounded Troy last week and have some tough losses to some pretty good teams. Their offense appears to be clicking now. UNT is reeling on offense, but defensively, we have confidence/swagger (at least through 3 quarters). Will the passing game take flight? UNT protects Apogee in a close one: UNT - 27 ULM - 24

Is McCarney the guy for the job? If yes, then you are already aware of the growing pains, right? If no, you can say a million "I told you so's". I guess I just want to see the folks who are saying things like this put their butt on the record.

SIGNIFICANT money is made and lost in the postseason. Although last night's start was not as terrible as his past 2, he's hemorrhaging heavily. -

I don't know that Craig is "seldom used". He's their chief pinch-hitter and 4th outfielder. Be ready to see alot of him in Arlington. Oh, and I had the Rangers in 5! -

I did not know that. Thanks for the education. Bingo. Chess matches with LaRussa are not necessary. -
Yeah, I heard that TTG's reps in practice were terrible, and since Harry is best friends with Quoner's parents, don't be surprised to see Quoner come in when Evan says "um" one time too many. Even when TTG has performed well in Peach Basket time.

You sure? If I'm LaRussa, I'm excited to see German out there. I don't care who's on the mound for me at the moment, I'm happy. -
First Year Head Coach Wins Again At Ark St
MeanGreenTexan replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
The biggest problem with comparing AKSt. to UNT is the fact that Aplin is a much better QB than Thompson (at least right now). If Aplin were running this offense, I believe we would be at least 4-2. Now, ULL? There's no excuse for them... but I believe something that is contributing to their attitude is their creampuff early schedule, and getting wins on the board early. -
Do you believe McCarney is the right coach for the job? If yes, what is the deal? We're experiencing growing pains at the moment, but the improvement is plain to see, ESPECIALLY on defense. If no, then sorry. You can tell everyone here a million "I told you so's", whenever McCarney is canned in 4 years.

I didn't mind the Gentry move for Murphy. They brought in a lefty pitcher and Murphy has been terrible against lefties. Gentry is a decent enough hitter, he just failed miserably there. The German move was totally Wash's fault. That was a terrible call. -

I totally agree with these points. I was just trying to make some peace. We've got some ardent fans on this board with some very different ideologies. If I am guilty of painting with those generalizing brushes then, oops, that was not my intent. I also don't hope I come off as a guy that started calling RV and putting in demands because of my measly MGC donation... because I certainly dont and probably never will. RV is paid to do his job and is doing fantastic while he's at it. Part of his job was to hire Todd Dodge. I think we can all agree that it was a mistake. Another part of his job was to hire coach McCarney. There's no way anyone can know if this is a mistake or not. Question him if you will (and some around here are)... that's all part of the fun of GMG.com! -

I think when you start investing money into the program, your view kinda changes. I know I was all about "whatever, I'll support the mean green no matter what!" when I was buying single game tickets for several years... Even when we had season tickets in the seats that did not require a MGC donation. Once we started giving to the MGC, it kinda changes. You start to want more. You've bought in and are giving towards a bigger goal. You feel like your voice means a little more than it did before... at least I feel that way. As divisive as he may be, FFR is easily the most visible fan of the Mean Green not named "Mean Joe". I wonder where the fanbase would be without his support. In addition to money, he also gives a ton of time. I have somewhat of a sense of entitlement with my measly $250 mean green club donation... I'm sure Rick has more than me. Deservedly so. I think this site is a fantastic avenue for fans to vent. I'm glad Rick is chosing to vent here rather than in DRC's editorial or something like that where more people would see it. I would just suggest more tact, rather than coming out guns blazing. All that said, I don't think anyone (FFR or otherwise) is in a position to call out any poster for living too far away or contributing less than anyone else. I think we all contribute what we can... Also, the "Fire Helmet Jesus" moniker is stupid, and smacks of jealousy. -
That rotation will be a defensive powerhouse. Blocked shots all around! I'm imagining little Raymond Taylor covered like white on rice by Alzee, then getting stuffed when he settles for a jumper because there's too much length in the middle. Put Ked in and move Mitchell over to 4 and either take Patton, Franklin, or Jordan off the floor and I think it gets even better. I know J Williams' offense is exciting, but how is he on D? Cooley?
-
Kedrick is going to be asked to log a ton of minutes this year being the lone C on our roster. Given his knee problems, how would you think we would line up if he were to aggravate one of his knees? You think Mitchell will have to take that spot? This is probably my chief worry going into this year: Ked's health.

Ah! Ocular lens (sorry, misspelled lens) is my Biology degree coming out... I meant a Monocle. So, an eagle with a monocle?
-
An eagle with an ocular lense? What is this? SMU?
-
Yeah, he didn't even give me a chance to ask him about Terrell Brooks.

You are correct, in garbage time against ULL, McNulty threw for those stats. Let's not forget what Osborne did in garbage time against Tulsa! Osborn: 6-7 69yds 2TD If we're using garbage time stats to back this up, then Osborne wins. There's not really an argument. Now, McCarney has thrown out the "forcefield" answer of "Osborne not producing in practice like McNulty". If that's the reason, then we're forced to take it with a grain of salt, because as pointed out above, the gametime stats say otherwise.
