  1. It's great to be happy for Kason Martin & his success at Tiffin. It's dumb to think he would have won a bunch of games for us over Austin Aune, as frustrating as Aune was.
  2. Way too much vitrol in this dude's posts. Andrew is blissful/repetitive in his ignorance. This dude is obstinate/combative in his.
  3. Wasn't that at the 2A or 3A level in Oklahoma? I mean, if you have game, it will translate, but to make the jump from being a walking bucket at the Oklahoma 3A level VS D1 Mid-major basketball... that's pretty big, and flaws will be exposed.
  4. It hurts when your favorite player leaves. Most people deal with it honestly, and wish him well. Others can't process the sting of loss & hope to see him fail. Nothing new around here.
  5. Didn't get to watch the first half, but the 2nd half was a wild ride. That should have been a L with how UNI closed the game out, and had a gimme short-jumper clang off the rim. Credit to the guys for digging deep, and running away with it in OT. I don't know if the guys ran out of gas late or something, but the perimeter defensive intensity slipped quite a bit toward the end, especially by Noland. Noland is fun to watch offensively, but defensively, he's not playing up to Coach Hodge's relentless standard (at least, from what I saw). I bet that changes... Or we may not see as much of him moving forward. Scott stepped up big time. He can be the next superstar, for sure. It will be fun watching how his game grows/evolves as opposing teams key on him throughout the year. I like Edwards. A lot. Is he the next JUCO All-American transfer that continues this awesome run we've had over the previous 4 years? Sissoko didn't have the type of game that endeared us to him during the NIT run. Hoping that was just a blip, but it's nice having Allen to lean on if Moulaye's not feeling it.
  6. Wow, take out the things that amplify the defense's issues... and we're still not very good. Great points here. Let me see if I can contribute to these mental gymnastics: If we took out the last 47 seconds of the Memphis game, we would have WON!!!!!1!!!1!1!!!!!!!!1 We gave up 600 yards against Memphis, yet only gave up 439 yards (and 10 fewer points) the previous week against a ranked Tulane... We're trending in the right direction!11!!!!!1!... Dangit. I don't think I can do this kind of math.
  7. This thread is funny. The defense just got finished allowing Memphis their highest yardage amount of the year: 600 YARDS!!! (That's more yardage than they had against FCS Bethune Cookman). That included the most demoralizing TD in the final minute of a game that I've seen in a while. Are you serious @peanuts104? The offense has been humming since Rogers took over. The success of the offense is not surprising at all, because that's Morris' bread-and-butter. Kinda like how the offense was fine under Littrell.
  8. This has been a pervasive thought here as long as I can remember. It RARELY works. Marcus Trice, and now JaMori Maclin, are the only two players I can recall over the past 2 decades that we pulled from a P5 school and played at an all-conference level with UNT. There is a laundry list of others, who either didn't help at all, or simply work in as 'also-contributing'. What USUALLY works, is getting guys like Chandler Rogers & Riley Mayfield, who has proven to be very, very good at their previous level, and is ready to step up.
  9. Most importantly, for those of you who were concerned about keeping things going as we've been privileged to see while Coach McCasland has been here.... SHSU averaged over 72ppg last year. They have scorers. SHSU was held to 53pts. We're gonna be fine.
  10. Let's try this again, except after the 20/21 season: ... Then Perry stepped up to fill the void. There's a void again. Someone will step up to fill it. I'm excited to see who it will be (Rubin? Aaron? One of the new guys?).
  11. I like this idea, but they would definitely need a travel partner, and with Colorado moving back to the Big12, I wonder if COSt would like to come this way as well?
  12. Memphis is not quite what I thought they'd be this year. NT is clearly showing improvement with each game. 2-3 weeks ago, I would have said this was going to be a rough one for us. Something like 40-24. Now, I'm not so sure. I think it's going to come down to the last 5 minutes of the game. Barring a lopsided turnover margin, it's going to be tight. This should be a very, very good game. I think the score is going to be something like 33-31, but I have no idea who will win. For me, this one is truly a toss-up. The wildcard here might be Seth Henigan. I know it's NT's homecoming, but it's also his homecoming. If he shows up and plays out of his mind for family/friends, that could be a factor that would tip the game in Memphis' favor. The QB duel should be fun to watch.
  13. Didn't we start 2021 (yes, less than 2 years ago) 1-6, including a close loss to Liberty & Malik Willis... only to see them reel-off 5 straight?
  14. I actually only kept up with the game via ESPN app, checking in every here & there, as Saturday was pretty busy for me. So I don't really know how to feel. Glad we didn't get the doors blown off though! Sounds like everyone around here was pleasantly surprised (myself included) with the loss being as competitive as it was... but that's not quite what we are wanting, right?
  15. This is kinda like saying, hypothetically, that NT football runs a dumb offense because the Air Raid is not like other teams’ ground game, ball-control offenses. The longball is deadly when you have a good defense & lethal forwards… which is exactly what NT has been strong in over the past few decades. You can bypass the midfield when you see an opportunity. Not having Burnell hurts bad. Think like if Maclin went down with injury. That’s a huge weapon that really stretches the field & puts pressure on the opponent’s safeties (or, in soccer, the center backs). Sure, you can change your style to more dink/dunk/quick throws, but that’s tough to implement mid-season. And, as Blurbeard mentioned, losing a bright young defender in Renfro hurts the back line. You have to be able to win the ball before you can send it! All that to say, you must have extremely high standards to call out the winningest coach in NTs history (regardless of sport). Be sure to keep that same energy for the gridiron coaches (who routinely struggle to reach .500)!
  16. NT's run of great kickers continues. We don't seem to be utilizing TEs much in Morris' version of the Air Raid. Not sure if that's because he is missing guys like Roberts & Gumms, or if that position is just not as important. I'll take the trade so far. We lose Rauschenberg after this season, and Roberts still has some time to improve at Baylor, so we'll see.
  17. You know what? Upon further review, I'd like to take this bit of info you provided and lower the blowout score, because yes, you're right. Tulane has played 3 other teams with piss-poor defenses like ours (SoAL, SoMiss, & UAB), and could only score 37, 21, & 35. So, if Tulane quick-strikes us, and takes the wind out of our sails, I'll say 42-17. I'll stick with my other "competitive" score... just a little too much Tulane.
  18. NT beats the worst team in the AAC, playing their backup QB, and now we have people thinking NT is going to get a win against a ranked team on the road. Y'all are funny. If NT comes out swinging, gets on the scoreboard first, and plays with some confidence, it could be something like: NT-27 Tulane-38 If NT comes out slow, or lets Tulane hit a big play TD early, it could be something like: NT-14 Tulane-59
  19. Do you still have a landline phone? Do you still use a mapsco to get around? It just seems like you're extremely against any sort of change at all.
  20. I think this one is gonna be a real fight. I think being at home should help us gut this one out. NT-38 Temple-34
  21. There's already a Ballpark in Arlington. I don't think anyone would want to try and lean into an existing building elsewhere when there's a chance to be unique.
  22. Rendition 1: Too North Korea-ish. Hard pass. Rendition 2: Too Ballpark in Arlington-ish. No thanks. Rendition 3: Too Fouts-ish. Hard pass.
  23. Yep. Our defense is not at the level of "keeping things in front of them", and staying gap-disciplined, that most defenses, where we can hope to keep Navy chewing up clock. Anyone recall what Cal's RB did to us? He had all of those huge chunk runs without the threat of misdirection that comes with the Triple Option. We're going to have LBs & Safeties whiffing at air and tackling the wrong guys all over the field.
