  1. Make it happen! Aren't you somewhat-close to his family? If there's interest, please reach out and contact the coaching staff ASAP.
  2. Being a Mean Green fan:
  3. Any of the guys in this thread want to revisit their takes? Barry Odom did indeed find a good OC, as yours-truly indicated he would need to (a fantastic young offensive mind: Brennan Marion), and took a 5-7 UNLV team to 9-4 (including a MWC Championship appearance)... in just one year! That's crazy how he could do something like that! I mean, if you listen to folks around here, regressing from 6-6 to 5-7 is reasonable, and "nothing to be ashamed of"!!!1!!1!!! Meanwhile, Coach Odom is actually WINNING. Missed opportunity. Bring on the downvotes!
  4. https://calbears.com/news/2023/12/3/football-bloesch-elevated-to-offensive-coordinator-o-line-coach Baylor hired Spavital a few days ago, so Cal stays in-house. This was a no-brainer move for Cal (who's doing it the right way, promoting him to OC/O-Line... not OC/QBs), and I hope they do well. Bloesch is a really good OC. Hope they find a designated QBs coach to replace Spav though, otherwise if their QBs have any technical/mechanical issues, they're screwed. Cole Johnson is also still there as an Offensive GA as well.
  5. Oh yes. There'll be plenty of "See! Told-ya-so!"s to go around if they get their doors blown off by Georgia (which they likely will).
  6. I'd say FSU has every right to claim a "National Championship" like UCF does, if they happen to beat Georgia (the reigning champs, and likely a better team than at least both FSU & Texas) in the Orange Bowl.
  7. Selfishly, I really hope he sticks at OU as OC as long as possible, and doesn't get another HC gig anytime soon. It's a good job, especially for him, as an alumnus. ...because if he does get another HC shot, and he succeeds beyond what he did here, it only furthers NT's reputation as a coaching black hole.
  8. https://www.yahoo.com/news/jeff-wilson-jr-impacting-dolphins-143329019.html The Dolphins love him. I hope he gets more opportunities there, but there's a backlog of RB depth in Miami at the moment.
  9. Frank Harris as QB1?? His stats are worse than both Henigan & Stone (not to mention Rogers, and even Zeno!). Just stupid. Obviously, you have to win. That is the main statistic.
  10. We're done paying him in January. So maybe a little.
  11. Sometimes you step in the bullshit. Sometimes you use it to fertilize. Just gotta watch your step, I suppose.
  12. How do you think we would have done this past season if we didn't pull Rogers out of the portal ourselves? It works both ways.
  13. Maclin was a no brainer if he had his grades in order to graduate. Looks like he does. Dude was fun to watch, and I'm glad we got to see him in Green for 2 years. In an Air Raid, I'm not really worried about losing WRs though. Hoping Ward stays, and I bet with how Sides came on at the end of the year, he could jump in and get some looks. ...Hold onto your butts if Rogers happens to have his grades in order to graduate as well. Miner is a tough loss. He should get an opportunity at one of those Northern ACC schools like BC or Syracuse if he wants it, and he'll be closer to home. Losing Adaway, if true, is going to be tough. Hoping at least 2 of Adeyi, Ragsdale, & Johnson come back. And like last offseason, if we happen to lose Rod Brown, we're going to be worse on defense next year, while some other lucky team gets much better.
  14. They were 7-5 this year. Your stats total 6 wins. Looks like they went 3-1 in non-conference. https://www.espn.com/college-football/team/schedule/_/id/326 Either way, they went from 4 wins last year to 7 this year. That's almost double, despite struggling down the stretch (including the curbstomping y'all gave them). ...Whereas NT stepped backwards when we were supposed to be rid of the problem and primed to improve.
  15. I was one of the loudest critics there at the end. But I wholeheartedly agree with this. Littrell set a new standard around here. Glad he's off the payroll soon though!
  16. Kinda cramped in there, but they should fit!
  17. Yes there is. There's plenty of "shame". NT was preparing for the C-USA Championship game and then a bowl game at this time last year. We got there in a rocky way, but we got there. That finish was deemed to be not good enough last year, and changes were made... TO MAKE US BETTER. NT regressed. TX St. finished last year with 4 wins. That finish was deemed to be not good enough, and changes were made to make them better. TX St. improved. Vastly. While there are bright spots to look forward to next year (along with plenty to worry about, especially defensively), this season was definitely not a success.
  18. The more things change, the more they stay the same. #couldnthit6
  19. There's no way he would take that job. He's had plenty of time to see that program up-close to know better. It'd be a home run hire for UTEP though. .500 football and continuous bowl eligibility would be huge for them.
  20. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/38987120/mississippi-state-hires-jeff-lebby-next-coach I think OU's next OC is already there. It would be a very good fit, as Littrell already has 3+ years of understanding Briles' Veer&Shoot offense, so there would not be a lot of change if he were to step in. He's proven to be a very good OC.
  21. Yikes. I guess I need to own up on this. So I don’t know how much is tied to Gary VS scheme (he lost a DL to scheme). I know having Gary coaching a 3-down line VS still having Passwaters “coaching” this same unit in this same scheme is a massive upgrade. Jackson isn’t even on the team anymore since he was relegated to the bench in this dumb scheme.
  22. I think, if we're looking at recently-fired defensive coaches, this guy might be a little more attainable (I don't see him getting another HC look,, at P5, G5, or even FCS). And he would actually bring in a good understanding of how a real 3-3-5 defense is supposed to work, as he's a Rocky Long disciple.
