  1. Nice to have a real QBs coach!
  2. I don't get you dude. Do you have an axe to grind w/Hodge? Maybe Hodge is starting Moulaye over Allen because it's "The North Texas Way" (I dunno where that came from). It's his ship now. If it's working, why change it? Allen is certainly still eating. And obviously, he's out there in crunch time... at the end of the game (which is what this discussion was about, originally).
  3. I'm well aware of the circumstances around TP coming off the bench in '21-'22. There are plenty of interviews about it (because it was so weird after TP showed how dominant he could be) where all 3 guys explained it. JJ was a returning Senior and team captain. TP had just got here & hadn't earned anything yet. JJ started the season over TP. It worked well in setting the defensive tone of the games. McCasland approached Tylor about starting, because he had earned it after a few games. TP basically said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.", McCasland agreed, and so he continued to come off the bench. Sometimes that stint was for several minutes to start the games. Sometimes, it wasn't but a couple times up & down the floor. Every team is different. That's what makes it so fun!
  4. I don't think it ever took TP 10 minutes to come into the game... unless JJ was playing out of his mind & we were cruising, say, against weaker teams. Even then, it would likely be time for JJ to have a breather anyway. I think we can all agree (well, maybe?) that Coach Hodge's style is not common. He's not playing the fast-paced, high-scoring, transition ball like a lot of other schools. So with different styles comes different needs. Not everything is cookie-cutter... and I'm glad it's not, because in NT b-ball's case, it's so fun to watch the frustration levels of opposing teams crank up throughout the games when the pace is not to their liking.
  5. I love how his sound has changed ever-so-slightly over the years (as any artist grows), but he certainly hasn't sold out to any kind of pop sound, when I bet he's been approached with big checks quite a bit to do so. And now, his style is an influence on pop sound.
  6. Like we've seen over the past few seasons with JJ Murray starting over Tylor Perry, the starters should be the ones who will best set the coach's desired tone for the early stages of the game. In JJ/TP's case, obviously coach McCasland and coach Hodge wanted a defensive tone. Then, when they feel the game is going as desired, or we're falling behind & need a sparkplug, sub JJ, and insert TP. Likewise, at the end of the game, if NT is holding a lead & need stops, insert JJ to lock them down. If NT is in a slugfest/shootout at the end of the game, keep TP in to hit clutch shots. You're just using your personnel's strengths to accomplish the desired results. "Best Players start", works most times, but not all the time.
  7. really, either way helps NT, right? We beat both teams, so either SMU wins and our win over WSU doesn't help at all, or WSU wins and our win over SMU is cheapened a little.
  8. I hate moral victories as much as the next guy, but I think there’s a lot of good to take away from today’s game. Looking forward to the return trip March, 6th…. Likely with seeding/byes on the line. Hopefully we’re at full strength. Hats off to Davis. That dude’s a baller.
  9. WAAAY too early to start poo-pooing him. In EMorris’ offense, yeah, we’re excited about him. The only reason for hiring Chad Morris to be WRs/PGC is for Chandler? Nah. NT would have been wise to pick him up in some capacity, IMO. He was OC at Clemson during their come-up & has HC experience. He has a brilliant offensive mind, similar to their current HC. Why wouldn't Kinne want him? That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened. Hope Chandler sticks with us!
  10. FSU is currently 2nd in the ACC. Y'all are gonna be fine.
  11. TX State kinda needs a QB... and we have one "Committed" here (re: not actually enrolled) who happens to share blood with this man. Not necessarily a "The sky is falling!" level of concern, but something to keep an eye on.
  12. Y'all were 13-5 (4-1) with nice wins over FLSt, & current 1st place Charlotte, in addition to a nail biter VS Memphis. Hate to rain on your self-deprecation-for-the-sake-of-excusing-your-loss but... Y'all are good. I anticipate February 11 to be another really great game between 2 very good teams.
  13. Well, in December, they were busy bowl-preppin.... wait, Well, after all the bowls were over, we had so many coaches fired/poached that Morris had to re-hir.... wait, Well, we really had to focus on re-loading 2024's roster immediately because all of our elite players bolted out the portal... yeah, that's it. 😢
  14. OK. Not all of the student section dumped out immediately after the final whistle like we would normally call "storming the court"... my bad, technically. Sheesh. But:
  15. They did. The players ate it up & stayed out there with them.
  16. Yep! And let's do that with all of the students we pick up as "die-hards" tonight (whether they rush the court or not). Fingers-crossed!
  17. It shouldn't be. Us, along with TCU & UTA should have a round-robin each year to crown the metroplex champs. Rotate home/away between teams each year. If tied, point diff crowns the champs. It just makes too much sense, and since there are so many non-conference games in basketball, it should be fairly easy to schedule.
  18. Carolina had a chance to LOCK THE GATE. Chose not to.
  19. All of you saying "no"... I get it. It's not like we're stunning a ranked opponent, winning a postseason tournament, etc.... However, there are about 45,000,000,000+ threads on GMG chastising students for not showing up to various games through the years. If the students decide to storm the floor, jump around, get amped-up, then continually return for the rest of the home games... that's a win. Not to mention, SMU currently has a better overall record and is ahead of us in the conference standings. It's not the worst time to do it. Go for it Mean Green! Have fun! Most importantly, Come Back!
  20. Definitely. Alzee was awesome. He would have absolutely fit right into Grant's/Ross' defensive regime as well. I checked again and it looks like we got Wooly in during Benford's last season as well.
  21. Jordan Williams, Jeremy Combs... the rest is a blur.
  22. You're citing performance on the field in 1 game, after the fact. No brother, they had already bought both. Also, ...something about stones & glass houses... you know, since UNT was sitting at home watching that game.
